new thread here !

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 29/06/2011 14:06

I'm here.....I'm here , I am sorry I was not here for the launch of sparkly thread 11.

I have missed so much, cake, squirrels, stroppy and unreasonable authors (I know who he is and will be avoiding his books in the future), returning hair, arriving menopauses, sports days.....og my word you have all been busy.

I have been getting ds into his new school, getting PDSS support sorted, fighting hospitals (again), and dieting. Happy me I have lost 3kg, or the scales are lying again, but I am soooooo hungry, nearly fainted at lunchtime from low blood sugar, but the weight has got to go it is making my joints so much worse, so only carb in form of cereal for breakfast, no biscuits or treats of any form, no wine, loads of veggies, reduced meat.....and gallons of water. It is sooo BORING, and I am soo hungry Blush did I tell you that already?!

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 14:12

Hello Sparkle - lovely to see you. well done for losing 3kg - thats great, but don't make yourself ill. Is DS in the school now? - how is he liking it?

SparkleRainbow · 29/06/2011 14:16

He is loving it. They have been brill so far, really supportive, but pushing him too. They sent him home with a space hopper yesterday, because it is in the obstacle race they are doing next week at sports day, and ds couldn't do it, so they have given him one to practice with until then! I love this place. He had swimming at the PD Special school last week too, and that was amazing, he really struggled but they were so positive. Proud emoticon needed! Grin

cakesandale · 29/06/2011 14:24

get the nuts out of your bra now!!! And run!!!

cakesandale · 29/06/2011 14:33

Clearly that last comment of mine was aimed at topsy Blush Got side tracked and you all rushed in before i could finish.

Hello sparkles Smile I am so, so pleased the new school's so great. It does sound fab. At last he is getting the support and encouragement he needs. No wonder he is liking it so much.

3Kg? Seriously? In which case I am going off you big time. Envy Wink

shoormal · 29/06/2011 14:46

I'm sat here happily watching the tennis and feeling vaguely guilty about being off work.

It's 2 weeks today since my surgery (followed by several hours of throwing up due to the anaesthetic!). I actually feel fine but have been signed off for a month altogether (2 more weeks).

Is it usual to be signed off for this length of time?

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 14:56

That school sounds great Sparkle - so pleased he is enjoying himself and getting the support he needs Smile

Oh yes - and since you a re losing weight could you lose some of mine for me Grin (if anyone is feeling rather under weight at the moment I have several pounds spare, free to a good home)

Shoormal, sitting and watching tennis is exactly what you should be doing. Don't even think of feeling guilty, you need this recovery time, so take things easy and do whatever makes you feel relaxed. Smile

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 14:56

And I would say yes a month signed off would be perfectly reasonable.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 15:09

I'm sure that's a sensible time to be off shoormal - I'm self employed,as are others,so we make our own rules Grin
Hello sparkles- so happy to hear about school - it sounds great for ds Grin
And well done for weight loss -that's several bags of flour (would make 6 loaves of chollah) Am dismayed by your not being able to Wine though
KK - that's so nice to hear that dd likes the card so much - really cheers me Smile and thanks for reassuring words about bcn - she is always lovely and I've had a lot of contact with her -in fact am doing her grand child's 1st bday card.
Hope meeting went well amber
I will check PLR site to make sure he has changed it !

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 15:39

Faints clean away at the thought of a diet that meant no wine Grin

sparkle - glad the school is so good , long may it continue !

shoormal - I was told that I would need to stop work for at least 4 weeks following my surgery . I too felt fine after a couple of weeks (we won't talk about the trip to Tesco the day I got out of hospital , lesson learned !)
But you have to remember , you have had major surgery . And there is the emotional side of it too , you are probably still trying to come to terms with your diagnosis .
I still wake up thinking it was all a mistake !

cakes Grin - removes nuts and replaces with bags of (wholewheat) flour .

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 15:41

MAS - has he changed it yet ? Or do we need to gather menacingly outside his house ???

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 15:44

Found some cider in my fridge today (don't worry , haven't drunk it yet Grin )
DH must have snuck it in there . I haven't had cider in years . Might have a nice cold glass of that later .
What time does the sun go over the yard arm ?

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 15:46

6pm in my book...

am going to check later - if not I'm sending the girls round

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 15:46

Soon I hope Topsy (about 5ish ,) Dh was given a bottle of bucksfizz by someone at work, and its cooling nicely in the fridge - not really my thing but beggars can't be choosers. Cheers WineGrin

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 15:46

I love cider !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 15:47
  • just waiting for the shout MAS Grin
smee · 29/06/2011 16:42

Yeay, Sparkles is back. Great to hear DS is happier. Make way on the patio, I'm heading over as am back from sports day. DS got third in the sack race and something for hurling bean bags around, so he's happy and rain stopped Parents' Race, which was of course v. sad... Grin

Cakes, I was assisted in counting the Summer Fete money by DH and a bottle of Cava. Can highly recommend the Cava, but maybe not DH as he drinks too much of it. A bottle of disinfectant for the kitchen table afterwards is a must. Wink

Am currently in the midst of Caretaker rage, as we borrowed a bouncy castle from another school and whoever said they would has failed to take it back. Apparently it's blocking one of his cupboards. [crime of the century/ hold the front pages]

shoormal, I'm another self employed person, but I reckon 4 weeks is nothing after a big op. I'd bet if you started to run around and work you'd soon realise you needed longer.

We have two cans of cider lurking under a cupboard. Might have to put it to chill now (am so suggestive!).

  • sending the girls round, MAS?! Count me in. Forget waving placards, he deserves battering with them. Grin
topsyturner · 29/06/2011 18:19

Jeeze !
You people would be an advertisers dream Grin
Just one tiny mention of cider and you are all racing for the White Diamond !

I haven't opened my (very classy looking in a posh bottle) cider yet .
As just realise DS has a fun night at 7pm , and as its a church one I thought it wouldn't be one of my finest moments if I rocked up pissed slightly happy on cider Wink

Have decided DH can pick him up at 9pm though , motherly duty only goes so far .
Well , the Apprentice is on at 9pm !!!

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 18:22

So , are we all going to get cidered up and go round and menace MAS author ???

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 18:29

it's ok- got back from piano lesson with ds and checked into the PLR site and registered - I did try typing in 50 % but it wouldn't let me Grin
But thanks for the offers of back up - much appreciated !
I am terribly suggestible- once something's mentioned (cheese scones,cider-anything really -I have to go and get some.
Yay for the Apprentice Grin !! During the concert last night I suddenly thought I was missing it- horrifying ! but dh reassured me it was only Tuesday...

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 18:29

ooh yes Apprentice (and my guilty pleasure, Waterloo Road Blush)

And if there's going to be a scrum at Mr Arrogant's house, I'm in Grin

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 18:31

Oh cross posted MAS, great you were able to register but slightly disappointed there was no ruck Grin

amberlight · 29/06/2011 18:43

shall I tell ds's national rugby team not to bother turning up for said scrum and ruck then? Not even a maul??!

Pass me that virtual cider! Just the thing after the Meeting From Hell and before I go out for yet another meeting. Tired...

smee · 29/06/2011 18:53

Amber, the cider's not virtual. Hic!

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 19:18

And why are men so dense ?????
DH will be lucky to survive this night .
I am hiding out in Tesco toilet , because he has reduced me to tears .

Long story , he is dense and doesn't get it .
I will be ok once I get home and open the cider !

As you were .
