topsy - that sounds horrible, -hope it has gone now, try to have plenty of fluids.

Sometimes - how annoying about the funding for your op., but I think you are right to stay on the list - these things can change all the time, and you don't want to go backwards with the waiting list.

Drift - only 2 left - hooray, you will have to take up a new hobby to fill all that extra time! Grin

1in8 - great that you have managed to keep your hair, my oncologist was one of the pioneers to do with the developing of the cold cap - so he's very keen on it - it didn't work for me, but well worth it when it does I'm sureSmile

I've uploaded a nice picture of Dad onto my profile - taken a few years ago when he was about 70, he's eating a sandwich and has a rather typical slightly sardonic look in his eyes Smile - I made him the jumper he is wearing, - it was one of his favourites Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 14:23

oh kk - your dad looks lovely ! his jumper is fab too...what a nice picture- have you got it framed at home ?
topsy do hope you are resting in bed and not feeling too awful.
sometimes grr about operation funding, but excellent to hear that the pilates has been so helpful.

KurriKurri · 27/01/2012 14:27

Yes I have MAS - I've got a bigger copy of it and another one where he is leaning on a gate, in frames - and a really lovely one of him when he was about 20 - I will try to get those ones on my profile too, but will have to wait until DH gets home, as they are on his computer.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 14:30

oh lovely...did you keep his jumper ? My mum kept her mum's handbag after she died, with all it's things in- I used to open it to sniff her smell.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 14:32

I meant to say,Winston's Wish for ILGC's dd - they sound very good for children's/young people's bereavement help. I can recommend Cruse - totally brilliant.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 14:34

Winstons Wish

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 27/01/2012 14:36

I'm not sure if we've got that one MAS - I think it must have worn out eventually a few years back. I did make him a chunky cardigan more recently (after he got alzheimer's), but he took exception to the buttons and cut them off Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 14:40

Grin ! I really like the neckline in the picture one.

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 27/01/2012 14:48

Crikey KK your Dad has a very intelligent look about him (and he looks really gentle too). How lovely.

MAS - Shock about DH's card. I am so glad they were stopped. How do these people sleep at night? Angry

I am very excited to get the picture, MAS, the preview is very lovely. And it looks just like both Mum and dd.

OneinEight - long may your hair remain. I was not allowed to use a cold cap, but I would very much have liked to try and keep some hair

jchocchip · 27/01/2012 14:51

Oh kk that is a lovely picture.

smee · 27/01/2012 15:50

sometimes, that's a bit of a Shock about the op funding. Was only thinking about that the other day, so was going to ask you when it was happening. New blinds sound fab. We have a roller blind in the kitchen, which is covered in squashed moths. DS thinks it's 'beautiful'. Hmm

Drift, hooray for just 2 left. Smile Smile How's the skin then?? Is it holding up?

Kurri, that is a fantastic picture. You can feel his personality shining through. Jumper's pretty impressive. Topsy'll get all Envy and stab you with her needles. Grin

MAS hooray indeed for Barclaycard. Quite scary when that sort of thing happens.

I am eating Cheesy wotsits. Haven't had any for years. Smile

KurriKurri · 27/01/2012 16:19

thanks all, - it is one of my favourite photos of him Smile

Phew about the theft being intercepted MAS, - good for Barclay Card.

bathroom blind sounds good Sometimes - my bathroom is in urgent need of being tarted up, so I'm v. Envy

Ah cheesy wotsits - haven't had those for years - are they still that rather dangerous shade of orange, or have they toned them down a bit? Grin

smee · 27/01/2012 16:31

Yep, still horribly orange Kurri, but hey it's Friday, so I thought I'd go wild. Grin

BackforGood · 27/01/2012 17:42

jchocchip we've always know it as the Aston Distressway - seems more fitting really. Glad the rest of the journy was OK though.
KK all that counting rows and holding stitches sounds far too much to me like concentration Shock - I tended to knit in front of the tele or as a passenger in the car, I can't be counting as well Blush...... all this talk has got me thinking I might get the knitting needles out again. If I start now, I might finish a jumper for my (then 2 yr old's) nephew's birthday - in February 2013 Wink
Sometimes - I too love new house stuff. We had a new stairs / landings carpet just before Christmas, and I have to stop myself stroking it with a big cheesy grin on my face everytime I walk upstairs Grin. What with that and my bedroom now decorated, the house is beginning to look nearly as nice as it did in the particulars before we dumped all our 'stuff' in it
drift - so glad the end is in sight. That sounds like a horrendous journey. I'm so glad I live in a big city near all facilities. Don't rush into overdoing things though - it was after the rads finished that I really felt soooooo tired, and only then my skin started being sore/peeling/painful... something to do with them continuing to build up in a cummulative way, apparantly.

Driftwood999 · 27/01/2012 19:18

KK - it's a lovely picture of your dad and you must have so many memories. MAS - I used to sniff my dad's overcoat after he died, when I visited mum. I think it was a good 8 months before she cleared out his wardrobes. She still sleeps with one of his snowy white hankies under her pillow. All important stuff.
Topsy - poor you nursing a bug! Hope your dh is not too badly effected for your sake Grin Diorylte (sp) replacement salts are good.

smee · 27/01/2012 20:53

Hugs from me too Topsy. Hope the whole family don't go down with it. Wishing you all a lovely weekend. Smile

holstenlips · 27/01/2012 21:17

Hello everyone, I got home this afternoon. Will post more, at the moment its just pain :( at least I'm home x

amberlight · 27/01/2012 21:51

Holsten, heck re pain...can you take something else for it?
hi all. I'm a bit quiet as I'm thinking about what to do about this peripheral neuropathy lark. Why the heck don't we have any answers for this, or even any research? Gee whizz.
Wine for those in need.

jchocchip · 27/01/2012 22:45

Glad you are home Holsten. :( about the pain.

Nighty night all. I have to stay up to take the bread out of the breadmaker as I failed to turn it on before I went out. Won't be too long now. Still in lurve with the machine. It will take a while to payback the investment although not as long with the price of bread these days! Not wanting to give it freezer space, I think it is more convenient for us to store bread as flour...

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2012 23:03

bet your house smells lovely with all that breadmaking jane
Hooray that you're home holsten - take it easy x
And a hug for amber

Morning All

Feeling much better today , thanks for all the get well wishes .
Woke up about 15 mins ago with no headache , no botty probs , and definitely no vommitting ! So I am thinking it may have passed .

Welcome home Holstein . What pain killers did they send you home with ? And whats your after care package like ? Any district nurses visiting you ?
Make sure that you get your GP to do a home visit for you if you are in that much pain , he can prescribe you something stronger .

Knocks everyone flying to get at janes bread .
What machine did you get ? And how much was it (if you don't mind me asking !) ?

Plans for the day ?
First long hot bath since before rads . Skin finally drying out , so can have bubbles and everything !

Then off to force DS to get a haircut . May have to take the duct tape with me ... Grin

Figgyroll · 28/01/2012 11:52

Morning all. Sorry I've been awol - have been in a very insular, angsty mood for almost a week, worrying away about all sorts of things, bc related and not. I am getting sick and tired of scar that wont heal, have a pain along front of scar (a sort of tightness as if the scar is going to burst if I do anything strenuous) and have painful joints which is probably a result of letrazole (it's one of the side effects and I thought I'd escaped until the last couple of weeks). But I've given myself a stiff talking to, slapped myself with a wet haddock and decided to phone the bc nurse on Monday for a moan chat.

I've been reading but have forgotten lots of what you've all been up to/going through so please forgive me for not commenting individually. I will pay more attention from today.

KK, I love the photo of your dad - an enigmatic looking man and he looked marvellous for his age. The jumper looks so comfy, no wonder he loved it.

Topsy, glad you're feeling better this morning. Great news. Take it easy and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Love to everyone this fine, sunny morning....and sausage sarnies and Brew for anyone feeling a bit peckish.

NedSchneebly · 28/01/2012 12:34

I've been a bit absent too, but thinking of you all.

topsy glad your bug has departed. Do quite like the word "botty" Grin enjoy bath too!

jane bread maker smell is lovely!

Hey figgy hope you OK. thinking of you too ILGC and your brave, wonderful DCs x x

oneineight what drug combination are you on? Good news on the hair!

kk great photo. That is one well loved jumper!

Nearly there Drftwood yay!

holsten hope you're bearing up OK today x x

Hugs for amber

MAS I LURVE my picture! E lives in the same town as you!

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone Blush Hope everyone enjoying sunshine where you are x x x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/01/2012 12:35

a hug for you figgy - and yes, speak to bcn- will help I'm sure.

Sometimesiwonder · 28/01/2012 15:04

BackforGood - new carpet Envy I would be stroking it too. I love new carpet. We need one for our bedroom actually, ours is getting threadbare

Welcome back Holsten, but don't put up with too much pain, it's not necessary to be a stoic.

I am glad to hear you are back and feeling a bit better Topsy and Figgy.

Am working away here, but quite excited because I think my new picture that MAS has done for me is waiting for me in my neighbour's house (he rescued it from the postman while I was out). I do wish he'd come back soon......

In other news, a case of wine has arrived which is bitter sweet because I was meant to cancel our regular order but forgot: on the other hand, it looks quite inviting Smile
