HI Nannasylv, good to see you back. We all got a bit of a shock when you disappeared off the radar, good luck with the further appt and let's hope you get proper answers, it sound quite hopeful with thing s going in the right direction although you have to be soooo patient which is very hard when you need help. I had a weird thing with the MRI slip yesterday. I was told to hand it into reception which I did. I had to wait for the receptionist to finish her completely inappropriate conversation before she even looked at me, then handed the slip over with a smile, she looked at it as if she had never seen anything like it before, asked where I had just come from and then said 'well, we take them all over to the main hospital in one batch' as if I needed to know and waved me off. Talk about feeling like you shouldn't even open you mouth!!
Footle, don't worry, I never use essential oils neat! Five drops in 50ml almond oil and slathered all over delicate pubic bits. It was a very unusual experience, never had such a quick reaction before...I've stopped for now as it is probably better to have it swollen as normal for the MRI although I am now in more pain.
Tazzle, thanks for the hug!
14k, how did it go?
Xxx

mrsm22 · 06/04/2012 14:49

Hi Surewoman- I didn't breastfeed, but i have heard from lots of people that although my DS is now just 14 weeks old that my hormones will still be all over and that it can take much longer for things to return back to normal. So i hope that maybe things will just go back to normal in their own time and that hopefully i may be able to find a tablet to help me get by in the meantime. I think the problem is that when it's anything to do with your bladder, you tend to panic fearing all sorts of things like ending up incontinent. I have worried about so many things, like is is a prolapse etc.

Although i talk about my worry of the supermarket and being out in public, i haven't actually as yet wet myself. I just feel close at times. It's so weird, it all started 5 weeks ago and it is literally like i go for a wee and immediately after i still feel like i need to go or like i'm not emptying properly (although i have been checked and i am emptying properly).

Surewoman, Everglades, Footle and Tazzle - talking of hormones...I have been put back on the pill. Do you think this could be having any impact on the bladder? I was too scared to have a coil fitted after such a traumatic labour experience and didn't fancy anything else up there! I did have a traumatic horrid labour and i'm wondering if this is making my body take longer to heal/go back etc...what do you think? I had forceps, a hormone drip, an epidural that didn't work properly, a 3rd degree episiotomy - stitches came completely undone, then an infection in the perineum....i quiver just remembering it. Just so grateful i have a healthy and beautiful baby. Can't believe he is doing so well and i am still recovering.

Do you think just as easily as this bladder problem came on that it might one day just go on its own?

Everglades - thanks for that link. I will take a look.

Does Tena lady just help if you leak? If you were to full on flood yourself, would it still show?

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter! Do you have anything nice planned?
mrsm22 xxx

happy2beme · 06/04/2012 15:06

Hi mrsm2 Tena come in very large range of sizes and yes they will soak up all if you have the large pad on (they can be up to the size of a nappy )GrinHaving a party on Easter sunday Its my daughters 14 birthday on 11th so we use it as an excuse to have an easter get together[busmile] lol
Here is a wee cheery note -.....Went to dentist today for veneer repair( not replacing since it is hols) anyhow he says " How does that feel, yes use your tongue" lmao nearly chokedWink Shock. Haha funny what makes you laugh at least we have not lost our sense of humour and no I didnt wet myself another positive of having repair done GrinGrinGrin xxx

mrsm22 · 06/04/2012 15:27

Thanks Happy2beme - I haven't yet looked at the Tena range but thought they were just like normal sanitary towels. I will go and have a look now for definite and will invest in some for when i go out. It's such a nightmare at the moment, took the cat to the vets this morning (we have 2), went for a wee before i left the house and when our cat had been seen i was stood with my legs crossed paying as i felt this sudden awful strong urge. Luckily i managed to hold it and was fine once back in the car. For some reason, i'm so much worse when walking about then when i'm sat.

Enjoy your daughter's party and Easter party - that sounds lovely. xxx

mrsm22 · 06/04/2012 15:46

Happy2beme- very interesting what you said about your friend from school. I guess there must be so many of us with bladder issues at some time or another, but as you say, it's an embarrassing topic. Would help if it was more out in the open. Just hope mine is only a result of traumatic birth in December and that it fixes itself (i'm a real worrier and the idea of any surgery terrifies me)! Do you still suffer with this problem? And is yours due to childbirth? I know you mentioned your daughter aged 14, do you have more than one? I had my son on 28th december last year so he's 14 weeks old and he's my first. xx

fengirl1 · 06/04/2012 16:34

Hi mrsm22 - just thought I'd chip in my 2p-worth..... I don't have a continence problem but do have problems with urge, flow and emptying. It's very possible that the birth of your baby has irritated things and they are still settling. I had to be catheterised after the birth of dd1 and again after a laparoscopy (goodness knows what they did!!) - that time they drained 2 litres :-O. Things did eventually settle and sort themselves out. Your body had a huge battering and is probably still healing. Fingers crossed that this particular issue is not one iyswim.

mrsm22 · 06/04/2012 16:42

Hi fengirl1 - i'm not even sure if my problem is a continence problem (God only knows what it is)! I just have the feeling of needing to 'go' all of the time, and it intensifies when i'm walking or on my feet, as a pose to when i'm sat down. But i have the feeling that i need to wee all the time. At the moment everyone seems to think it is baby related as, like you say, my body has taken a huge battering! I was terrified of giving birth, and sadly it was an even worse experience than i imagined! Sad because it puts you off having anymore children when you've had such a hard time and problems ever since (although i would love another baby when my DS is a bit older). Can i ask, what is a laparoscopy?

happy2beme · 06/04/2012 16:48

Hi mrsm2..... Firstly congratulations on the birth of your son xxx I am 46yrs and have had 3 kids , my son would have been 27 ( but sadly he died suddenly 3yrs ago) x I have 2 daughters 14 and 10 have suffered since birth of son but got worse after girls, 3 induced labours with syntocinon and op positions, all large babies 8lb 13oz-9lb 13oz and stitches with all . A recipe for disaster lol xx
I had mixed incont , stress much better since op, in fact was going out with DH the other day and he thought i should pee before I went out , explained I didnt need to which he replied but you always need to go . So obviously things improved . I do still have UI although I can hold it without leaking too much (infact very little). My UI seems to be aggrivated by any form of caffiene and unfortunately I love, Love !!! coffee, my vice and drug of choice lol x Partial to a little red vino which also makes UI worse. After each of the kids I do remember the urge to pee being worse it did eventually get a little better x but I do sympathise spending your time planning journeys and worrying about unforseen circumstances ie that traffic jam ect ( that is one of my nightmares). It is still early days any form of iritation of your urethra will cause this sensation and you did say birth was traumatic. Keep doing your pelvic floor religously. I actually woke up the other night at 3am and in my sleep was doing pelvic floor, obsesive or what Grin.
Try to enjoy your beautiful new baby and create good memories of this time , dont get caught up in the negative before you know it this time has passed xx I am not in general a worrier but, having been through this I do apreciate how some people can be.

mrsm22 - a laparoscopy is an op where they put a small telescope type instrument in your abdomen and have a good poke around! I had several for endometriosis / infertility. It's not a 'big' op and not something you're likely to need! Smile

tazzle · 06/04/2012 17:51

it is def hard to give up the things you lurve happy2beme Wink . I get spates of "addiction" to diet coke which is the devils spawn as far as bladders go Sad so I do try to limit it.... but atm the desire for it is waning .... till the next time !

mrsm22.... I think your body has indeed had a battering and things may well settle down in the nest few weeks/ months. It can take several months for any traumatic swelling to finally resolve so that's probably why the docs are reluctant to do anything other than try the medication.

re the questions ..... I cant say for sure whether the pill would affect the bladder but prob not unless in conjunction with other circumtances ... never heard of it as a sede effect... then again I have not been on the pill since the 1980's Wink

a laparoscopy is when they operate on any part of the body by inserting cameras and instruments into the body via small puncture incisions rather than making a big incision and looking directly at the part they are operating on .... you prob seen it on tv where the surgeons are holding on to long tube like things and looking at a screen where they can see the persons insides.

I hope that the reasurance of the pads being there "just in case" will make a big difference to outings for you.

roflmao happy re waking up doing pf exercises [grin[ ........ my fave place doing them is driving lol

Having a quiet easter as still only 1 week post op but we will treat ourselves to an easter egg.... not normally something we indulge in ! I will go up and see my hors though and have a cuddle while my dH does the work bits, evenopening the gates for me. He has done the last couple days and been red faced when finished..... think he has finally realised what hard work it is looking after a horse !!!

will look and see if there is a good film to watch !

happy easter everyone Thanks

mrsm22 · 06/04/2012 18:52

Happy2beme - can i just say how truly sorry i am about your son who would have been 27 (that is so young, I am only 30 myself so not much older), that is really really sad. xx You did have good size babies. My DS was 8 pounds 3 and I am only small myself. You're right about stitches...total nightmare! Whoever stitched me up...well mine had all come away the very next day and got infected. Like you with the coffee, tea is my thing and i have switched to decaf since the uro-gyno advised me too...not nearly as nice as normal tea but never mind. If it helps, I will try it. As for the pelvic floor exercises, i'm doing loads of them each day. Very funny what you said about doing them in your sleep.

Footle - yes it could well be my urethra that has got bruised or damaged and i know the body can often heal itself naturally, so here is hoping. And it is really comforting to know I am not alone with this sort of problem.

Tazzle - I will invest in the Tena's when next shopping and let you know how that goes. How lovely that you have a horse (i love horses, and all animals for that matter).

Wishing you all a Happy (and well) Easter, and hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend. xxx

Ben10NeverAgain · 06/04/2012 19:31

Hi all

I have been reading all of your posts.

Nanny - here's hoping that everything comes back clear from you.

I'm counting my blessings that so far I've had no continence issues which I know plagued my mum and aunt. Hoping that I won't get them as I was always renouned for being able to be driven from London to Southern Germany on one wee stop Grin.

I'm very pleased about the lack of pain at the incision sites - I'm now 11 days post op. What I have is a dragging pain in my back and a bit sometimes at the perinium. Still quite a lot of bleeding which is irritating. I hate pads Angry.

I'm going to follow the advice I was given which was to start walking at 2 weeks post op with just 5 minutes walking and then build up gradually.

Ben10NeverAgain · 06/04/2012 19:32

I'm going to start a new thread as this is 991 :)

I'll post the link on here.

Ben10NeverAgain · 06/04/2012 19:43

Thread 3 here

Ben10NeverAgain · 06/04/2012 19:56

Ballsed up the thread as put it as part 3 instead of part 4. Have reported and asked MNHQ to amend the title. Don't know if anyone will be around to do it tonight though. Sorry Blush

fengirl1 · 06/04/2012 20:25

Anyone who gets lost trying to find new thread could search for Ben10 or me and follow us over.... Smile

fengirl1 · 06/04/2012 20:27

P.S. can't take any credit for making the new thread tho - all Ben10's doing. I said she was a clever Trevor! (In case you're wondering, that's what I used to say to my girls when they did something good when little - strange but true!)

Ben10NeverAgain · 06/04/2012 21:05

New thread here

happy2beme · 06/04/2012 21:36

Allegra140 · 09/05/2012 01:37

I hope this thread is not over, it helped me to make my decision
to have rectocele repair and perineum rebuild. It has
been 10 long years of suffering and not understanding
what the problems were. When I first discovered the rectocele,
I had absolutely no idea what it was. I showed it to my
Obstetrician and she actually said, I don't see anything.

Anyway, I am doing ok day 8 post op but have potential
infection of stitches and seem to have a low grade fever that is close
to the point of when they tell you to go back to the clinic. I keep
checking my temperature obsessively and just want it to go away.
Did anyone else experience this?

Hi ladies, Im a newcomer to mumsnet, joined after researching rectoceles & finding your messages. Sorry if this is tmi but, you all seem to be pretty open & have already provided lots of advice for me. I have a rectocele following dc2's birth. I can only really poo if I put my fingers in my vagina & apply pressure & find I sometimes leak a bit out of my back passage. Pretty sure there's a bit more prolapse than just rectum as my cervix feels much lower than it should & bleeds heavily after intercourse & when irritated by my pooing 'technique'. Sex is painful & I can't wear tampons as they feel uncomfortable. Sex with dh has pretty much stopped & it is causing a bit of tension. Was due to have op but dh & i decided we'd like one more baby first! Planning on trying Aug/sept but v worried about affects of another preg & birth on my pelvic floor. Plus, you have to have sex to get pregnant & it hurts! Any advice? Thanks!

Bridget944 · 28/08/2022 09:58

Can I ask how this went is it still holding up? I’m same age and waiting to see a gynaecologist. I have a rectocele and uterine prolapse. Was it had to get them to do an op? I’m desperate for one
