pesky neighbours -and on a week night too -grrr.
Hair is nice I think- I had some highlights to give it a bit of cheer and a trim- so a short bob with longer front bits,if that makes any sense.

OP posts:
janemacer · 30/09/2011 08:07

mas your hair sounds nice. Is it what they call an inverted bob? The hot weater sent lots of people outside last night. I did make it to the pub last night and has a pleasant evening not talking about bc (mostly) Ended up driving so didn't have any beer either! Feel much better today, cold just about gone. Will try and get some things done today! Time for a Brew

smee · 30/09/2011 09:43

How much for a hair cut?! Shock I can't get DS to go at all at the moment. He thinks long hair is 'cool' and as it's blond and slightly curly he does look cute. Might have to insist soon though.

MAS your hair sounds lovely. As do those biscuits. Smile

Hope pesky neighbours didn't wake DS, Pink.

Kurri, your DS is priceless. Grin

Sparkle, what was your friend speaking about? Was she on the tv?? I dozed off late last night watching it all, but I might have seen her inbetween snores..
Hope kittens are not too freaked by the journey to your house. Smile

Topsy, where are you? Hope you're okay x

Janem, glad to hear you got to the pub - somehow it's those things which get you through I think. No time for a Brew. So, so hot and I have to dash into the centre of London for a meeting. G'ah, bah humbug and all that.

Happy Friday to all. Go sit in gardens if you can. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 10:40

smee - hope you don't get too hot out and about today !
Glad you got to the pub jane - shame about no beer though.
KITTENDAY !!! very exciting.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 30/09/2011 10:58

Haircut sounds nice, MAS!

Sparkles - there were only highs, no lows at all at the Space Centre! DD thought it was the best thing EVER!!!!!!! Her bf, by contrast, said she didn't learn much, all they did was run around all day. So take your pick, really. They were in different groups, and dd is very into space whereas bf is not, so I guess that comes into it a lot. Your budding astrophysicist should love it Smile

But I doubt you'll care about that today, not with kittens to coo over Envy

cakesandale · 30/09/2011 12:30

Sigh. Sparkles has found some cuter friends to play with.....

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 13:18

we can't blame her....
my parents lovely huge cat Smog is very poorly- am worried-dad taking him to vet at 3 -he is sitting in my garden in the shade-he drank some water but is so out of sorts, his eyes are almost closed Sad I have stroked him and told him it'll be ok -poor love.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 30/09/2011 13:22

Oh no, not more poorly pets. They break your heart, don't they? I hope he is OK. Great name!

cakesandale · 30/09/2011 13:26

I have a friend who is having an MRI this afternoon. I have told her such horror stories about mine in the past (not since I heard she was having one - honest) that i have probably worried her half to death. She'll be fine of course, it's only claustrophobia that makes me dread it so much, but I am feeling a bit unhelpful. A lesson to mind what I say, i suppose

Have sent a supportive text, it was all I can think of.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 13:42

am sure she'll find the text helpful- really you can't sensor things you say all the time -and also you have a right to express your anxieties ! try not to fret Smile Dear Smog is the biggest cat ever - he is the most lovely smoky grey and is much loved.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 30/09/2011 13:47

Thanks Smile

He sounds gorgeous. I always think grey cats look very aristocratic and classy. I do hope he is just hot or has eaten an indigestible mouse or something.

KurriKurri · 30/09/2011 14:09

Sorry your parents cat is poorly MAS Sad - is he an old chap? I hope it's something easily sorted out.

Good luck to you friend Cakes, its hard not to say stuff - impossible really to censor everything you say in case someone might have the same thing in the future. I'd be claustrophobic like you, - I hate things like that.

I am guessing the kittens have arrived in the Sparkle household Smile - the children are going to be so excited when they get home from school.

I have had a lovely massage this morning, very relaxing. Bumped into an old friend later, so we had a coffee and a catch-up. Then I remembered I've got an onc. appointment the day after I get back from mum's, so I had to dash to the hospital to get a blood test done.

I'm having a Brew - anyone else want one? - I'm trying to ignore the fact that I've got to sort stuff out and pack.

cakesandale · 30/09/2011 14:33

Massage sounds lovely. I'd love a Brew while you pack.

I hope the weather stays fine while you are at your parents' - even though it isn't a holiday as such it would be nice to be able to be out and about a bit.

I think I have missed the tree update - have the vile neighbours buggered off gone away yet?

Claustrophobia. Oh yuk. Even the thought of an MRI sends my heart into my boots now. I think I would have to be sedated.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 14:40

I'll join you- hope your visit goes well KK and the little dog enjoys the journey.
Smog is about 6 -my parents adopted him and 2 girl cats at the Bath cats & dogs home when they were small- not related-the girls are very nervy but Smog is friendly. Ds will be worried as he is very fond of him.
Can't wait to see kitty photos Grin

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 30/09/2011 15:31

I'm not sure what's happening in the tree saga atm - mum hasn't mentioned it, no doubt I will get the low down when I'm there.

Dog has a vet's appointment at 9.15 tomorrow just to replenish her pills, so we'll go down straight from there. DD has decided to stay at home, so will just be DH and I.

Someone told me that new film Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy is very good - so I might take mum out to see it. Anyone seen it?

I've just taken the plaster off my blood test, and there is a sore swollen bloody bit on my arm. The phlebotomist was yakking to her pal while she did it, I knew she was going to make a mess [grrrr]

Strictly tonight MAS - can't wait Smile

cakesandale · 30/09/2011 16:11

I hear the film's very good tho' I haven't seen it myself.

Shock about your arm. How shoddy.

have a good time!

smee · 30/09/2011 17:39

MAS, I hope poor Smog's okay. Sad

Kurri, hope you have a good trip tomorrow. Blood test sounds annoying - I had one for my pre-op check earlier in the week and realised this morning I look like a junkie. Shock

Cakes, supportive texts sound about all you can do. Hope she's okay and not too freaked by it.

Back from v.productive and good meeting, but am oh so hot. Heatwaves and hot flushes are not a desirable mix. Hmm

Still, have showered, sorted tame teenager to boy-sit and we're off to the pub in a bit. Hooray for Friday nights. Wishing you all similar indulgence and treats. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 17:59

poor KK and smee with punctured arms- as you know I'd be very freaked out by such things !
Poor Smog is staying overnight at vets-for blood test and x ray. Am thinking it might well be diabetes (he is a big boy,has been weeing where he shouldn't and drinks a lot of water)
That film does sound good - have a lovely time and smee, enjoy the pub. We're nipping to mum's to have a drink and then it's Strictly-yay !!

Evening All

Hugs to poorly pets and poorly people !

I have been awol this week because I went on a bit of a downer and decided that it wasn't fair to bring anyone else down with me .
I had a bit of a battle with officialdom , and it was enough to push me over the edge and have a bit of a pity fest .

Am coming back round now though , although still feeling a little delicate .

Now having a glass of wine .
Am extremely [envy} of you all on the mainland with your sunshine .
We have had torrential rain , all day long . And apparently we are keeping it for the entire weekend .

Maybe I have Seasonal Affective Disorder Grin

amberlight · 30/09/2011 19:51

Sounds like you need another Wine. I seem to have one too.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 19:53

I've had several Wines already...lovely to see you topsy - sworry that your weather is crappy

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2011 19:53

sworry must be too many Wines

Figgyroll · 30/09/2011 21:31

Hic, MAS. Grin Sorry to hear about your parent's puddytat.

Topsy, don't stay away when you're feeling down, it's our job to cheer you up and tell you it's okay to have down days - we all have them. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better though. I hear choccy buttons are good for seasonal affective disorder.

Smee, have a lovely time at the pub. I hope the teenage boy behaves. Grin

Ouch re your arm, KK. I've met a few poor phlebotomists in my time and have the scars and buggered veins to prove it.

The spacecentre sounds fun, Cakes - glad DS and her bf enjoyed it.

I read a few pages ago about cording. Can anyone do a link for me please. I'm wondering if I might have it. Today's rads were a bit more straightforward but my armpit is aching like mad and also the bit in the middle of my chest were my cleavage used to be.

Had a lovely lunch with DH earlier and he's gone out to footie with DS2 this evening so I'm trying hard to ignore the Galaxy bars in the cupboard. I would love a Wine but am still on the antibees so will have an alcohol free Kopperburg cider. The fruits of the forest one is delish.

EarthMotherImNot · 01/10/2011 08:13

Good morning all. I've been AWOL a while too, down to worry about a scan on my thyroid on Thursday. I just felt I couldn't cope with any more bad news as well as still having 3 x weekly trips to my BCN to have drainage done, will that ever stop!

The scan was nerve wracking, not least because the young doctor who started the scan did the scanning with one hand while his other hand was over his mouth in a OMG sort of way.

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse another doctor arrived who took over the scan and who I immediately recognized as the chap who'd done my biopsies and told me I had breast cancer. A bad omen I thought.

The scan took forever (25-30 minutes) and he then told me I was fine Shock I have lots of nodules apparently but so do many people. He is sending a report to my surgeon, who requested the scan, to this effect. He said they may need to periodically check them for size but for now alls well. Phew!

KurriKurri · 01/10/2011 08:22

Just popping on quickly to say cheerio for a week!

Earth, phew about the thyroid - they do try to scare the hell out of you don't they??

topsy - love and hugs, - don't worry about bringing people down, - this thread is for you to use if you want to vent. Take care sweetheart xx

Smee - I think you will be having your op while I'm away, loads and loads of luck, I hope it all goes well - I'm sure it will. Hope you are stocked up with chocs. and DVD's for when you get home, so you can take it easy!
I'll be thinking of you Smile

Love to everyone else, good thoughts to everyone having any kind of treatment, rads or chemo. Hope Smog is fine MAS, (Russell was better than I expected, but WTF happened to Lulu????)
Sparkle - Kittens pictures by the time I return please Grin
