here we are- how did that happen ?

Morning All

Rough night last night , spent it with a 12 year old boy in my bed !
DS had been complaining of not feeling well all day , and bad mummy that I am I thought he was putting it on .
Well at midnight he appeared at the side of my bed hallucinating !
Told me everything was too loud and kept trying to push pig/dog away (pig/dog was asleep in the kitchen at this point !)
Long story short , he had a temp of almost 103 .

So now waiting for DH to get home from work so he can take over , then I have to go and help my friend with her curry evening .

Hope everyone is having a good weekend , and that you are all feeling ok today .

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 11:38

Kurri hope antibios se wear off quickly- know all too well it's not the best.

Topsy sorry ds is poorly- hope he is feeling a bit better (and enjoy the curry).

Amber love the outfit.

Waves to everyone else- how are you today Gracie?

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/03/2012 11:51

poor ds topsy -hope he feels better very soon and you too kk.
smee wanted to wish you a fabulous time in NY -safe journey and we'll miss you xxxxxx

Well feeling better this morning. Awful night's sleep spent mostly feeling sorry for myself and crying but got up this morning and feel better. Not happy but then who would be but am trying to be more optimistic. I am usually quite an optimistic person so this pessimistic feeling is new to me. Amber you are a star, love the pink tutu but love the statistics more. I should refer my brother-in-law to you (who by the way 'knows everything about everything' but knows nothing) sent me a letter to say 'You have an 85% survival rate'. What a prat.

Topsy you are so going to wish you hadn't offered local information :) hope your son is feeling much better. it is awful when they are sick. No-one has mentioned a wig to me, I thought I had to sort that myself. BCN phoning Monday so I will mention it to her then.

Smee have a super time in NY soooooooooo Envy but after what you have been through you really deserve it.

1step I may have missed your post but have you a date yet for your op?

DH has taken the kids and mad dog out for a walk and then we are out for dinner for DS1 birthday. I intend to eat until I burst no point dieting this week :)

So glad I have found this place.

amberlight · 31/03/2012 16:49

gracie, there's all sorts of dodgy and useless and ancient statistics out there. Mine are based on the latest research and the latest treatment regimes, but of course don't have the benefit of the actual doctor's notes so are only as good as the info we have here. But even when it gets in the nodes and elsewhere, the odds are still bloomin good these days thanks to the modern treatments such as FEC4 x Tax4 and cyberknife. Provided the teams know what they're doing.
Chemotherapy - I was the weird woman who worked all the way through it. Grin Some nausea, but it was do-able. I took ginger supplements before each one, wore sea band wrist thingies, and sipped ginger beer. And took all the tablets they said to take. And I was on the toughest regime you can have. It was hard going by the 8th dose, but it worked. So chemo isn't automatically a bad thing. Just depends if your body likes it or not.
Have another Brew. Plenty for everyone else too.

Been for a long trek up and down hills, with no dodgy heart bits!! Hurrah!

1stepatatime · 31/03/2012 17:15

Hi Gracie, glad you're feeling a bit brighter today. Enjoy your Ds's birthday dinner, you deserve a treat :) My op (mastectomy) is on 10th April. BCN has told me that the bc is oestrogen positive so assume I'll need medication at some point, but won't know exactly what my follow up treatment will be for a few weeks yet.

Amber - glad your heart seems to be sorting itself out, it must be a huge relief when it behaves itself!

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 17:18

gracie - your bil does sound like a prat, - send him over here, we will sort him out Smile

topsy - sorry DS is unwell - poor chap, hope he feels better soon. - Curry evening tonight - make sure you sample all the dishes and report back Grin

Well done on the trekking amber - there's no stopping you now!

DD is page turning for a choral concert tonight at this rather lovely church in the centre of Norwich front view, so she's digging around trying to find something that will pass as concert dress.

1stepatatime · 31/03/2012 17:30

Kurri - what a beautiful church, it's very impressive! Are you going to the concert? Hope you're feeling OK and not suffering too much from the antibiotics.

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 17:57

1step - I was going to go, but not feeling quite up to it - I need to be near loos at the moment! I think they are doing something by Rossini, - not sure what but DD said it was a lovely piece.

I've hardly seen her today because she was teaching this morning, rehearsing this afternoon and has dashed home for an hour or so to eat and get ready for tonight. - All a bit last minute, she's filling in for someone, but the pay is reasonable.

It is a beautiful church, especially when it is all lit up at night time, - it has some very beautiful stained glass in it - definitely worth a visit if anyone is ever in Norwich. The big glass building in the background is The Forum - which is essentially the city library, although it has restaurants and a shop and exhibitions in it too. - Also a lovely building, though very modern. The old and the new sit rather well together. Smile

1stepatatime · 31/03/2012 18:17

It's a shame you're not able to go, but it's best for you to be settled at home if you're still suffering - hope it soon passes. Your DD sounds like a very busy lady! I've never been to Norwich, but we pass relatively nearby when we holiday at the Norfolk coast, so will bear it in mind xx

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 18:38

kurri church looks amazing. Did dd find a dress?

amber is right re stats. There is nothing remotely relevant on Mine on net which figures. I know there is nothing on net that helps do my job properly so why would this help. And while we ware dealing with Gracie's bil, my mil and her 70s radiotherapy experience (she was trained and worked then) which isn't helpful.

Wish me luck- trying earlier bedtime with mini gig.

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 18:46

Good luck with mini gig tonight Gig, hope she decides earlier bedtimes are to her liking Smile

DD has gone in smart black trousers and white blouse, - she reckoned it might be a bit cold for a dress in the end. The lady conductor who picked her up was in trousers - so it should be fine Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/03/2012 20:23

gorgeous church kk - kit sounds as though dd is doing v well with her music -teaching and page turning. My dad has joined the local concert band (less scary than the concert orchestra he says !) and will be playing his oboe in a concert at the end of April - one of the churches in town- he insisted I stuck a poster up in my window !
Shock at your tactless and silly BIL gracie
Been out to buy clothes, suitcase and bag for ds for the NY trip- trousers and shorts from the kids Gap and t shirts from the adult Gap- hooray that the extra small size in men's fit properly- and a very lovely zip up shoulder bag from Converse - we thought much cooler than Superdry which are annoyingly everywhere (and over priced,in my opinion)
Squirted myself with miss Dior in debenhams- nice.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 31/03/2012 20:30

Have a great trip Smee -mas your post reminded me. And agree about superdry.

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 20:49

Nice that your dad has a concert so soon MAS - that will be fun for him Smile

DD has another pupil starting after Easter - an adult one, so she is gradually building up.

Also want to say have a wonderful trip Smee, - in case you don't get a chance to come back on - I imagine you are pretty busy (do you need volunteers to sit on your suitcase?)

DS's clothes sound very nice MAS, - I haven't seen this superdry stuff - although I keep seeing it mentioned on MN.

Apparently my annoying nephew has dyed his hair black and started wearing fingerless gloves, - according to my mother, this is so he can 'join a gang called the Emus' GrinGrin

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 20:52

Is rod hull in the gang kurri?

Adding Cadbury mini eggs to fbs as eating while watching bgt.

Mini lasted half an hour in her cot til had to get her out (no shock as big gig was a shocker about evenings).

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 21:04

arf@Rod Hull, - the funniest thing is knowing how irritating DN will find it, that my Mum is calling him and his chums Emus Grin

Also going to watch BGT (on +1 as I was watching The Voice earlier) mini Gig obviously wanted to watch it too! Smile

Figgyroll · 31/03/2012 21:16

Evening everyone.

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 21:24

Is it draw something Figgy? I am addicted. Glad you are feeling bit less yuck.

NedSchneebly · 31/03/2012 21:35

Bollocks, have missed loads again. . .

gracie, my love, will you give yourself a break? Cut yourself some slack, cry as much as you need to and keep taking to us. Chemo is a bitch, but do- able. I was barely sick at all in pregnancy, but am suffering a bit in chemo. Sounds a good idea to get a syringe driver - I know topsy swears that hers was the best thing ever! I got better anti sickness drugs for my second cycle, and it was much easier. Have you been told which drugs you're having? Maybe FEC? Take if easy and take one day at a time.

gig hope you OK. Whens the drain coming out, or have I missed that?

kurri hope you're taking it easy? Sorry about squits - keep your fluids up. . . topsy got any more g&t?! Good for DD - sounds like she's building up a really good list of pupils.

smee HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I really hope you have a brilliant time. Hope you're all packed! Look forward to hearing about your adventures when you get back x x

amber I love your statistics! And your tutu is pretty bloody fab too Smile Will you be wear it for the raid?

MAS glad you managed to get T sorted for his trip. When does he leave? Bet he's really looking forward to it.

topsy hope DS better this evening? How was curry? DH and I went out for curry tonight - our "last weekend before chemo" treat. Yum. . .

Waves to mrsmcnulty, sparkle, sometimes , 1step and anyone else I have missed. Big hugs to all x x x

NedSchneebly · 31/03/2012 21:36

X post figgy glad you're feeling better. Use hols to rest, yes!?

Figgyroll · 31/03/2012 21:40

Gig, yes that's the one.

Will def rest, Ned.

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/03/2012 22:53

I tried to find that on my phone figgy - mind you, shouldn't start getting addicted to another thing-I'll never get any work done.
Emus made me laugh kk Grin

KurriKurri · 31/03/2012 23:03

DD has come home very pleased, she was paid earlier today by the choir, but as she was leaving this evening the pianist said 'I hope you don't mind but it's such a treat to have a competent page turner, I've bought you a little something' - and he'd got her a box of chocs, and a £20 fat Face voucher!

Figgy - I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, - hopefully you'll be able to recuperate fully during the Easter Hols. - take it very easy.

Hello ned Smile glad you enjoyed your meal, I love curry.

smee · 31/03/2012 23:21

No time to write anything and haven't managed to read all your posts either. Still trying to finish a blinkin' work project and haven't packed.. Ah well, tomorrow is exciting.. Smile

Wishing you all purely good things. I will raise a toast to you all from Manhattan - or should that be my low rent apartment in sub-town Brooklyn. Grin
