Hello all
I am resurrecting an old tradition of boosting general health by committing to doing at least 10 mins of exercise and aiming for 10 portions of Fruit and veg a day.
The old threads always had genius titles - a particular favourite being aaah Leek out, le leek, c'est chic"

Heres hoping

Rowan I think hummus counts
I think soya milk counts but they wouldn't have it
some people think nuts count and they lie and say "banana, brocolli" when they've actually eaten a load of cashews
they are a nefarious lot

pinksomething · 07/10/2011 09:43

Hello! GrinGrinGrin
I used to be Pink and spotty but I didn't feel very pink for a while.
I like pinksomething though (Thanks captainnancy)! And I like being back!

80 sit ups/crunches done and walk 1/2 mile to school and back with the pram even tho DD begged to go in the car (pram contained nearly 5 year old plus 2 yr old on the way cause she's exhausted at the end of her first week full time!)

pinksomething · 07/10/2011 09:54

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHhhhhhh!!!!! Just seen your news Franny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations GrinGrinGrin I was going to say you can have a sticker when you get 10/10 and not before But you can have a special sticker for that :-) (And I'll do you some 'good pushing' stickers again. I know what a help that was last time

Dumbledoresgirl · 07/10/2011 10:05

How lovely seeing this thread title and then finding Franny inside! (and all you other lovely ladies, of course, but I haven't seen Franny's name in yonks.) Congrats on the baby too Franny, but bad luck on the SPD (fellow sufferer nearly 9 years after I last gave birth Shock)

Anyway, I would love to boost my veg intake as I was diagnosed with IBS not so long ago and definitely find my veg intake affects what comes out the other end. So yesterday, I had:
banana
leek and potato soup (massive portion, must be equivalent to 2)
borlotti beans
cannellini beans
tomatoes
broccoli
orange juice

So that's 7 by anyone's standards.

As for exercise and water - oh well, room for improvement!

FreddieMercurysBolero · 07/10/2011 10:41

Hi can I join? My diet seems to mostly consist of toast lately, I really need some energy to get me through this year so I had better start eating healthy. I had rubbish morning but I'm going to walk to work later on and go make some nice cauliflower and broccoli soup to take to work.

bocoid · 07/10/2011 18:16

Aww so lovely to see veggers again, I've missed you! (even though most of you on facebook, but it's not the same without imaginary pits and stickers)
I've emailed guad and told her she has to come and say hello.
Bee i remember you used to make up the odd apple. I think I exaggerated cucumber portions.

I'm not counting today, yes, as i've mostly had chocolate brownies and apple cake but it wasn't my fault.

pinksomething · 07/10/2011 19:42

By the way the water thing is completely made up!!!! It's 10/10 Grin

CaptainNancy · 07/10/2011 20:07

Hello pink- I remember the rest of your name now! Grin (and profile pic!)

Many congratulations F&Z!

pinksomething · 07/10/2011 20:25

Who were you captainnancy? I don't remember you... was there a different guise?

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2011 20:33

Right loads of things I want to ask and say but it is pointless isn't it, trying to catch up on someone else's veg thread
Most of it was along the lines of Tatties, dammit, how are you my love?

I am feeling like I should be doing something like welcoming people and putting chairs out in the village hall and so on?

But really I am just going to swan in and out reminiscing about old jokes and saying "carrot, swede, tomato, cucumber, spinach, banana"
banana was in a cake and is a hideous fib

FourThousandHoles · 07/10/2011 21:35

Omg franny's having a baybee! This is fine news indeed :) lemur is current custodian of the vegger baby stuff and I'm sure will be delighted to clear it out pass it on

Rather alarmingly I am doing c25k and am currently shitting myself at the looming prospect of w4r1... 5 mins in one go, wt actual f??

Eating a lot of utter rubbish atm and possibly having too many portions in the form of fermented grapes

Rather timely resurrection of veggering for me I reckon

FourThousandHoles · 07/10/2011 21:37

Oh had probably best tell you I used to have furry stripy feet

CaptainNancy · 07/10/2011 22:43

Sorry pink- was not a vegger... Smile just liked your titles.

wow

jolly good idea this

Blueberties · 08/10/2011 00:12

this is so lovely

how well I remember the fruit and nut chocolate

I'm going to lurk forever while inhaling mangos

Guadalupe · 08/10/2011 08:06

Hello, veggers! How lovely to see everyone and hello to new veggers too. Smile Congrats on good news, Franny.

Fab idea to start autumn veg thread, Olivia. I am certainly in need of some double portions.

I did fairly well yesterday, in fact I think I was a bit high on aubergine last night. I ate one whole MASSIVE aubergine to myself for dinner in a rather delicious bake of spicy olive tomato sauce and crispy cheesy topping.

Are there side effects of eating so much? I feel like there must be, isn't it the deadly nightshade family like potatoes and tomatoes? I did do a silly dance after eating it but that might have been the wine and prodigy on the radio.

Aubergine
tomatoes
olives
salad
cress [ok this was a garnish]
beetroot soup
orange juice
apple
raisins
grapes

One small swim
One silly dance

I am going to try and walk a lot today.

Guadalupe · 08/10/2011 08:09

Well, I say I am going to walk a lot but am currently looking out at the rain while reading papers in bed and eating two fat crumpets with melissa honey but I have good intentions and an orange juice.

FourThousandHoles · 08/10/2011 08:10

who were you blueberties? why are you about to get banned??? My cooking child is now two. TWO. Doing walking and talking and climbing and stuff. Where does the time go???

Avi I'm doing couch to 5K (running interval training thingy) and am about to embark on week four, which entails running for a whole five minutes without stopping. More than once in the same half hour. Eek. I am still overweight and a bit knackered physically so this is somewhat scary.

BE hello honey

Today we are off to a birthday party for a 1yo. I will only eat grapes and carrot sticks and will not touch the party rings.

Guadalupe · 08/10/2011 08:17

Hello, furry feet.

Everyone is doing impressive running. I quite like running but I have a duff knee.

Guadalupe · 08/10/2011 08:18

Great name blueberties, sounds like a subversive blueberry that has gone to the dark side of gelatine.
