Sometimes - you can have fruit as a daytime snack (try not to get over excited Grin)

Does waddling out to the kettle for Brew and then sitting down in front of the telly count as aerobic?

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/02/2012 14:59

waves to smee grr about having to turn down work- always tricky but sometimes you just have to. Dad will do the reading so he can say his little eulogy -really something he is good at and it will mean a lot to P's family.
Well done for weight loss sparkle - I am giving up chocolate as of tomorrow so that might make me eligible to join the group ? Can't give up wine though !
Am off to collect Charles who has passed his MOT !! and to pick up my package from post office- in a fit of panic and despair at my wardrobe, have ordered a stripy Breton top from Boden (yes I know I have several, but this is French navy on cream, rather than the other way round !) Thought I'd wear it with my new smart trousers and my black cardi...sober,yet cheery.

btw- it's lovely to know that we all mean a lot to one another- makes me weep ! I am extraordinarily fond of you all and would be quite lost without you.

MAS, could have said the same myself. Smile

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 15:07

Ohh - that sounds nice top Mas. Had nap so feeling brighter . Managed to allay lovely nanny (thank god decided to save up and keep her on during ml as has been a wonder . Not least as her bf had melanoma so has been tower of strength) about dd2 while I napped. She is doing all the learning about newborns with her so doesn't appreciate how windy (and greedy in case of my kids Grin) they are. I have yet to get to snot analysis but have had some interesting discussions on nappies with dd1 ( sadly we are still very much in the age of poo fascination).

Will support the trio of healthy dieters with suitable snacks. I hate to say that dx is a bloody effective way to lose baby weight - but weight doesn't actually mean body normal (not that I care with everything else going on).
And know what you mean about the support here- I don't know how I would cope.

Sometimesiwonder · 21/02/2012 15:15

hooray for Charles!

Ah I'd forgotten fruit snacks. Can't get excited about them though.

Wheeling out fruit basket forlornly as I type....

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 15:21

How about virtual drinks trolley? Wine is fruit based...

thegreylady · 21/02/2012 15:33

I have lit a candle too.Too many wonderful women are taken far too soon by this cruel disease.
I am pranma-namechanged permanently.

Sometimesiwonder · 21/02/2012 15:47

Like the name change pranma Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 21/02/2012 15:47

Gig Grin

smee · 21/02/2012 15:49

Hi Pranma. I like the name too. Most distinguished. Smile How's your shoulder? Was it carrying little ones or the bra causing it..?

KurriKurri · 21/02/2012 16:35

It's great you have some help with the children Gig - I think trying to cope with major illness and a new born would be nigh on impossible, - for me certainly, - I had a hungry one too, - it really takes it out of you trying to keep up with them!

Hi pranma/TheGreyLady - love the namechange, it reminds me of a Wilkie Collins novel Smile You are right about this bloody illness. Sad

Well done to Charles MAS - top sounds lovely, - you will look lovely in a breton top as you are a slim elegant lady.

Pleased to hear that Wine is a healthy snack Grin - presumably one of our five a day.

I've been trying to clear up some junk that has mysteriously accumulated in the porch and garden, DH put it there, but got too cold so having a cuppa instead now.

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 16:38

It is very wilkie Collins. Wine is definitely one of the five a day .

thegreylady · 21/02/2012 16:44

When someone on mn suggested googling a poster's nn to find out about the possibility of trolling I googled myself instead :).Lots of 'pranma' related stuff nothing relevant to me but about other people-it must be a name somewhere. I shose it because it was dgs's first attempt at 'grandma'.So....I got rid of her and now the grey lady stalks the site wafting her draperies and making occasional woooooo.....wooooooo noises.Watch your hair stand on end as she passes through the thread Grin .

smee · 21/02/2012 16:46

Gig, I read that as 'Wilkie Collins is definitely one of the five a day. Grin

thegreylady waft more draperies on here. We like woooo.. wooooo noises. Grin

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 16:47

Smile at grey lady

thegreylady · 21/02/2012 16:48

Re shoulder-I think it was carrying hefty toddler combined with unsupportive bra.I did go to GP who said it felt/sounded like a muscular problem but said I could have a bone scan after 6 weeks if I felt worried. In fact a new bra and avoiding lifting Edward meant the pain gradually disappeared.I do tend to suffer from 'canceritis' as I think we all do :( Its all about 'the land of the new normal'.
Thanks for remembering.

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 16:51

Grey lady sorry you had canceritis (a new word for me but getting to know it well). Fwiw i have had terrible shoulder and neck pain from lugging dd (ESP in a sling) so toddler related muscle ache certainly can do that .

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 16:52

Also gave me shocking muscular tension headaches from neck strain

thegreylady · 21/02/2012 16:55

You know this thread is,in many ways, more supportive than the big breast cancer sites because it is about us as people not just us as bc sufferers. We can be daft, angry, sexy, funny or just a group of friends talking. We have one horrid thing in common but it binds us into a very special group.I dont post here often but read every day.I am very grateful to MAS for starting the original thread.I wish it had been there when I was dx back in 2006.

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 16:57

I think that's right which is why it is so good even for those with other types of cancer like me. The thing I have found hardest is reconciling all this to my life and as you say I am not sure that you get that on some of the other sites.

smee · 21/02/2012 17:01

Glad your latest bout of worry has lifted greylady. Canceritis is a sod and a half. Coincidentally, I've got shoulder pain now too. Was nearly gone yesterday, but then I carried a huge stack of files around for an hour or so and of course today it's back. Even though it's intermittent and has gone in the past, it still worries me. This land of new normal is v.hard work. Hmm

smee · 21/02/2012 17:03

x-posted, but from your list, think I'll have to aspire to 'sexy'. Not sure where that side of me went. Know what you mean about the Cancer sites. I can't cope with them at all.

holstenlips · 21/02/2012 17:07

Hey all, can I count myself out from the dieting as I've just eaten 4 pancakes with choc sauce. It's funny actually cos one thing I'm going to talk to the counsellor about on Thursday is issues with eating, since diagnosis. I don't know why but I find eating hard..apart from today :)
I was popping on to say hi to all, some I haven't met (curtseys) and
also to say that this group (you lot!) honestly help so much. I agree that we can be ourselves, with each other, its very hard to describe but I wouldn't have got through this half so well without you all..so thanks , love and pancakes to all
Oh, and I have shed tears over this thread too but I don't see that as a bad thing. I'm really waffling! (sugar overload)

KurriKurri · 21/02/2012 17:09

Canceritis - good word for a horrid phenomenon.

Toddlers are cunning, they look like tiny people, but they are hefty beasts in disguise and will do your shoulders in at the drop of a hat. Grin
