Where are you doing it?
I'm at Marlborough. Have to sign up.
It was in May last time. So not too hot and it was breezy too.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 24/01/2006 23:30

Ipswich - easier to get dad to have the girls if DH is working.

Its 16th july at 7.30pm, so hopefully be cooler in the evening!

I am doing the Nottingham one on 4th June. Would be great if we could get a Mumsnet "team" taking part around the country, may even get some publicity about it?

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/01/2006 11:47

anyone else?!

OP posts:
MistressMary · 25/01/2006 11:59

Cripes I thought I would see loads of names by this am?
so thats um 3 of us altogether?

Furball · 25/01/2006 12:15

I've just posted this on the lardy ladies thread
if anyone else is interested

Mae1 · 25/01/2006 12:18

Considering doing it again this year - did it last year - ran/walked in target time of 45 mins - and felt great (a bit tired though!).
I'm in Leeds and have a choice of 3 dates in two locations (May or July). Trying to convince a few others to join in as well!

jambuttie · 25/01/2006 12:36

can this be done anywhere?

We are in Livingston(outside edinburgh') know hubby would love to do it

MistressMiggins · 25/01/2006 12:38

jambuttie - its women only

jambuttie · 25/01/2006 13:06

maybe i can do it instead may give me the kick up the arse i need

uwila · 25/01/2006 13:26

I like the idea of a mumsnet team. Might join if one is formed. It would have to be somewhere in the London area for me. But, I'm not too fussy. I don't mind driving a bit.

tangerinecath · 25/01/2006 13:46

Like I said on the Lardy Ladies thread I'm really tempted to join, but I'm a little wary as I'm quite overweight at the moment. I really need something to get me up off my arse and this would be ideal as it's for a cause I really believe in. I'd be very self conscious of going out training but I suppose that the weight would start shifting as I got better at the running.

Furball that link was great, the routine looks achievable.

There's a race running past the end of my road so I suppose I've got no excuse really

Elibean · 25/01/2006 14:09

Hmm...are you allowed to walk/run/walk/run or does the whole 5km have to be run?
Spot the scaredy cat

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/01/2006 15:25

Eli - its walk or run or both! As long as you take part, i dont think they would care if you crawled!

Im doing it to give me the kick up the backside i need to shift post-baby weight!

I have signed up for it too!

I am doing the Windsor one (around a lake, which sounds lovely!) on July 12th, which is a Wed, at 7.30pm.

I too am about 2.5 - 3 stone overweight but hoping this will give me some incentive!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/01/2006 15:46

i put 16th July earlier- its not - its the 19th! Mines a wed night at 7.30pm too.

I am by no means a runner, or even a fitness fanatic. The only regular exercise I do is the school run!

I did the Flora Light 5k back in 2004 to raise money for the Downs Syndrome Asssoc. I did really well and raised just over £1300!!! But for most of it I did walk, one of the women that was doing it had a hip problems and my sister and me felt we couldn't just "run" off and leave her. It was a scorcing September day and we did it in just over an hour. With the little bit of training I did, I should have been able to complete it in about 40-45 minutes.

NEXT TIME I will try to set myself a time goal. They are running it in a new place, not far at all from here. Although I haven't signed up yet.....I am sure I will!

olivo · 25/01/2006 17:33

I've done it for the last 3 years and have just signed up tonight for this year. I even managed to run it last year (was with a friend who is a 'proper' runner and was to embarrassed to admit how shattered i was! )
Felt very proud of myself though!

JenumGeranium · 25/01/2006 21:17

Looks like I can't back out now!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/01/2006 21:27
