Morning all,
We're at addenbrookes PICU now. B had an hour long seizure yesterday morning which was difficult to control so we've been transferred here in case she needs surgery.
The neurosurgeons have looked at her latest CT from yesterday and said shes got a small amount of fluid on her brain but not enough that they want to do anything at the moment so hopefully it can be controlled with antibiotics.
She's been sedated overnight and on s ventilator. They commented it was a bit like trying to sedate a small elephant! She's fought it all the way and has been awake a lot of the time, now they've switched the sedation off she's fallen asleep the little monkey! Hopefully once she's awake she'll come off the ventilator too.
I think her left hand is still a bit twitchy so I'm hoping now she's off the sedative she doesn't have any more fits but we'll have to wait and see.
She's finally had her blood transfusion, apparently they had some trouble cross matching her as she had antibodies in her blood and they're not sure why. She's also anemic which we didn't know previously.
Addenbrookes is amazing. We had an ambulance come up from great ormond street with their CATS team who were great and have just called to ask how B is now. We have a room in one of the parents houses here so DP can stay too which is great and I got a full nights sleep last night for the first time in a while, not being in in the same room hovering over B probably helped. She has a dedicated nurse on PICU so we knew she'd be looked after.
Fingers crossed we might be off PICU today, I'm just praying there's no more fits, that was the hardest thing to watch.
