MaryAnnSingleton · 25/04/2012 16:30

commission a family picture by kind dog gig !! I do birthday cards too Grin
Well done for getting through the first xx

I love those record covers - particularly All My Friends are Dead

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 25/04/2012 16:53

Grin at 'All My Friends are dead' and 'Julie's Sixteenth Birthday' - those covers are very funny.

Thanks all for your support, I've just remembered something (promise I'll stop moaning son Grin) - I told him I had very sore hands, - all the skin is peeling off and they look dreadful, and that my hair was falling out.(2 very common symptoms of underactive thyroid) He said 'oh that's interesting, I've no idea why you've got that' - so I said 'could it be something to do with my thyroid being underactive!' and he said 'I don't think so, I expect it'll clear up soon'. Arse.

OneInEight - hope you are feeling OK, - how many to go , you must be on the home stretch now?

Gig well done on getting first rads out of the way, but Shock at 'faces of sarcoma' good grief! (I was asked by cancer UK if I wanted to 'share my "cancer story" ' for their website. I declined.

MAS I will definitely post the book tomorrow - sorry I'm being hopeless and disorganized at the moment.

amberlight · 25/04/2012 16:55

Hurrah for those getting rads started/chemo dose done.

KK, arrgh re the hospital guy Hmm

Gracie, I took manuka honey every day and relied on peppermint rennies, and also took lactoferrin tablets every day. Seemed to work for me and make it all 'do-able', but it's very variable for people. Chemo strips the first player of cells off your digestive system so it does get very hurty sometimes. Gentle food definitely a good plan.

Hi everyone else Dealing with very ill uncle, hell at work, etc and feeling yuk with this cold, so will be glad to get home and get to bed later.

KurriKurri · 25/04/2012 16:55

soon not 'son' ,

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/04/2012 17:04

kk - don't fret -whenever you think of it is fine,it's so kind of you (and remind me of your address so that ds can thank you)
amber poor uncle- so sorry to hear that news (on fb) and your cold Sad
I'd offer buttons and twiglets only I've scoffed them all (greedy)
I have developed a passion for plain natural yogurt - I visualise it cleansing my insides, but I do like the taste.

and kk - that doctor sounds awful - rude and unhelpful...bah !

Forgot to wish young Sparkle happy birthday. ds1, also 9, loves his trampoline and spends hours on it - was a bit aghast when my SIL and family got it without asking but I have grown to love it despite it being a bit of an eyesore in the garden.

Gigs - well done on first radiotherapy. Great when the countdown begins. I am three-quarters through now which feels great - mind you they haven't told me yet how much radiotherapy I will need. getting chemo out of the way first before I worry about that.

I sat next to a lady at chemo yesterday who told me she weighed one and a half stone lighter after her tumour was removed and that was after some chemo! (not breast)- makes my 3 cm one very puny. She claimed she had almost no symptons which amazed me other than a small bleed which sent her to the doctors.

SparkleRainbow · 25/04/2012 18:03

oh Kurri - that is simply not good enough. You need to go and see the gp, and perhaps ask to see someone else in the clinic soon, I would think about ringing the nurse practictioner for the department and explain what has happened, and ask to see someone else. am so Angry for you, it is just wrong when the cocky gits behave like this (get this kind of attitude with one of ds' drs)

gigs well done on the first rad.

eight - everyone is different I guess, and some people are very lucky.

Smee - your op is next thursday Shock I must have missed that one.

Am putting some peanuts on the fbs trolley...am trying to avoid chocolate because for migraine links,....so dodgy peanuts is my offering for today, well maybe some choclate birthday cake too, just keep me away from it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/04/2012 18:11

oh lordy- I've just resigned from my book group - I couldn't bring myself to read the last choice (awful cover/sounded not my thing) and although I really like my bookgroup ladies I feel life's too short to be trawling through stuff I don't want to read especially when I have stuff that I'd love to read. I feel a bit bad though.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 25/04/2012 18:15

Am Smile at your post Mas as mum was moaning about her book group choice earlier. I love your idea about a pic for dh- can I pm to discuss?

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/04/2012 19:29

gig yes do,please ! Book group ladies are suggesting we all take a sabbatical which sounds a good idea !

olivo · 25/04/2012 21:18

Hi ladies, I hope you don't mind me coming on here but I need some help. My lovely sister in law was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has had a mastectomy and is now waiting for chemo, then will need radio and then drugs after that. How can i best support her, other than looking after the children etc? Sorry if this is not the appropriate place to ask, i thought there might be things that you really appreciated. Thanks.

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 21:20

Messaged you mas

LimeJellyforBrains · 25/04/2012 21:21

Oh no I am falling way behind again. Am going to have to start writing things down again as I simply cannot remember anything everything when I finally get round to posting!

So for now I'll just say Happy Birthday to Sparkles Jr - hope he is tucked up happily asleep after a lovely day and his "good haul" of presents Smile. My DS2 will be 9 in June! Lots of love to you too Sparkle and so sorry for poor Nikki hope she feels better v soon x

Kurri - I am so Angry for you, cannot believe you have had to deal with another complete arse consultant grrr. What an ignoramous too, how can he possibly get away with not knowing key symptoms of the complaint he is supposed to specialise in? Hmm Maybe they just pulled him in off the street to fill a gap...Angry First Mr Knobby, now Mr Arse! Please do complain even though I know it's hard. Rude and awful to have your list of points dismissed. Like Sometimes I get all compliant and try to be A Good Patient too which doesn't help.

Have to go now, DH needs the pc...

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 21:26

olivo welcome .Looking after kids and maybe offering to do whatever you can household wise (shopping, cooking meals etc) when she is not feeling that great. Am sure others have better ideas . I think biggest thing is not to shy away and still talk to her/ interact normally . Sadly some people do react strongly if you say you have cancer and that can be very hard . Also just listening helps - I am most grateful to friends who just let me off load.

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 21:27

Hey lime -cross posts

LimeJellyforBrains · 25/04/2012 21:36

Ha! Have warmed up the laptop!

Meant to say Gig, that Album Covers site was hilarious, the funniest thing I have seen for a long time, thanks for such a good laugh! Grin

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 21:40

I don't know where my sister finds them or what was behind some of those covers..Grin

l4k · 25/04/2012 22:14

Just lost massive post, want to cry!!

in brief-good luck to smee for next week and Kurri-please change doctors!!
have spent all day in breast clinic with mil then driven 180 miles home.
the "highly suspicious" area is diffuse and irregular with two clusters of micro-calcification.Graded at 4 from images.she had a core biopsy and can't get results for 2 weeks because of bank holiday.Conultant wasn't very talkative,I asked if there is any way to find out sooner and he offered to ring her but when he realised she lived alone he said no because she will need some support.
I've got a bad feeling about this.I felt the lump and it's more like a knobbly twig,a completely un-natural object. it is 3.2cm x2.4 x2.5.
What do you think? does anyone recognise any of this?
need some matchstick for my eyes, bloody tired.
donuts all round.

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 22:17

WOuld consultant ring you instead (does dh or ds know)? All very worrying but a bit hard to say til have full results.

l4k · 25/04/2012 22:37

My dh does know that we've been today, yes.
MIL has decided to go to stay with BIL then with us till her appointment now. Shall I ring and tell them?
thanks gig

Gigondas · 25/04/2012 22:38

I would . Consultant spoke to dh not me as I was such a state

jchocchip · 25/04/2012 23:24

Phew. I'm creamcrackered. Sorry to be awol for so long. Busy busy at work getting reports written up before holiday. Mum did get discharged home today and had surreal conversation with her as she got home and the ambulance crew were not allowed to lift her off the stretcher. Fortunately the carers arrived as we talked so they could use the hoist.

Unexpectedly got invited to private opening night of new real ale pub around corner! So work, tea and rush out. Drank rather too much ... bed time now, early start tomorrow. Was nice though. :)

topsyturner · 26/04/2012 07:50

Morning All

Only got time for a quickie this morning as once I have chased the DC out to school , I am heading out to meet a friend .
So an frantically running round the house trying to find some clothing that isn't covered in pig/dog fur .

14k I would phone the consultants secretary and explain that mil is now staying with you and your bil . And if the results could be phoned through as soon as possible .
2 weeks is a hellishly long time to wait . Especially when the initial results can be available same day . The core biopsy does take 7 to 10 days to get results , but the needle biopsy doesn't .

Jane I hope your mum is happier now she is home . And that she continues to get better .
. Grin

So much for a quickie eh ?
Later Ladies ...
