Chick report - doing fine, it has been adopted by its mother. I had to push it out of the nest box to follow her, but it went, she came back for it, and is answering its calls.

Figgy and Pink, I am sorry you are both suffering with seromas, big hugs. Great news Pink about the clear lymph nodes. Smile

cakesandale · 01/09/2011 10:45

Yay for the chick and its Mum. Top news.

Several weeks ago a client told me she would have to wait for confirmation from her accounts dept before going ahead with a job. I heard nothing, so haven't done it. Today she is asking for it urgently. You've got to laugh, or you'd probably cry. So now we are all tearing around trying to get it done. Sparkles, try to imagine your chicken without its head. That's me. It's going to be a pain in the bum doing it this fast, but I make good money on it (when they eventually pay) so probably will be worth it.

Love to all, I hope you have a good, healthy, energetic and happy day.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/09/2011 10:47

hooray for clear lymph nodes pink !!
and lovely to hear that chick is well and with it's mum Smile
Am sorry about the seroma suffering- I was very lucky not to have that- I also found it ok to wear a bra straight away -I reckoned the support would aid healing.
Have seen a pic of my friend with granddaughter on fb- aw-I guess she did have her boy quite young -she is married to a Chinese Vietnamese American so her boys are exotic looking -she is freckly and blonde. Am off to make them a card and then get on with some work- should be cleaning but work is pressing.

cakesandale · 01/09/2011 11:14

Ah how sweet. I bet her boys are absolutely gorgeous.

Cleaning - stop it. Don't remind me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/09/2011 11:23

s'okay- am not cleaning,am drawing (much nicer)

KurriKurri · 01/09/2011 11:24

Hooray for chick re united with its mummy, - well done Sparkle (chick whisperer Grin)

tospy I had the dripping nose too, it lasted for a while (after I'd finished chemo IIRC) but dried up eventually. You just have to keep remebering never to go out without tissues! (oh and moisturizer round your nose so it doesn't get sore)

Sorry to hear about the seromas Figgy and Pink - what a pain, I hope there won't be too much drainage involved and they settle down. Pink - great news about the lymph nodes Smile

Cakes - aaargh to woman expecting you to drop everything short notice - don't wear yourself out, and think of the money Grin

Congratulations to your friend MAS, how lovely to be a grandma Smile

I thought DH was coming back today, but got the time differences confused, and he's actually coming back tomorrow. He keeps sending me e-mails from 'Vancouver Boy' - the fool Grin His work's blog has some lovely pictures of the scenery out there - it looks beautiful, I'm so jealous.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 01/09/2011 11:45

I am jealous too. I went to Vancouver many years ago but I was a sulky teem then and probably wasted it. I remember it as absolutely gorgeous. I hope dh isn't going to reappear in the early hours and disrupt a lovely night's sleep.

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 13:39

Great news about the lymph nodes pink !

And I am so relieved the chick survived the night sparkle the chick whisperer

I have been doing battle with officialdom this morning .
Have filled in multiple forms and made multiple phone calls and actually feel quite victorious (tentatively so far)
Time will tell Grin

DS is enjoying his last day of freedom before he starts "Big School" tomorrow . So far no sign of nerves . Think Mummy will feel it more than him tomorrow Blush

Hope all those nasty Seromas get gone pretty darn sharpish for you ladies !

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/09/2011 13:41

lucky dh KK - would love to go to Canada (did a lightning visit to Toronto & Quebec when a teen)
Grrr to client cakes ...
Have had a nice time painting today- am very inky as my brush handle got covered in pink ink - it doesn't come out of clothes,I do know that.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/09/2011 13:43

Well done too topsy for form filling in - always a challenge (my dad says do it in pencil first,I never do)
Lots of good luck to ds tomorrow at school - am chivvying ds to do some piano practice and to do the homework set by singing teacher - he always says I'll do it tomorrow..grr.

pinkstarlight · 01/09/2011 16:53

yes it is good news about the nodes,i have resorted today to wearing like a cropt vest top with my softy sat inside but god knows how im going to get the bloody thing off lol.

i now have to go shopping for new clothes didnt realise how many of my clothes showed my cleavage, the kids keep laughing because it looks like i have boob coming out the side because i cant resist using my softy as a cushion for my arm pit.

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 17:23

I had the same problem pink !
I must have been such a brazen hussy pre op , as all my tops are now too low cut to wear .
A great excuse to go shopping I say Grin

Hhmmmm , DS has "developed" tummy pains this afternoon . Methinks someone is getting nervous about tomorrows First Day At Big School .....

SparkleRainbow · 01/09/2011 17:51

You know it has been proved that anxiety in small childre can actually cause them to develop real tummy pains. Most teachers are very dismissive of this, and in my opinion very arrogant about, "oh he will be fine when you go.... " I never ever said this as a teacher, I always made sure the parent was ok, and rang them 15 mins later, when they had got home to reassure them their child was ok now.....but I guess that was just me, no-one was ever so kind for my dd1, or ds come to that. Topsy, I am sure he feels nervous, so don't let yourself be pushed away tomorrow, go when you are satisfied he is ok. I am sending big big hugs to little topsy, may he have a day filled with songs, stories, painting, messy play and bikes to ride! Smile

SparkleRainbow · 01/09/2011 17:53

I have just spent £8 in local charity shop and bought 5 tops (I think) all lovely and in perfect condition. The dc were rather disheartened that there was nothing for them...... Whole shopping experience took less than 2 mins too, oo I was indulgent decisive! Grin

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 18:48

Unfortunately he is 12 and starting grammar school sparkles so messy painting and playing on bikes might be in short supply Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/09/2011 19:45

I used to get awful stomach pains at primary school which were very real and caused by anxiety - it was odd as I loved my school, but I guess I have always been nervy Smile
Hope ds is ok tomorrow - bet he will be...x

sandripples · 01/09/2011 19:51

Pink - that's fantastic about the clear lymph nodes Smile - really excellent news. I had to take pain killers for about 5 weeks after my lumpectomy - the under-arm area hurt like hell all the time, then one day the pain level suddenly dropped - huge relief. So I'm sure you'll reach that point too.

Good news about chick and charity clothes too!

Good luck for any DCs starting new classes/schools.

sandripples · 01/09/2011 19:56

Could someone remind me how to send a private message please? Or where to look for instructions? Sorry I'm hopeless about this, partly because my MN Homepage doesn;t displ;ay properly.

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 20:04

If it's to one of us , there is a button at the end of the blue bar with their name on at the top of their message that says "message poster" .
I think you can use that , but don't take my word for it as I am a bit of a Luddite about these things Grin

sandripples · 01/09/2011 20:32

Thanks Topsy! Actually I've just cracked it - by using my DH's laptop which displays MN homepage correctly. Mmm, might have to abscond with this laptop.....our pc is quite old (for a pc) and a bit cranky.

smee · 01/09/2011 20:48

Been out all day and skimming again, but HOORAY FOR PINK. Fantastic news!! Smile

Topsy, hope DS is okay tomorrow. I'd bet he'll love it once he gets there.

Might be a bit absent again for a while. Going nowhere, but DS is about until school starts again next week and any spare minutes are urgently needed for work. Will wave in and grab cake from time to time. Smile

smee · 01/09/2011 20:50

ps: trivial challenge for you, but I'd bet none of you can guess which improbable new skill Smee mastered on her holiday...? Grin

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 21:15

The art of constructing a Medieval Trebuchet ?
20th Century Vajazalling ?
World record for Pringle eating ?

Am I close ? I am aren't I ??? Grin

smee · 01/09/2011 21:40

Nowhere near, though I like your style. Wink

KurriKurri · 01/09/2011 21:44

Ooh a quiz. Grin

dry stone walling
caber tossing (oh no sorry it was France, not Scotland Grin)
morris dancing
yodelling

Good luck to DS for his first day at big school topsy, - he's bound to be a bit nervous, but he won't be the only one Smile
