I am so sorry for your friend MAS, what a hard time. I will light a candle now, and send my best thoughts.

KurriKurri · 01/11/2011 13:12

How sad for your friend MAS - poor woman Sad - I will definitely light a candle for her.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/11/2011 13:14

Birthday wishes for little Sparkles. Smile

ILGC, are you home yet? I hope you've been seen to and are on the road to recovery.

MAS, a very good friend of mine has osteoarthritis and is on the waiting list for an operation to replace a few joints in each finger with new titanium (I think) ones. She is hoping it will be done before Christmas but of course is just having one hand done at a time. She is only in her 40s but it has meant she can't do her needlework, her major hobby. I will let you know how she gets on once she's had it done.

KK, DS1 wasn't allowed to go trick or treating as it was a new fad then and I wasn't sure I approved. But by the time DS2 was old enough I had relented so he was allowed to go but DS1 has never forgiven me for my unfairness. Good luck with the injections.

Pink, am very Envy of your eyelashes. I am still waiting for mine, they are miniscule, certainly not long enough for mascara. My eyebrows on the other hand are reappearing even better and thicker than before so that's a bonus Grin

Topsy, have a lovely lunch with your friend.

I have just been served a corned beef and pickle roll and a cuppa courtesy of DH. I told him earlier I wasn't going to eat any of the Halloween leftovers but am secretly hurt he didn't bring me in a mini Twix or Mars and I daren't venture into the kitchen - I'm hiding from our plumber still. Smile

cakesandale · 01/11/2011 13:48

I'll light one too...

Titanium finger joints. Yikes Shock

l4k · 01/11/2011 14:06

hello all,I am panicking again, probably being ridiculous, but still worrying about tomorrow. The consultant rang me last thurs to tell me my core biopsy was benign but kept going on about how everything had pointed to early breast cancer. Can't remember everything he said but included the asymetry and widespread patterns of calcifications that were not present on my previous mamo. And I've had no expanation of what the area of thickening actually is.
What am I likely to be told tomorrow? what questions should I be asking? is it usual to be told "we will be keeping a very close eye on you now" and to return in 6 months for a mamo after a benign biopsy result?

I'm sorry to be silly when you would all have loved a benign result but I can't help thinking this isn't over yet.My family history does put me in the highest risk catagory (god knows why I can't spell when worried-sorry)

do any of you have any words of wisdom for me?

good luck to dee for her appointment tomorrow.x

cakesandale · 01/11/2011 14:16

Good luck Dee from me too.

14k - Of course you are concerned. I am not sure what is going on here but it sounds as though they were very much expecting a definite BC diagnosis, and are still puzzled by some of your results. Some of the signs you have reported would flag up BC as a distinct possibility and, with a family history, I guess they are worried that something that is benign now COULD change in the future.

In your position I would try to just go and see what they say. Can you take someone to hear the things you can't take in?

If they say they are going to keep a close eye on you i can see why that would worry you - but, on the other hand - it will mean that you are getting the best possible care.

I will be rooting for you.

SparkleRainbow · 01/11/2011 14:18

I don't know if I can help, but I had a mass removed which was benign but "was indicative of early breast cancer" or "precancerous" I can't remember which term the consultant used. However mine was a mass which had grown inside a milk duct, rather than any widespread pattern, and I don't know if this makes a difference. Sorry......

SparkleRainbow · 01/11/2011 14:20

Oh good advice cakes, and much more supportive than I managed.....taking someone with you is a really good idea 14k, and don't be afraid to get the consulatant to repeat things until you are completely clear about what he/she is saying, and how they are going to treat you if at all, and how they are going to monitor you in the future given your fh.

smee · 01/11/2011 14:44

ldk, no wisdom from me, but I'll be rooting for you too. You're bound to be unnerved until you here all the facts, but benign biopsy's a mighty good start. Smile

MAS, your poor friend. I'll light a candle too. Sad

Birthday wishes for little Sparkles from me too. Is she having a party? Am assuming cake. Smile

Figgy, excellent news on the eyebrows. Smile imo, men are uselessly literal when it comes to FBS and chocolate. Wait 'til you hear the plumber in the bathroom and nip down to raid. Grin

Hope Topsy's recovered from her fainting fit. She'll be out buying Kurri a handbag next. Wink

kurri, how's your dad today? Is there any news?

topsyturner · 01/11/2011 14:50

A very happy birthday to mini sparkles . Turning 3 is a big one , not a baby any more !

14k I am not much help here as I actually don't know a huge amount about Breast Cancer . (mad I know , but I just can't bring myself to find out too much !) But the wise ladies here will be able to advise you .
And I'm not surprised that you are worried given your family history . You must just be waiting for the axe to fall .

mas am lighting a candle for BehindLockNumberNine . That's more than any one person should have to put up with .

Lunch done . Thai again . We should really go somewhere different , but we enjoy the Thai so much .

Housework time now .
Seem to have developed enough fur under the kitchen table to build a whole new pig/dog !
And , damn it , the sun is shining here today . So ofcourse I will have to clean the windows now .
They are completely covered in German Shepherd Nose Art Grin

topsyturner · 01/11/2011 14:52

smee thinking of setting up a Red Cross type of charity thing .
I will be airlifting parcels of handbags and shoes to the needy ...

smee · 01/11/2011 14:55

Excellent idea, Topsy. I'll shin up the drainpipe now and etch a stiletto on our roof. Grin

KurriKurri · 01/11/2011 15:03

No news of Dad so far Smee, - thank you for asking - cannot get hold of mum or sister who lives near, - so I'm assuming they are at the hospital ( my sis. had to have an outpatient dental op. so think she may be there today).

topsy - I'll send you the address of a helipad near me, for the handbag drop Grin

Good luck to Dee and 14k for tomorrow, - will be thinking of you.

The prison my DS works at has just been on the local news - an item about the cuts meaning fewer officers, and higher security and safety risks for staff. Slightly worrying. There's also been a lot of messing about with the education department, and they keep getting changing news about whether their jobs are safe.

Time for a quick shower before I brave the doctors I think. getting slightly nervous - they have made me a double appointment - that's a long time for someone to be poking about in my hand with a big needle Shock

Driftwood999 · 01/11/2011 15:38

Good luck for your appointment tomorrow DeeScent, that's going to be the big one, I will be thinking of you, I know and I haven't even begun yet! Pre assessment tomorrow, op on monday. Holding hands with all that are suffering and hats off to you all for sounding so cheerful. X

janechocchip · 01/11/2011 15:51

Hmmm. I was going to do so much today... Bit of gardening not much else. :( Time to start thinking of getting ready for trip to rads appointment. Will go soon before it gets dark I think. Left the bra off today, skin still pink.

Hope kk is ok at the doctors with the big needle...

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/11/2011 15:59

14k I think cakes' response as v good and sensible- of course you will be worrying and mulling it all over until you are told something definitely -will be thinking of you and of dee
Glad you had a nice lunch topsy - we always end up at the Wagama because we love it so much Grin
Well,I have my ink (I ended up buying another bottle or a different colour and 2 new pens) and a .....coat !!! I'd almost given up,having tried on great puffy things with furry edged hoods which are not flattering/gilets with puffy bits and furry hoods - a nice coat in White stuff but quite heavy. No jackets really. In Monsoon though-a dark grey velvet coat, light and just the thing to fling on and not feel all restricted -and fitted so it has a nice bit of shape and not dreadfully expensive. I bet dh says 'but you've already got a velvet coat'....
Thanks for thinking of BLNN -she will appreciate it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/11/2011 16:14

lookee

OP posts:
topsyturner · 01/11/2011 16:40

The coat is lovely mas . A girl can never have too many velvet coats , ignore DH !
Now , would you like me to source you a nice bag and some shoes to go with it ? I'm thinking reds ...

Sounds like TRCS&BAL (topsys red cross shoe & bag air lift) is a go-er then ?

Have just sat down for a breather as I have almost killed myself cleaning the house . All I have left to do is clean the porch door (pig/dog + glass door = grrrrr) and hoover and wash the floors . House is all sparkly now though , but the first one to dirty it - DIES !!!!! Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/11/2011 16:44

will it look nice with my turquoise suede loafers ??
Am not a huge one for bags as such, but shoes I like a lot- ooh, just remembering red mary janes !!

OP posts:
topsyturner · 01/11/2011 16:53

Turquoise would be lovely mas . Infact you could wear just about any colour with that coat , good buy !

amberlight · 01/11/2011 17:09

Heck! You know I've got radiotherapy soon? They've still not told me when it will start properly. And now dh is going to be having two urgent eye operations and I have to try to be his measurements expert for work (ours is a specialised work) as well as cope with the radiotherapy and operations all at the same time. His eyes were worse than we were told by his Totally Incompetent ex Optician. How tired will I be? Will have to ring radiotherapy team tomorrow and throw myself on their mercy, won't I...desperate to get it all done before the actual operations...

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/11/2011 17:12

as I said on facebook -bugger and lots of other stuff- poor amber..when is the first op ?
