yikes- here we go...

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 10:44

Dd2 was three in October by the way.

Gigondas · 18/04/2012 10:53

Was this after first lot? Big also reacted to first lot but fine second time around. Don't blame you as I put them off for ages. Big gig about 4 months older (4 in June).

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 10:56

ds reacted after first lot, dd1 after first and second. Dd1 was actually quite poorly and got mild version of all three mmr infections, had 10 weeks of grumpy whingy 12 month old, then 3 yr old.....was a nightmare.

They will both be starting nursery in sept then...or will you stick with preschool for her?

Gigondas · 18/04/2012 11:09

She starts reception in September - seems so young . But has been at pre school for two years so is used to some of the idea of going to school.

Shock at 10 weeks of reaction- poor you! How old are dd1 and ds?

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 11:12

Of course...I didn't do my maths correctly, she is a summer born in the year ahead of dd2..... They were 10 fun week, forever burned in my memory Hmm

Dd1 is 6 now, 7 in July and ds will be 9 next week....how did that happen!

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2012 12:12

forgot to ask after jane's mum - really hope she is ok,and that you are too.
ned thanks for your comments about the blog - I think it's probably ok to have contacted him,he may not even respond of course !

gig perfectly reasonable to keep mini away from others I think...
Righto- post office beckons...

OP posts:
Gigondas · 18/04/2012 12:15

I bet he will mas. From comments my therapist said, I think they appreciate it when you really benefit/learn from therapy and use it in rl.

j how is your mum? I did mean to ask.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2012 12:35

oh and a hug for sparkle -shall I come and sit on the MIL box too ?

OP posts:
Gigondas · 18/04/2012 12:47

Oh and I will sit on mil box. I am lucky in that mine is a loon but dh knows that. Fortunately we have now got across 1. Radiotherapy has changed somewhat since 1961 2. As has cancer prognosis 3. You have a c section on your tummy not your back.

It would take too long to explain why she thought these things amongst others (like me working on the typing pool ).

Link doesn't work but sherrill sellman is a naturopath. I am not against complimentary therapies but when it comes to cancer , I think I would prefer advice from an oncologist

Gigondas · 18/04/2012 13:04

The example of what happened to Steve jobs and also this homeopathy on trial in australia means I would be cautious about complementary therapies and cancer.

smee · 18/04/2012 13:15

Hmm, Hanover that link doesn't work. Tamoxifen's been strongly proven to reduce risk of recurrence in hormone positive women and I for one am mighty glad I have a chance to benefit from it. Good for your friend though, each to their own and all that.

ILGC, that's FANTASTIC NEWS. Smile Smile How utterly brilliant for your DD and for all of you. I hope from now you will all be healthy and happy. Can't believe what a lot you've all been through.

Wonder how Gracie's getting on. Really hope she gets her first one done today.

MAS, your blog's incredibly interesting. Must have been quite a decision, but I do think it's brilliant - both for you and for anyone who finds it. I will keep reading if I may. Meant to say that your DS will adore NYC. Tell him from me that he absolutely has to walk across Brooklyn Bridge. Preferably from Brooklyn side across to Manhattan.

Gig, midi-Gig's starting school. Shock That's amazing - am sure from what you've said of her that she'll take it in her stride though.

Amber, hope your friend's had some better news by now, though it doesn't sound good for her. Sad

Jane, how's your mum today? Must be one heck of a worry.

Kurri, running?! Shock

Waving to Ned - get your wellies on and get splashing. Rain's a tonic if you go for it. Grin

Sparkle, your DS will be 9?! Wow, how amazing. Mine will be 8 soon. Do you think they'll still want to save the world when they're teens? Smile

So much work here, am drowning.. Genuinely haven't a clue how it'll all get finished. Have just polished off the remains of a bag of mini twirls for inspiration. Would throw some on the fbtrolley, but they've most definitely gone. Blush

Gigondas · 18/04/2012 13:20

She is- have just had an email from pre school about "transition" arrangements for reception. Confused isn't that I just need to make sure she can get dressed by herself ??

amberlight · 18/04/2012 13:28

Sparkle, eek and urk re your MIL - an extra helping of something from the Brew and FBS trolley for you.

Friend has another scan next week as CT's shown something else. They don't think it more cancer but have to be sure. So more waiting.

Hanovergirl, hi from me too, but I agree with the others that many of the modern drugs do have a real benefit in preventing either recurrence or death. It's very much a personal choice for people, of course, but the statistics are solid for outcomes. www.lbbc.org/Understanding-Breast-Cancer/Breast-Cancer-News/Tamoxifen-Reduces-ER-positive-Recurrence-Rate may be a useful thing to read.

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 13:31

Gig- Grin Something like that, but they should also do a little series or couple of afternoons of taster sessions.

Kurri - running? I missed that. Kurri come and sit down, wgat do you think you are doing Shock

Smee - I really hope they still want to save the world for some time to come!

Thank you for the offers to sit on the MIL box, come and sit with me, I am perched on it right now!.

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 13:33

xpost amber -thank you I won't say no to something from the fbs trolley.....

More waiting and worrying for your friend....I am sorry about that.

Gigondas · 18/04/2012 13:35

Amber it could be "hormonal"- they did rescan on my spine for similar reasons as your friend and concluded it was pregnancy related. Still bloody worrying for her though.

Smee - I dont blame you for eating all the mini twirls. They are yummy.

Sparkle - if we put our mil in the box would that save time? Or maybe create some kind of mil zoo where you can come and see what they say/do.

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 13:37
Grin
SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 13:38

mini twirls.....did someone mention????

smee · 18/04/2012 13:39

mini twirls all scoffed. They were on offer in Tescos. Will get more

SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 13:40

Hmm.....where is my nearest Tescos......

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2012 13:59

I scoffed my mini Twirls yesterday- I think there are some choc digestives for the trolley.
smee am glad you liked my blog -yes,please do keep reading Grin Will tell ds about going over Brooklyn Bridge. When I was in NYC which was when I was 19 we stayed with people in Brooklyn nr Coney Island and took the subway over the bridge to Manhattan - ds will be in his element- hope he gets loads of opportunities for building photographing -to make up for all the shops the girls will be trailing around.
amber that's worrying for your friend - will be thinking of her.
I agree too about tamoxifen being the best medication - complementary stuff is fine and dandy as just that, but not enough to deal with cancer. But thanks Hanover for the link.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 18/04/2012 14:02

Well will just have to settle for a Brew then...anyone else?

smee · 18/04/2012 14:04

Amber your poor friend, waiting's so horrid. Sad

MAS, your DS will be so frustrated if he has to trail round shops all the time, though 5th Avenue is pretty awesome in terms of buildings too. Empire State Building's astounding too (obviously), but the Twin Towers Memorial's worth him visiting too - quite something to see the footprint of the old towers and to be so close to the new ones as they're built. I think he'd love the Guggenheim too - not tall, just extraordinary. Smile

I have just posted a couple of NY pics. Hope they work!
