Tada! A shiney new thread - get me with my fancy asterisks Grin

That's quite a big thing to take on, MAS - well done!

SR, your ambitions for a long trip around NZ sound dreamy. Something to look forward to....

I have just spent a horrid hour or two cleaning our home office. There are so many bits of electronic kit and wires that i usually fight shy of it - result, months and months of dust on the blinds (no excuse for that, no wires there Blush ), thick greasy dust all over everything, and a large spider had taken up residence at the back of DH's desk. Blush Blush Blush

I bet you are all envisaging Gormenghast now, aren't you? Grin

Feeling hot, tired and more than a bit grubby. Thank goodness dd and I are off swimming in a bitt.

topsyturner · 12/08/2011 14:09

Aaaargh !
Can someone please tell my DC that it isn't necessary to bring 2 suitcases full of toys on our holidays ?

As you were Grin

topsyturner · 12/08/2011 14:11

And well done MAS with the spokes person role . I am sure you will do brilliantly . And as for being a 12 year old nut job , think there is a lot of that in all of us !

KurriKurri · 12/08/2011 14:13

Hands topsy Brew, a rather chewy piece of home made flap jack, and an extra suitcase Grin

aieee @ toy luggage ! ds used to be the same Grin and like junior Cakes had every soft toy possible in bed with him.
Am a little worried now about being an ambassador - am sure I won't get asked very often !

KurriKurri · 12/08/2011 14:18

MAS, being an ambassador is a good excuse to stock up on these Grin

Sorry I haven't been around...I was struck down my an awful migraine yesterday, still a bit tender today.

Earth, you got through an awful day yesterday, well done you. I am sorry you have to wait for the results.

Have a super time on your hols Topsy and Smee, oh no what am I going to do for child entertainment tips...... sob sob.

SparkleRainbow · 12/08/2011 14:39

Grin at MAS ambassadorial supplies.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2011 15:05

Grin @KK's idea !! this ambassador will certainly be offering cake and cocktails at her parties

Figgyroll · 12/08/2011 15:13

MAS, well done on being appointed ambassador for the OCD people. That's brilliant.

Earth, I had my mastectomy and node removal 7 days ago, was in hospital for 4 nights and am not even taking any painkillers now. I am wearing my bra and softie and it's quite comfortable considering the scar goes right round to my shoulder blade. Honestly, it's not as bad as you think it will be. I've had a couple of teary days but that's quite normal. I haven't plumped for a reconstruction - I just wanted the damn thing taken away and to get myself healed without anything else (further surgery) getting in the way. My softie needed another bit of padding in it and it still looks a tiny bit lopsided but I will play around with it later (another sock maybe Grin).

Nitty, I had a CT and a Bone Scan before chemo, ECGs and an Echo as well but all hospitals are different.

Sparkle, sorry about your migraine, nasty things.

Amber, glad to hear you're feeling a bit brighter today. Maybe you're through the worst of the SEs.

Topsy, it seems I am amongst similar norkaged ladies. I am feeling a bit lopsided but hope my permanent prosthesis will be a better fit than the softie. I wont go home from the clinic till I'm happy with it. Grin. Chinese for breakfast? Yes, just blame the BC. I blame it on everything. Have a sooper dooper holiday.

SR, no wonder you're feeling emotional as your friends leave to go home. It will be something to look forward to, visiting them in a camper van. My friend has just bought an old VW one and christened it Lily. I am so jealous.

KK, shame your daughter can't have her holiday but thank goodness her friend wasn't injured. I hope they can get any deposits etc.back.

My boys got back from their holiday today - tired but happy. The washing is on and all is quiet on the western front - I think they are both asleep Grin.

topsyturner · 12/08/2011 15:21

Oh DD is definitely her mothers daughter , she has just appeared with a suitcase full of shoes .............

KurriKurri · 12/08/2011 15:34

Thanks Figgy,They have not lost financially, - they were planning on driving to Wales and staying in friends family's caravan, and go hill walking (they are both keen walkers) but it's not really feasible without a car. Never mind, I think they have plans to meet up in Sheffield later in the year, so can do the Peaks.

I'm glad the boys had a lovely time, - they will probably sleep all weekend now Smile.

topsy - your DD is a girl who thinks ahead, you never know how many shoes you will need on holiday, - best to cover all possibilities Grin

I've just spent 3/4 of an hour wrestling with the giant weeds in my veggie patch. I seem to have acquired a lot of prickly seeds in my trouser legs. The dog has been helping me, by throwing a plastic flower pot round the lawn Grin

tea anyone ? Glad boys are back and had a fab time figgy Smile.

Figgyroll · 12/08/2011 17:17

Cuppa would be lovely, thanks. I've got a couple of packets of Figrolls. They are an acquired taste though (best biccies in the world, I reckon).

Glad DD didn't lose out financially, KK.

Washing machine is STILL on. DSs are very quiet - I think they are catching up on their sleep.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2011 17:33

I quite like a figroll, though not my favourite bic.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2011 18:18

Okay, so am really out of time. Am sending you all huge hugs, as I haven't even time to read through. Earth though, I have skimmed and know you're now v.sadly on the wrong side of diagnosis. Stick with us. At the very least we can show you that life goes on.

Right, nearly 11 and I've still got to pack. Woolly jumpers are top of my list, closely followed by wellies. Wishing you all v.comfy two weeks. Imagine me in our 3 foot high tent, stooped double, cooking pasta (yet again) and daydreaming of sun. Am sure it will be lovely, but if you've got a minute or two, do a sun dance for me. Smile

Missed wishing the holiday peeps a Happy Holiday, but I'm sure they will. Grin

Went out today for the first time in a week. We went to a lovely shop that sells gifts, jewellery and scarves. I bought 6 to casually throw round my neck to disguise the lopsidedness. They really are beautiful. I hope they do the trick and make me look sophisticated rather than wonky Smile. We had coffee and cake too, the tide was in and it was glorious. We didn't walk for long or too far but I'm tired out now and a bit achey so have resorted to the paracetamol.

Are you feeling a bit better today, Amber?

Off to sit in another room now - mainly to ignore the pile of ironing. I'm not allowed to iron until the third week and am determined not to do it. It won't hurt DH or DS1 to have a go. I might even have a Wine or two tonight.
