...here we go again

OP posts:

I'm glad it went well Sparkle - hope that's given him a confidence boost Smile

2lb is very good, - I haven't dared to weigh myself for a while, but the buggers keep weighing me when I go for my thyroid appointments at the hospital, so I can't keep my head quite as firmly in the sand as I'd like Grin

cakesandale · 14/11/2011 14:01

I like the idea of a budget Christmas. But it helps if you are good at making things, which I am not. I am right off buying and receiving stuff for the sake of it.

Sparkles - dh sounds like he is getting his act together and doing all he can. Good for him, it isn't easy to do when you've taken a big hit. I take my hat off to him. And 2lbs is brilliant!!! I haven't weighed myself for yonks but someone did tell me I was losing weight the other day. I think she may have wished she hadn't said it when I snogged her thanked her profusely Grin

smee · 14/11/2011 14:09

Sparkles, DH sounds like he's doing brilliantly. Hope something comes of it all for him. 2lb ! Smile

MAS HAS DONE NEARLY ALL HER CHRISTMAS SHOPPING?! Shock Am not feeling nearly so smug now..

Kurri, if my slacker turns out like your DS, I'll be chuffed. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/11/2011 14:14

Grin !! it's just so I can avoid fretting about shopping when I'm meant to be working smee
Hands over cake to kk
Well done to dh sparkle and well done to you for the 2llbs
kk dad's eye seems to be all sorted and am sure the face thing will be ok - he also has a knee problem which he needs sorting (it's going to be scanned) - a sailing injury...this probably bothers him most as he would be devastated if he couldn't sail anymore.

I have an understairs cupboard which is lockable , so therefore dedicated to Christmas . Not even DH is allowed in there Grin
Got a fair bit of shopping done already , and DH has booked off the 28th of this month for my CT results so we are going to try and complete the Christmas shopping on that day .
Need to make a list of what is left to get .
Also need to decide what to get DH for Christmas , he is so awkward to buy for . Whatever I buy him , I have to make sure I keep the reciepts as he generally ends up returning it after christmas .
Except for the year I bought him vouchers for a tattoo !

smee · 14/11/2011 14:28

Ooh, how exotic !! Where / what, Topsy? Do tell.

I need to find somewhere to put things. DS has a forensic knowledge of my hiding places..

MAS, I am still Shock and also fretting.. Grin Glad your dad's okay. Old age is a bugger though. I am determined to go backwards. Actually BF and I were doing that - we agreed to get to 33, then back to 31 and sashay between. Kind of worked until we were 40, then seemed a bit implausible.Sad

SparkleRainbow · 14/11/2011 14:29

Ooo did Mr Topsy get a tattoo then, or was that just to live out your own fantasy?

I habe no ideas for dh for xmas, might be a token anyway.

cakesandale · 14/11/2011 14:45

DHs are a nightmare to buy for. Any suggestions welcome (a tattoo voucher wouldn't be redeemed, sadly). I think DH is going to get me an iPod (he is dreadful at secrets). He is a major gadget boy so he has everything like that. Books stay unread, clothes unworn unless blue or grey. Particularly nice gifts in the past have been admired by his DM, and seem to miraculously end up with her, not him Angry

Nightmare.

smee · 14/11/2011 14:59

My DH is a pain too. I always buy him some freshly ground coffee from the lovely shop on Old Compton Street, a Panetonne and DS signs his name to a big hunk of Parmesan Cheese, as that's his favourite. Beyond that I'm lost.

DH has a tattoo on his lower back (I call it his tramp stamp Grin ) of 2 intertwined celtic dogs . It's a copy of a necklace I wore on our wedding day .

He loves his coffee too , I bought him an electric coffee perculator one year . He needs a bean grinder , so I can put that on his list . I had some Kona coffee sent over from Hawaii for him one year . It was meant to be one of the nicest coffees in the world . He said his usual Starbucks was better ...

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 15:10

I only go behind things like that when I have to cat .
Last time was probably at least 2 years ago Grin

KurriKurri · 14/11/2011 15:35

Cat - 15yrs old was when my DS was at his worst as far as schoolwork was concerned (and in teenageryness actually!) - so there is definitely hope Grin
He's 27 just after Christmas - how did that happen?????

DH's are awkward for gifts, mine doesn't read, like yours Cakes he only wears blue or grey Grin, edibles are definitely the way to go I think.

Grin at your DH's tramp stamp topsy, - good present idea though.

I have planted up two bowl of hyacinths, and done some weeding and planted up some tubs outside. Now I'm walking about in a strange hunched position, groaning to myself Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/11/2011 15:38

cat oh my, ds is a year behind yours and getting information out of him about GCSE stuff (or anything) is a nightmare- I am reduced to searching through his bag for clues.
Dh is quite easy to buy for thank goodness, he likes having clothes, wine and beer and books.
Haven't been able to settle to any work yet -am off to collect my girly from drama club and walk her home,so the fresh air might energise me- I have so much to do.

We let our hamster free-range all over our tv room every evening and although the room does not smell (honest), I do wonder what we will find underneath the sofa when we finally make the effort to pull it out to hoover (it is a clunky, heavy sofa bed so I don't pull it out myself and dh has a poorly back [excuses])

Untidyness pales into insignificance when you consider the mountain of rodent droppings (non-smelly, dried-up) which we may be sitting on top of Grin .

Off to rads now. Done nothing today except load the dishwasher. Although I started on the baking cupboard, its only half done so doesn't count. Must swap the rest of the appointments to morning and give myself a kick out of bed...

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 15:59

kk wins ...

Pig/dog is trying to get me to play with him . He keeps licking my hands whenever I try to type on the laptop keyboard .

Salt and vinegar chip sticks anyone ?

smee · 14/11/2011 16:00

Grin Smee polishes halo as she always tidies up cat's rodent offerings as they arrive.

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 16:01

jane I cleaned my pan drawers out last week . I think that's enough for one month ...

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 16:02

Smee - shudder !
