And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

Oh and nerd I've only seen muller little stars fromage frais and lumpy strawberry yogurt on the ward, think I may have to do a Tesco trip tomorrow as I'm not sure either would be overly suitable! :)

Oh dear re puke Sad

Was just about to say how great it was she was eating.

Hopefully the hospital can give you some advice.

CointreauVersial · 22/06/2012 00:08

It's getting better all the time, but do look after yourself - you've been under huge strain for 10 days plus, and the stress has to manifest itself at some point (hence feeling tearful, and almost certainly the thrush).

Your little girl will be back to normal soon; poor lass has to build up her strength again.

TanteRose · 22/06/2012 02:09

good to hear things are looking up (apart from thrush - its awful, isn't it? dose yourself up with some probiotics too)

if you want to talk at 4am, I am at work on t'other side of the world, so can be a listening ear in the wee small hours Smile

Glad to hear that there are some improvements Mud, but sorry to hear about the puke Sad Perhaps it was all abit too much for B's tummy after not eating for so long, and of course could still be a reaction to the antib's too.

Hope that you all have a good day today, and make sure you look after yourself and DH too (((hugs)))

dikkertjedap · 22/06/2012 08:26

Hope you have both had some sleep and B has been keeping food in.
Personally I would stick to the dietary advice of Addenbrooke's. I would try not to rush into a discharge, although I totally understand that you are much rather home. B might need specialised help to help her recover and it would be easier to get that whilst in hospital then whilst at home (unless you agree a full treatment plan before you leave). Thinking of you both.

DeWe · 22/06/2012 12:00

Glad things are looking better. Hope she continues to get better.

A friend who had meningitis said she felt stiff round her neck/shoulders for a good couple of months afterwards, but it did clear totally. So that could be making her reluctant to move her arm too.

worrywortisworrying · 22/06/2012 14:08

Mud - so glad things are looking up.

I think you are VERY entitled to feel a bit sorry for yourself. You, too, have been through the mill and you need to take care of yourself too.

x

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/06/2012 19:57

Mud - been following your thread and so glad that things are looking better for your dd Smile

You're entitled to feel a bit sorry for yourself; you've been on autopilot for a while now and as you begining to see the light at the end of the tunnel it can all get a bit much, so do look after yourself too.

Are they getting the physios in to help dd with her movement and muscle tone?

funnyperson · 22/06/2012 21:49

How lovely that DD is making steady progress. Poor little mite she has been seriously ill and needs to convalesce. Fantastic that her ng tube is out, thats a really good sign. I'm tending to agree with the others, perhaps ask the hospital if the paediatric physios could see her, and the dietician, so that you have a proper discharge plan. Also the hosp will organise a hearing test. Its still very early days: DD will continue to improve and at this stage still needs lots of rest and tlc.
How are the rest of your family and DH coping?

NoComet · 23/06/2012 10:33

So glad B is still getting better.

StopEatingThatMud · 23/06/2012 22:19

Evening all,

I went home for the night last night while dp stayed with B. Do you know, I've felt more tired today after 7 straight hours of sleep than I have done in days! Could be something to do with the several large glasses of wine my parents poured when I popped round to see our dog last night though I suppose!

We were allowed out for a couple of hours today :) we went round my parents so B could see the dog too. She loved it and had a little giggle. It's the first time she's been vocal since she's been ill so that was good. It was wierd being out though, it made it all the more glaringly obvious just how ill she looked seeing her in familiar surroundings.

She seems to have started moving her right leg a little more this evening, she's managed to dangle it over the top of her cot bars a couple of times so it appears the stifness is hopefully easing a bit. I'm going to try and not worry about her arm too much until het picc line is out as someone else said that must be quite uncomfortable having a tube running the length of her arm, up over herp shoulder.

We have asked about a physio referral now saggar/funny, thanks for the suggestion. They should be looking into that in the morning for us.

Today was definitely a good day in one respect, B become a cousin and I became an auntie for the first time. SIL had a little boy this afternoon, in the same hospital as us! I've already been for newborn cuddles :)

RachelHRD · 23/06/2012 23:03

Great news :)

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 23/06/2012 23:17

Oh Mud, it's no wonder you're shattered even after 7 hours sleep - you've been properly through it these last 2 weeks.

What a fab improvement little B has made. Wonderful news x

Lcy · 23/06/2012 23:51

Fantastic news about little b and becoming an aunty x

PoppyWearer · 24/06/2012 02:38

Amazing news!

worrywortisworrying · 24/06/2012 04:39

Glad things are still improving.

Congratulations on the birth of your DNephew

youarekidding · 24/06/2012 07:30

Fantastic news. Grin

balotelli · 24/06/2012 07:53

Its when you read threads like this that you realise all my 'major' problems seem so insignificant.

You seem to be such a strong person and couple.

I hope that your dd pulls through with no long lasting complications.

balotelli · 24/06/2012 07:54

messed that up!!

Too early, coffee not reached brain yet.

Thanks
beatofthedrum · 24/06/2012 07:58

That is wonderful news that B is improving so steadily. I do understand though how confused and distressed you must feeling mixed in with the relief - things are all moving in the right direction but now you're getting to step back a bit and view the whole situatio , of course you are massively anxious about her progress. Just focus on how everything is improving in small steps, you have both been through so much, you must both be utterly worn out. B sounds like she is doing so well, what a superstar.
Congratulations on baby nephew! That's lovely lovely news xx
