Gigondas · 09/04/2012 21:44

Thanks j. Have something nice on kindle to distract me . Sis has told me all local coffee places and her/friend/mum/dh have offered to keep me company any time I need .

topsyturner · 09/04/2012 21:57

I always had early morning rad appointments gig , less time for the queues to build up !
Once the rads girls get used to shooting you , the rads appointments can take as little as 15 minutes .
What time is your appointment ?

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/04/2012 22:09

oh good luck gig - will be sending you special vibes xx

OP posts:
Gigondas · 09/04/2012 22:13

It's at 9. I took your tip on early appt Topsy so most of them then. Thanks for vibes -
Night all xx

KurriKurri · 09/04/2012 23:18

Good luck for tomorrow Gig, hope it all goes well. Radiographers tend to be very nice people, hopefully you won't have to wait too long, and can treat yourself to a nice coffee afterwards xx

gracie - I have lots of scar tissue under my arm where they removed lymph nodes, I think it is highly likely to be this (others on here, have had the same thing) - but always ask about anything that is bothering you Smile

Grin - at you dog, -mine has little yelping dreams, where she waggles her front legs around - in her head she is a big fierce hunting dog! Grin

MAS - you are not going on, you've got a lot on your plate at the moment, and we're always happy to listen if it helps Smile take care lovely xx

topsyturner · 10/04/2012 06:56

Morning All

Was awake at stupid o clock today (damn you AF !)

Good luck for rads gig

Any other appointments today ?

Today is still a holiday over here (we have Monday and Tuesday rather than Friday and Monday for some reason) and DD is desperately trying to persuade us to "do something" .
She either wants a day trip to the seaside (weather man says rain , lots of) or the cinema . Now she is still coughing her lungs up , so I feel it may be a trifle annoying to anyone else in the cinema but apparently that's "so unfair" Grin

Maybe I'll just go back to bed for a couple of hours ...

NedSchneebly · 10/04/2012 07:55

Will check in properly later, but just wanted to shoot in and wish gig big hugs for rads today. Hope it goes Ok - lets get you started on the next bit of the journey x x x x x

Waves to all x xx x

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/04/2012 08:51

thinking of you now gig xxx
Hope dcs not too bored today topsy
Sunny here- am feeling a bit better having sent an email to bcn (poor woman) and having necked 2 glasses of wine last night. We're going up to London today so ds can admire buildings as usual..not sure exactly where.
Love to all

Gig -goodluck with the rads today.

MAS- big hug. Is there anyway you can go to the appointments with your MUm - I guess tricky if she wants to keep the PD diagnosis from you. The consultant may be able to suggest ways to manage the side effects. I guess worries about your dh job is the last thing you need on top of this.

Topsy - glsd to hear the kids are on the mend. Hope you avoid that wonderful post-illness cranky mood that mine invariably got through.

Ned - highly impressed you managed the concert. My Dad would be very envious he used to really like the Worzels. They must be pretty ancient now aern't they - wasn't it the 70,s when they had some hits.

I ache so much today. Don't know whether its the docetaxel or the CSF injections. Better thaN feeling sick but only just.

Gracie - under my arm is very lumpy too - its all hard where the drain line was too. I think its just scarring but I do a lot of paranoia prodding too.

My boys are playing an incredibly noisy game - I am ignoring them!

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 10:26

AngryAngry rads now put back til next week (or poss week after). They were all lovely but basically (and unsurprisingly !!) as wound area shrunk post infection need to refit mold and double check area to scan. Can do refit this week but want oncologist ok on scan area and she isn't in til next Monday earliest... Not completely unexpected (was news I thought would get) but bit irritating/disappointing to get geared up to go then have false start.

Oh well-fingers crossed will still get it done so can go on holiday.

All your lovely thoughts are appreciated (and worked as felt ok about it and am not too irritated about delay, more frustrated).

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 10:37

Enjoy your trip Mas-

Oneineight - hope you feel a bit better

OneInEight · 10/04/2012 10:37

How frustrating Gig - but I guess the rads should be targeted correctly to work most effectively. Have you got a holiday booked already?

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 10:41

Yes that was what they said about targeting which I can understand . Holiday booked for 3 weeks post current rad schedule so should be ok if does start next week. Just irritating as I sort of thought would have to do this but doc said was ok to start .

Have boys calmed down yet? There have been times in last few days when I thought dd was trying to drill Into my head as has Been so loud!

Figgyroll · 10/04/2012 10:59

Morning all. Brew and toast for those who are a bit peckish.

Oh that's a blow, Gig. My rads were postponed because I had a fluid swelling that needed draining so I know how frustrating it is but they need to get the measurements spot on.

One, the docetaxol is renowned for making joints ache - they call it the Tax Truck effect. Some paracetamol or ibuprofen will help.

Hope you find something to keep the children amused Topsy. I agree about the coughing - I took DSs to the cinema once and DS2 fell asleep (he was about 4 or 5) and started snoring, which annoyed the people next to us so I had to take him out. Smile

Gracie, I agree with KK, probably scar tissue - I've got some lumpy bits too. But if you're worried it's best to get it checked out just to put your mind at rest.

Enjoy your day in London with T, MAS. He should get some great photos in this sunshine. Is the Shard finished yet? Can't be much more to go. Hope you get a reply from your lovely BC nurse soon.

Well, I'm off to see a hairdresser in the next village who has experience of cutting 'chemo curly' hair, according to a couple of dog walkers I met this morning. I'm beginning to look a bit 'affro' and need it all tidying up a bit. Also need to get another box of dressings. Wound (same spot) has decided to split again - only about 3 cm but it's a pain having to dress it and keep an eye on it, especially as it's not easy to get to - just by my shoulder blade. Grrrrr.

Was wondering when our Smee is due back?

Waves to all. xx

LimeJellyforBrains · 10/04/2012 11:00

Hello to all. Have lovely sunshine here today after dreadful rainy day yesterday spent mostly crawling along motorways in rain/spray. Weekend away (with 2 other families) was great as usual (have all been before). Boast alert: I did a nearly five mile walk, partly coastal path with glorious views. Hobbled about as expected following morning, but recovery definitely getting quicker. Smile

MAS am sorry you have so much to worry about at the moment. Have much sympathy/empathy for your anxiety levels and sending big soft hugs x Paticularly sending good strong vibes for DH's job. DH also in IT and has survived several nervewracking rounds of cuts and outsourcing.

Gig that is a bugger to have your rads put back once you'd got yourself all psyched up for them. Tis true tho that accuracy is paramount. My lovely rads ladies told me they were only allowed 3mm leeway, it has to be that precise.

Gracie, I questioned a hard lump under my nodes scar and the surgeon explained that what I was feeling was actually part of a rib which was previously covered by the lymph node tissue which had been removed! Felt a bit daft but it's always best to ask! Grin

Have clotted cream fudge and shortbread for the FBS trolley!

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 11:09

Oh Figgy that's annoying re wound (and awkward). Lj weekend sounds nice and well done re walk.

Forgot to post this from my sisIf dogs could text

LimeJellyforBrains · 10/04/2012 11:15

Figgy, oh no about the wound, whenever is it going to behave itself? V tricky to get at too, and imagine it gets sore when leant against? Poor you x Good luck at the hairdresser, love the source of the recommendation! Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/04/2012 11:16

leaving soon- thanks for very lovely thoughts -what would I do without you all ? Grr about delayed rads gig - how frustrating, but they need to pin point the exact zapping area. xxx

OP posts:
topsyturner · 10/04/2012 12:11

Hahahaha Gig , I luff that !!!
Sorry about the rads btw , what a bugger !

KurriKurri · 10/04/2012 14:34

Have a good trip MAS, lovely and sunny here, hope its the same further south.

Gig - what a pain about the rads, obviously targeting properly is more important than delay in the bigger picture - but it doesn't make it any less frustrating when you are the person doing the waiting, - grrrr.

OneInEight - I didn't have docetaxol but did have CFS - and they made me very achy especially the long bones in my legs and in my ribs, - so combine that with the 'tax truck', - and you must be feeling pretty battered Sad - hopefully it will calm down in a few days though.

Figgy - grrr about the wound playing up again - you must be so fed up, - hope the dressings are easing things a bit. - Are you off work to the end of the week so you can take things easy? (I lose track of when easter hols start and finish, not having school agers any more)

LJ - your break sounds good fun, well done on the 5 miles walk - brilliant. I must do more walking - it's supposed to be one of the best exercises. Old lady dog never wants to go very far these days (and I'm always worried she'll just sit down and refuse to move, and I'll have to carry her home! Grin)

topsy - good that the DC are on the mend - what outing did you decide on? - i was going to suggest recreating the cinema experience in the comfort of your own home, - with a dvd, Ice cream tubs, and popcorn Grin

Grin at texting dogs.

I've been gardening this morning, - it's very hot in my greenhouse. Also I had a strange dream about the fish in my pond last night climbing out and running off carrying handbags [wtf?], so I've been feeding them and trying to check they are all there, - I guess I also need to check none of my bags have gone missing Grin

graciesmall09 · 10/04/2012 14:35

Love it gig that really made me laugh. That is such a shame about your rads but it is very important that they hit the right spot.

mas have a great time in London, hope your weather stays fine. Hopefully your BCN will call you back soon.

1in8 hope your aches and pains settle down and you feel better soon.

figgy sure you can't wait to get your haircut. I was saying to DH last night how on earth am I going to wash my hair with this picc line in. He just looked at me and then I realised that is one thing I won't have to worry about Sad. I have told him I will definitely not be allowed to hoover or clean as I wouldn't want it to move Grin. Really think he was totally sucked in with that one.

Lime definitely don't think it is a rib, lets just say I am VERY well upholstered Wink.

My picc line confirmation letter came today but still no confirmation of chemo date. Supposed to be next Tuesday or Wednesday but really need them to confirm as DH is taking the day off.

Boys have taken the furball out for a mega long walk as 'mum needs to laze watching rubbish tv do some cleaning'

graciesmall09 · 10/04/2012 14:37

Grin fish with handbags.

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 15:29

What kind of handbags were they kurri?

Thanks for sympathy - completely ok with why they need to do it. Just frustrating when psyched up..

gracie Grin re the can't Hoover (I picked up the coping with fatigue McMillan leaflet - there are some great ideas in there. One of them is using a wheeled laundry basket so don't have to lift. Could I use a dolls pram instead?).

figgy Lots of love as wound issues are the pits.&

topsy what was the days treat ?

Gigondas · 10/04/2012 15:30

gracie lounging is good. Hope appt comes soon as waiting sucks. What you watching (radio on here as nanny having been off has now vanished with both children somewhere)

KurriKurri · 10/04/2012 15:46

Gig - they had all sorts of bags, one had a big tote, another had a little sparkly evening clutch, and one had an old briefcase I used to use at school and haven't seen for years Confused - can anyone interpret dreams? (don't say it means I've completely lost my marbles Grin)

gracie are you having your picc line done this week? I would ring the unit and ask them to confirm about your chemo start date - say you need to make arrangements - they'll have it recorded, but the letter might have gt held up over the bank holiday.

Definitely no hoovering (or any other household tasks you don't fancy doing Wink - there's got to be some perks to the whole business!)
