And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

I really hope today is better. Completely second what other posters have said, if your not happy please request transfer to GOSH they are truly wonderful with the children and families.
Prayers and best wishes for the day.

Tikkabillajive · 14/06/2012 10:10

Just checking in to say I am still thinking about you and little B this morning. So sorry it was a rough night. Hugs and hopes for a better day for B today (and some rest for you!)

Ormiriathomimus · 14/06/2012 10:29

Oh mud Sad So sorry to hear things are still so hard.

Agree with maples, can someone else take over for a while? You need sleep.

dikkertjedap · 14/06/2012 10:58

Dear StopEatingThatMud I am so sorry about B and you are having such a harrowing time. Is there any chance to have her moved to Addenbrooke's (sp?) in Cambridge or Great Ormond Street in London or another major children's hospital?

I don't know what else to say, I hope so so much that she starts responding to treatment, but if necessary and if you are losing confidence in the hospital where you are please do fight your corner or get your family/friends involved to get her moved to a more specialist hospital.

XXX

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 14/06/2012 11:05

Just read about that awful dr I'm so sad to hear after all you r going thru he saw fit to be so rude and useless. Sending big (((hugs))) to both of you and willing your dd to keep fighting. You r in my thoughts !!!! Sending even more love and energy :(

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 11:12

So sorry things sound so rough. Maybe the time has come to start being really assertive and demanding a transfer.

dikkertjedap · 14/06/2012 11:19

StopEatingThatMud I know I already mentioned it and I just saw that MinxtheManx (sp?) has also mentioned it, DO GET HER TRANSFERRED if you are not sure about the hospital. If I was in your situation I would push for Great Ormond Street, the doctors there are truly the experts in their field, not just in the UK, they are renowned world-wide.

Please, do not wait too long, stand your ground, ask for help from your friends and family or maybe MinxtheManx can tell you how to get a quick transfer.

From what you have said, it seems that either she is not responding to the treatment, or insufficiently responding, so you are totally in your right to ask for the best experts in the country to get involved and to get involved quickly.

I am thinking a lot about both of you, and I so much hope that your dd starts improving. XXX

funnyperson · 14/06/2012 11:31

Perhaps DD is having seizures. It is sensible to record it on the chart on the end of the bed if you notice any twitching, and sensible to ask nurse to come and see.
It doesn't mean you have to be responsible, it just means write down what you see. They might give her medicine for it. Thats OK. She wont be on the medicine for life.
If exhausted go home have some rest and ask a relative to take over.
No need for transfer to gosh at this stage. Addenbrookes is nearer you and just as good. Keep the faith. Holding hands.

funnyperson · 14/06/2012 11:47

meningitis trust site with 24 hr helpline if necessary.

Sorry to hear things are not so good. Sending you positive thoughts. Please take care of yourself, watching over an ill loved one is exhausting.

Lcy · 14/06/2012 13:19

I am thinking of you and little B. Sending you positive thoughts and strength xxx

hmc · 14/06/2012 13:24

Everything crossed for you Mud - hope she is better today x

minxthemanx · 14/06/2012 13:30

Hi, hope you are having a better day. Hopefully the antibiotics will be starting to work. If you are at all concerned that they can't find what's wrong, start talk to them about GOSH. Make sure you praise them highly for the (mostly) very good care your DD has received, but you are wondering whether it's time to consult/move to the highly specialist expertise at Gt Ormond St. I would imagine your Drs have been consulting Addenbrookes anyway, as it's your closest - see what they have to say. I had to be an incredibly pushy Mum, embarrassingly so, but if I hadn't, the outcome would have been unbearable. Don't be afraid to be assertive. Big hug.

ReneandGeorgetteMagritte · 14/06/2012 14:29

Dear Mud and B, I hope things have been better today. It's very hard sometimes to get the understanding you need in hospital I think, sometimes staff are just too busy and used to what's going on, and they can forget how bewildering it is. Like minx says, don't be afraid to be assertive.

Sending you love.

biddyofsuburbia · 14/06/2012 16:33

Sorry B & you had a bad night - really hope today has been better and that you have had the strength to get what you need out of the hospital or to get her transferred as per advice above. Big hug here too.x

youarekidding · 14/06/2012 17:27

So sorry you've had another bad night. Sad

Shock at Dr and comment re seizures. If your concerned just call a nurse - you shouldn't be expected to make a judgement call.

Keeping you in my thoughts xx

Jnice · 14/06/2012 17:45

Hang on in there OP, thinking of you and B and hoping things make a turn for the better very soon x

worrywortisworrying · 14/06/2012 18:00

Really hoping today has been a better day for B.

dikkertjedap · 14/06/2012 18:18

Hopefully, B got the blood transfusion today, if so, they will all be at Addenbrooke's I guess ...

PullUpAPew · 14/06/2012 18:58
