And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

OP sorry not read the whole thread but just wanted to try to give you a little reassurance

I had meningitis when i was 3 and although I was very ill with it I recovered and have no lasting problems from it. Treatment is far better now than it was 30 odd years ago. I know its really scarey for you and your DD but keep hanging in there she's in the right place and all the right things are happening.

Make sure you get plenty of rest for yourself so you can be strong for B.

PullUpAPew · 10/06/2012 19:11

Just sending you and B my best wishes x

Thinking of you and your perfect girl x

mrbloomismyhoe · 10/06/2012 19:30

My thoughts are with you, and I hope your little DD is on the mend soon.

My closest friend had pneumococcal meningitis and septicemia (sp?) when she was a toddler. She's now 34 and due to give birth any day - hang in there.

Springisoutthere · 10/06/2012 19:33

BellaOfTheBalls · 10/06/2012 19:35

UnMNetty hug and lots of love to you. Bringing cake as the hand holding and tea has been done xxx

DeWe · 10/06/2012 19:36

Hope she's better soon. My Gp said that meningitis was most parent's dread, but in his experience people were always surprised to hear the statistics of the number of children who came through with no long term effects. Hope your little one is one of those. I'd have thought if she's responding to you by holding her arms up, that must be a really good sign.

We had a long train journey with a grandmother and her two children, the younger boy had partual hearing loss due to meningitis. He was a lovely little boy, who got on very well with my two girls, and I only knew about the hearing loss because it was mentioned, he adjusted very well.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/06/2012 19:38

Thinking of B and you both. I have a friend who had meningitis as a toddler and has some very minor hearing loss on one side. TBH the only lasting effects he has had are a) a perfect excuse to ignore any comments he doesn't want to hear and b) being mysterious and interesting which has girls falling over him as he is gorgeous :o

mummymccar · 10/06/2012 19:46
