He has been sitting cuddling a chick, so he is feeling much happier, although still in painSad

cakesandale · 31/08/2011 17:06

I agree Sparkles, i agree. Sigh.

Poor ds. He has it pretty tough.

SparkleRainbow · 31/08/2011 17:12

It could be something really simple like a blocked tear duct, does the eyelid look at all inflamed if you pull down the lower lid

cakesandale · 31/08/2011 17:13

No, it looks OK - except the eye looks a bit 'glassy' now, like with conjunctivitis. No cnjunctivitis type goopiness though.

SparkleRainbow · 31/08/2011 17:19

That is becuase of the extra tears being produced presumably.... I wonder what it is.

cakesandale · 31/08/2011 17:22

If my GP ever lets me in I shall report back Sad

SparkleRainbow · 31/08/2011 17:29

You could always try popping into see the pharmacist in the meantime?

sandripples · 31/08/2011 17:46

Great pix of chicks Sparkle!! (That's a really nice sentence to type and to hold in your mind actually)

Just popping in to say hello. Hope eye recovers Cakes - clients would be upset with dripping copy.

SparkleRainbow · 31/08/2011 17:51

Figgyroll · 31/08/2011 18:04

Hello all and welcome back Smee. Shame everything's covered in mud though. Did you have a lot of rain?

I hope the little chick pulls through Sparkle. Good luck trying to get it reunited with it's mum. Is DS feeling a bit better now?

Cakes, it sounds like a blocked tear duct. I hope you can get it sorted.

Topsy, I had a really drippy nose and runny eyes during my chemo. My doctor prescribed me antihistamines but they didn't work. Luckily it only lasted for about a week after each cycle and would then 'dry out'. I've been finished with chemo for ages now but, instead of nose/eyes being runny I find they've gone the opposite and have dried up, especially the nose. It's all blocked and crusty.

Earth, I can easily see how you would forget your x-ray. It's a nightmare trying to remember everything. I'm sure it wont delay things to wait another day or two before going back.

MAS, good luck trying to find another Mindfullness teacher.

My appointment was a bit of a non-event. My seroma is a bit too large and, even though I've been marked with a red cross in a couple of places, the radiologist decided the seroma was too large/might get bigger and would mean the scan would be innaccurate when the time came for the first session. So I'm having it drained on Friday (eeeeek!!!!!!) and going back to the rads department next week. Oh, and I'm back there tomorrow for a bone density scan. I should have my own parking space at this rate. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 31/08/2011 18:20

Oh figgy, what a lot of visits you are going to have....Sorry you have to go to have it drained.

I think going camping always has to involve having to put thetent up in the garden when you get home to get it clean and dry, the drying bit taking weeks as it will keep raining on it. Last time we went camping in France I remember booking into a hotel in Lourdes simply to be able to dry the tent out,. and hanging over the room balconey of this very posh hotel, no shame us!

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/08/2011 18:43

welcome back smee - we missed you ! hope you are managing to de-muddify.
Love the thought of sparkle the chick whisperer - bless ! And hope ds is more comfortable.
Pesky about seroma figgy- but best to have everything healed and in the right place ( the lady who was travelling with me for rads got an infection in the middle of her rads and had to be re- marked )
I had a reply from Mindfulness teacher- she is trying to set up half day workshops in the New year, which will be good- though a bit of a wait. Coincidentally I ran into a fellow course member in Boots today and had a lovely long chat and out of the corner of my eye saw another course member - how weird.

topsyturner · 31/08/2011 18:51

Just a quicky .
For those in need of a laugh , please go to BBC i-player and download a series called Wilfred .
I have been sky+ for a number of weeks now , and finally have sat down to watch the first episode tonight .

If the thought of a man dressed as a dog smoking a crack pipe appeals , then its for you Grin

topsyturner · 31/08/2011 18:53

Sorry about the seroma figgy . Fingers crossed that Friday goes smoothly and painlessly for you x

smee · 31/08/2011 19:06

Still haven't managed to catch up, but am wondering if there are any more Pringles left, though Topsy, I know your need is greater.

Grin at Sparkles the Chick Whisperer. Least the cat wouldn't get it if it was nestled in your bra.

Figgy, I had my Seroma drained a few times. Feels weird, but it was okay and actually a bit of a relief iyswim. How annoying though.

I have now done 4 lots of washing and only paused as the tent's on the washing line. [sigh]

KurriKurri · 31/08/2011 19:29

topsy, - I want to watch it (the thought of a man dressed as a dog smoking a crack pipe does appeal Grin), but I can't find it on iplayer Sad

OP posts:
topsyturner · 31/08/2011 21:10

Damn kk , I thought it would be on there .
I have been sky+ it off BBC3 , but only started watching them today .
It totally appeals to my warped sense of humour Grin

DH has also just discovered I ate his Dairy Milk whilst he was at work today .
Don't think "the cancer made me do it" is going to cut it this time Grin

smee · 31/08/2011 21:32

Salt & Vinegar Pringles Shock Tsk, tsk - has to be the green ones, Topsy (box not crisp!).

  • tell DH the cancer excuse is valid for a v.long time, and most definitely currency for all bad behaviour during chemo.
MaryAnnSingleton · 31/08/2011 23:03

any pringles are my idea of heaven (except paprika ones which make my lips hurt) !
Very nice news this evening from my primary school friend in Florida - her eldest son and his wife have just had their first baby so she's a grandma - yay ! I remember going to see him when he was newborn with my other friend - how time flies- how old it makes us feel ! cracking news though.

SparkleRainbow · 01/09/2011 08:14

Wow a Grandma.....she must have been very young when she had dc!

Smee I have to confess I love salt and vinegar pringles, just as much as I love the green ones........., so if you don't want that one topsy olffered yesterday...........

I took chick back to the mother hen yesterday evening, I will go down in a bit and see if she has "adopted" it.

topsyturner · 01/09/2011 08:45

Was just coming on to see if sparkles chick had made it through the night .........

SparkleRainbow · 01/09/2011 09:08

Haven't let the broody hen out yet, to give the chick a chance to find its feet if it has lived through the night....I am on my way to do that next, but had to calm myself first after ds and I found the biggest, and I mean biggest spider you have ever seen in the UK in his autumn/winter clothes drawer, which we were sorting through. I am very Blush to admit that I lost my composure and ran out of the room screaming, leaving my ds behind with the said spider Grin, he has forgiven me, and gave me a hug and laughing said, I don't think we will tell dd1 and dd2 about that mummy, you would have freaked them out....

SparkleRainbow · 01/09/2011 09:09

I kid you not it was bigger than his hand, and he is a big 8!

pinkstarlight · 01/09/2011 09:11

topsy..i also had a drippy nose and was told it was because you lose your nose hair,i also went on to have streaming eyes and was prescribed eyedrops.

figgy...i also have a seroma it doesnt hurt to be drained if anything its pure bliss to get it done, the first time they did mine i was amazed how much fluid came out.i was told i cant have radiotheraphy intill im draining less than 100 mil.

its now been 2 exactly weeks since surgery and im still doped up on pain killers not sure if its because of the surgery or the seroma and omg i cant cope with wearing a bra its pure agony even though ive been properly fitted.had my follow up appointment on tuesday and have been told the op was successful they also took 13 lymph nodes which have all came back clear which is good news.

been told i have to go to the seroma clinic twice a week to be drained, does anyone know how long seromas can go on for?

cakesandale · 01/09/2011 09:38

I have my fingers crossed for the chick - and you have my serious sympathies over that bastard horrible spider. I would have run too.

Pink - I had my seroma drained several times over about six weeks. In the end I stopped going because, although the thing kept filling, it gradually became more blood, less fluid and I decided that maybe the nurse was nicking a vein each time. So I stopped going and it filled and stayed filled, but didn't get any worse. It very gradually went down over months and months. None of this hurt though, as it is so numb under there.

If it's any consolation I couldn't wear a bra for ages either and I only had a lumpectomy. Soft vests were my friend.
