And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

Thanks everyone, I'm on my phone so please excuse me if I don't quote names or miss out things people have said. but I am reading everything, promise.

I think in a funny old way starting this might have been my way of recording what happens. I just have to remember to c+p it somewhere before it goes poof from chat!

They've just taken more bloods to check she's getting the right fluids, they're also going to start weighing her wet nappies as she's had almost 800ml of iv fluid, plus a cup of water and the milk earlier and only had 2 slightly wet nappies.

Her chest sounds bad, she's almost grunting when breathing. They did a chest xray yesterday and think she has a secondary chest infection but the doctor has said it might sound worse before she gets better so hopefully thats all it is.

Oh we're now being moved to a room closer to the nurses station, obs are being upped to hourly and they're contemplating putting her on a heart rate monitor....I guess this is the down bit of the ups and downs I keep telling myself to expect.

Oh god bless you all Stop. I can't begin to imagine your fear. Regular obs sound good and reassuring that they are on the ball. Praying to all the gods for B x

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 10/06/2012 22:35

Thinking of you op

Selks · 10/06/2012 22:40

Ask for the thread to be moved into a different room if you want to keep it, OP.

Wishing your little one a strong and speedy recovery.

biddyofsuburbia · 10/06/2012 22:41

Glad she has taken some milk, hope the night is restful for her and that the antibiotics start to kick so her body can heal, & although you probably barely know what time of day it is, try and get some rest yourself in between the antibiotics and IV change and the morning. Holding B & you all in my thoughts.

beatofthedrum · 10/06/2012 22:42

Thinking of you on this tough night. You sound very strong. Hope you get onto an 'up' very soon xx

CointreauVersial · 10/06/2012 22:48

It must be soooo scary for you, especially with her being so young. Stay strong, she's in the best place.

EllieorOllie · 10/06/2012 22:53

Praying for your little girl, you and your family. It sounds like you are a tower of strength for her xx

lazarusb · 10/06/2012 22:55

Thinking of you. At least if you are nearer the nurses station they will always be aware when you go off to the loo etc so they can keep an eye on her for you.

Hopefully every day will bring some improvement in her, glad she took some milk today.

Just popping in for a catch up before bed, I'm so glad to see there's been positive signs. Will be thinking of you and will nip back in and keep you company if I can't sleep.

Wine of the fortifying kind, to keep you going x

Haven't read the whole thread sorry, but DD1 was in intensive care as a newborn with a dire prognosis and on Day 4 turned miraculously for no reason, against all the medical indications, for nothing. Even then they said she'd have brain damage most likely.

She's 22, just finished finals and a beauty.

Stay strong.

ExitPursuedByABear · 10/06/2012 23:02

How awful for you OP. My heart goes out to you and your little girl. I hope that things improve for her overnight. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

ReindeerBollocks · 10/06/2012 23:05

Thinking of little B. Hopefully the rest and the antibiotics will help her get stronger and fight the infection. You will run on autopilot, which is common, but you may find yourself getting a bit teary and down when B gets better. This is completely normal too. Remember to look after yourself as well as you are looking after B. Hope things look better tomorrow x

Just5minspeace · 10/06/2012 23:08

Hope she gets better quickly
