amberlight · 13/01/2012 09:34

I'll have a Brew as well please, and will add some Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit for those in need.

Heart tests this aft. Not sure if I'll get the results today or on 23rd when I see my Onc. It's really hurty for me because of the amount of pressure from the scanning thingy and my left boob is still sensitive from surgery and rads so I'm taking DH for moral support. But at least Ive got a nice meal out with a friend tonight to look forward to.

Good luck to everyone else with appointments today - shall be keeping my fingers crossed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2012 10:46

hope it's over quickly amber and not too uncomfortable xxx

Nice one, Amber! That's great news! Thanks for the Brew!

I've been spoilt by my parents today- new clothes, new iPod headphones for hospital next week, yummy food for the weekend and lunch out. Am feeling loved!

Hope everyone else has had a reasonable day? What news?

KurriKurri · 13/01/2012 16:12

Hello amber - I'm here Grin - ate rather a large lunch and have sort of flopped but I think I could squeeze in a cuppa.

I'm glad your heart results were fine, and hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you.

Good luck to everyone else with appointments today.

Your poor DS BFG - how did he manage to break his thumb?

No sign of baby yet, - I already have a great niece and a great nephew, this new one will be a little brother or sister for the great niece Smile I think the mum (my niece) is a bit nervous about getting to the hospital on time - first baby was over 9lbs, and labour from start to finish was 2 hours!!!

KurriKurri · 13/01/2012 16:13

Oh its nice to be spoilt Ned Smile - I found my mp3 player was the thing I used most in hospital - I put a couple of audiobooks on mine as well as music.

smee · 13/01/2012 17:20

Ah Ned, your parents sound lovely. They must be worried about you, so it's great you can spend time and let them treat you. Are they going to help with DS next week?

Grin at soggy undercarriage.

Amber, that is most excellent news. Must have been a tough appointment, so you deserve a meal out. Hope it's fun. Smile

Figgy, am liking the sound of your holiday plans. Very well deserved, though am still Envy Smile

Kurri, hope the baby arrives soon. How is Great Auntie Kurri? Are the whiskers coming along nicely. Grin

BFG, how annoying that your son did it at exam time. Hope hospital were helpful.

Topsy, I hope it eases soon for you. You'd be exhausted even without the pain you're in. Will Wine help?

Hope Marmite and Eight are good today too, and that Camel's got through okay and isn't too sore.

Busy day running around - work meetings mostly, but (and only you lot will really get this), I bought a pair of symbolic pyjamas today. My old ones (very old!) have been through two mastectomies and chemotherapy, so I thought it time to discard them for pj's new. Got some lovely men's ones from Muji in the sale. Ginormous on me, but ever so cosy. Pity I'm going out tonight really, as they're ever so tempting. Smile

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Hope all those stuck in the fun of things aren't too bad. cold out there, so wrap up. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2012 17:51

Pyjamas sound fab smee I do like Muji - I have many of their camisole things.
Hooray for heart amber !
And how lovely to feel loved ned - kind parents.
Have walked to collect S from school and we timed it -26 mins -my walk back was 23 so I must be faster on my own.
I wonder how camel is

KurriKurri · 13/01/2012 17:56

Those new PJ's sound nice, and so do your holiday plans Figgy Envy

It is bitterly cold here, but beautiful clear skies - DH might feel brave enough to dress up in his thermals, fill a flask with hot choc. and go out with his telescope tonight Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2012 18:07

I only know the Plough and Orion's Belt in star gazing, how lovely though. We used to lie on our backs on the grass or on the beach down in Dorset looking at the night skies as it was so clear, unlike London.

KK - ds damaged his thumb mucking about with his mates - he was trying to tickle one of them apparently Hmm, and the other lad put his hand up to block ds's hand coming towards him, and they all heard a crack. Those in the know - at what age do boys grow up ?
Anyway, plastic surgeon consultant today, says she doesn't see it as broken - the space the Dr at A&E saw on the X-ray was just the angle they took it from (?). She reckons it's sprained tendons. Either way, he's not happy about the inability to x-box, but actually quite chuffed about the use of lap top in exams - he did an (internal) exam this morning, and found it much easier on the lap top than writing with a pen. He's hoping he can string it out until May/June when most of the exams are Grin.
Great news amber re heart.
Excellent new PJs Smee, and how lovely to be treated by you parents Ned.
I phoned my colleague who is also off with Cancer today and she seemed quite bright - is seeing her Onc regarding starting chemo soon though - has to have 6 lots, so send her some positive vibes please ladies.

jchocchip · 13/01/2012 20:13

lots of ice up pen y ghent but no wind and clear sky so we had a lovely day!

I've a phone app that tells me the names of the stars, it's fun. My Dad knew all the stars because he was in the navy. He had tubes with pin holes in the end caps to teach them to the scouts...

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2012 21:05

been to see my parents - dad has the order of service at the crem- a double session (2 x 40 mins) but the funeral is being presided over by Buddhist monks and there is much chanting -he is worried there won't be time for him to say all he would like- apparently the family are counting on him for irreverence and amusing stories...I think I might drive us there and back,so dad can have a drink afterwards-we;re going to a nice fancy restaurant in Chiswick. I shall see their children for the first time in many years- I used to housesit for them and mind the teenagers when I was in my twenties- the daughter was quite wayward- she is now a psychologist !
Dad seems ok

Morning everyone. It went OK - they took 3 nodes in the end. It's a little sore, but not too bad at all and have now woken up. I am a little Shock that he wrote 3 weeks for the results! I'll email his secretary on Monday as I'm sure that they can have the preliminary results earlier, but will also depend where they sent the nodes to. Looking at nodes for lymphoma appears to be very specialised and technically difficult and may well have been sent to a different lab.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to a good weekend :)

jchocchip · 14/01/2012 07:45

Morning camel. Glad it went ok. Be easy on yourself while you are waiting for your results, plenty of treats.

Time for a Brew? I'll put the kettle on :)

Hoping to have a catch up day here, cleaning the house and tidying up. I can't fault dh apart from cleaning - he just doesn't get it. He happily shops and cooks and does the washing and dishwasher so I try not to complain... 10 days away though means there is lots to do!

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/01/2012 08:34

glad it went ok camel - hope not too sore - another long wait is a bit of a pain though.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 14/01/2012 09:37

Morning all - I'm glad it went OK camel and you have that bit out of the way. It's a pain having to wait so long for your results though. But at least if it's very specialised, I guess that means you will get a pretty comprehensive result when it does come, and that means things can move forward quickly from then onwards. Take it easy, hope things heal up soon Smile

I'm glad your Dad seems OK MAS, - sorry I'm not sure what day the funeral is, - is it today? , - I'd like to light a candle for all of you and of course P's family.

Positive thoughts for your friend BackforGood, - I hope everything goes well for her.
I hope DS's thumb improves soon, - tendons sounds a little bit better than a break, although still v. painful I imagine. - When do they grow out of silliness? - I've got one of 27 and we're still waiting Grin

Cuppa would be lovely jane, - I'm glad you had a lovely day out, - I rather like these cold bright days. - Take it easy on the cleaning front, - I will be doing the same today, - and during my coffee breaks I'll be trying to finish my book group read for next week. It's 'The Finkler Question' - anyone read it?

DD has just gone off to give a piano lesson, -it's her first one so she's a bit nervous I think.

jchocchip · 14/01/2012 10:08

Another Brew break. Hope your dd's piano lesson goes well. Is she teaching a beginner?

Had to have another break, cat brought a bird in this morning, feathers were in the extension but just found the dead bird in ds's room - was just going to whiz round with the vac in case he came home today.... Have delegated to dh. Frogs, spiders and dead things are his department.

KurriKurri · 14/01/2012 10:30

Yes - complete beginner jane - a little girl who is 8 I think. She's gone armed with a new book to give her, and stickers etc. Smile

Dead creatures are def. my DH's department. My sister has cats who constantly bring her 'presents' and display them on the stone step outside her kitchen. Nice!

I have washed up and made myself some porridge and stewed apple with lots of cinnamon. Yum. - Plenty of porridge left in the pan if anyone wants some (I've scoffed all the apple though Grin)

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/01/2012 11:15

yum- love podgy as it's called in this house...
Funeral is on Monday, and a candle would be lovely - found myself dreaming that mum had died (God forbid) and I was trying to organise everything but dad and my brother had also organised a funeral-argh !

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 14/01/2012 11:16

oh and do hope piano lesson goes well ! 2 of my friends are piano teachers, one quite dreads the parents of the children who like to sit in on lessons.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 14/01/2012 11:23

It is obviously all playing on your mind MAS - but those kind of dreams are horrible. Sad

The piano lesson went very well, DD says the little girl is lovely and very quick on the uptake. Apparently there might be other children from her school wanting lessons (they don't like the school lessons it seems because the children have to miss class to do them) - so she could get more pupils, which would be good.

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 14/01/2012 11:28

Hello everyone I have been lurking recently, feeling rather blue. Hope the funeral goes well MAS, my one comfort about DH's death is that his funeral was a wonderful reflection of the person he was. Kurri is the baby born yet? Topsy, thinking of you, smee, pjs sound fab, wishing everyone all the best.

KurriKurri · 14/01/2012 13:03

I'm sorry you've been feeling blue ILGC, - It must be very hard round about the year anniversary, brings everything back Sad - and with your DD being poorly too, it's been a very tough year for you. One day at a time eh? - you will have sad days, which just have to be got through somehow, but there will be happier days with fond memories too.

Baby has arrived - a little boy, 10 lbs Shock born in half an hour, - named Marcus Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/01/2012 13:33

waves to ILGC -
KK congratulations great aunt ! but 10lbs in half an hour ?? eeek
