new thread here !

Topsy, can you safety pin it to your bra/ (that's what I resorted too), they do try to make a bid for freedom given half a chance Grin

topsyturner · 28/06/2011 20:57

Yes , the BCN did say about safety pinning the slippery little bugger .
But I am also having the problem of my bra travelling up on that side too as there is nothing to weigh it down !

Am I going to have to resort to duct tape ?

KurriKurri · 28/06/2011 21:03

Well in the interests of science and non-wandering softees, I have just weighed my silicone prosthesis, and it is 400gms/14oz. So quite heavy, - could you fill a little bag with rice or lentils or similar and slip it inside the cover? (Assuming you want a bra full of foodstuffs that is Grin)

topsyturner · 28/06/2011 22:02

Could be attacked by marauding squirrels kk !
After my nutty bra contraband Grin

And 14oz ?
What was your cup size ?
As I am an Amazonian breasted woman , and have bras that could probably house a couple of bags of flour Wink

KurriKurri · 28/06/2011 22:09

36c - and its a kind of teardrop shaped one (they also do a more evenly round one - whichever suits your shape best), it will be much better when you get your proper one, - you need the weight to know its there IYSWIM. I've got a sort of round bean bag one I use for swimming as well, which I bought, its called a bean a boob, and was about £30 IIRC thats got a bit more weight, I think its stuffed with those little plastic bean things people use for crafts and toy animals.

You'll probably need to invest in a big stick to keep the squirrels at bay Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/06/2011 22:33

Bean bags,squirrels-whatever next ?
Am back- concert went on a bit...but it was really very cool in there. The prawns seemed fine-we ate it anyway and am still ok !

OP posts:
topsyturner · 29/06/2011 07:47

kk - just spat on my phone laughing at the big anti squirrel stick ! [Grin]
How long post surgery do you get your proper falsie ?

MAS - just another evening in topsyworld !
Glad the concert went well and wasn't too hot .
Also glad you survived the prawns . In your (and your ds) honour I bought a ready made paella from Tesco for dinner yesterday .
Hopefully your prawns were nicer , as mine were a little bit rubbery !

Any news from pink ?
Hope everything went ok on Monday .

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 07:51

Darn it !
My Grin keeps failing !
Blardy capital letters .......

Pig/dog update - in kitchen sulking cos I wouldn't let him climb on my bed and go to sleep !
He is moulting so badly at the moment , the last time I let him on my bed it looked like someone had sheared a herd of sheep on it !!!

amberlight · 29/06/2011 08:20

That's made my morning, all this talk of beans, flour, APBs and squirrels!! Grin

Brew available. May need lots today. Having to miss out on a bc get-together to go to a big and somewhat scary autism chiefs meeting. Eeek. Wonder if they'll cope with me with my new hairdo and watery eyes... Confused

smee · 29/06/2011 09:32

Grin at Topsy with a gang of squirrels pursuing her round Tescos.

Glad concert was cool and prawns not contaminated, MAS.

Am worried about Pink too. Hope she hasn't been hit again by SE's. Was hoping she'd be okay this time round. Sad

cakesandale · 29/06/2011 09:48

Grin at topsy and the Houdini softee!

Amber - i hope your guys 'man up' at the autism meeting, and cope adequately. I went to a few meetings while on chemo and people were pretty good generally.

I am glad the concert was good MAS - and cooler. I am sure the flushes stepped up a gear during the hot weather on Sunday and Monday.

As for tweeting - I will definitely fill in anyone who is interested when i get to it. But this morning I rebelled against the notion of being made to do it and just emailed the event organisers and demanded to know the address. They emailed it back straight away, but I imagine they were tutting at my general Neanderthal-ness Hmm

cakesandale · 29/06/2011 09:49

And meant to say - thinking of Pink, too

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 10:09

yes,good luck amber Smile
Have just spoken to bcn -just my occassional pep talk -it helps me to report back on anxty- ness - she is practical and soothing. I wouldn't want any more therapy but knowing I can talk to /email her is nice.
Sainsbury's for me today..ironing too and then some drawing.
Waving to pink and everyone !

smee · 29/06/2011 10:09

Amber, hope meet goes well. I'd bet they won't even notice your hair or eyes. Always astounded me how little people take notice, though maybe that's a good thing. Smile

Cakes, I like your tweet rebellion.

Right, off to Sports Day. Hopefully I can slink off before the parents' race..

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 10:10

oh sports day- always a trial ! we don't have to go to them now ds is at secondary school Grin

OP posts:
topsyturner · 29/06/2011 10:16

smee - you could always pull the old "I have cancer" line and refuse to take part in the parents race ............... Grin

cakesandale · 29/06/2011 10:18

Good luck at sports day, smee, hope it stays dry. Skulk near the back for the parents race: I find dd doesn't even ask me any more Grin

By the way, I was very impressed by the speed and lack of fuss you made over counting the summer fair takings: I am going to be doing that myself in a couple of weeks and I always make it into quite a production, somehow.

MAS - hi hip hooray for your BCN. A talk can work wonders.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 10:47

I sometimes fret that she'll get sick of me- it's mostly about my ocd stuff and meditation and whatnot - hardly ever about bc,though mentioned my aches and what doc had said etc..I suppose my anxieties did surface badly again after dx and are very tied up in stuff about my brother and his death,so it's probably all linked. I hate 'needing' to ask for help though - I get all bound up in how much I deserve to have in the way of help-taking too much- being a pain in the arse- I'd be mortified if she felt 'oh no -not that pesky MAS again with her witterings'

Talking of pain in the arse- tried to register my PLR claim but his claim still stands-it takes a while to change he said when he graciously said he'd alter it-but the deadline is tomorrow !

OP posts:
cakesandale · 29/06/2011 11:18

Get your agent and/or the publisher to email him then, MAS. He is probably hoping to let it all go quiet. In the meantime, are you sure you can't register the fact that there is a dispute?

Don't let him get away with it. I know it's dispiriting, but make sure you get what's yours (or at very least, the meagre portion he is offering)

It's your bcn's job to talk you through stuff. I bet she has many, many people on her list who are way more hassle than you. I bet you are no hassle at all - and even if you are, why shouldn't you be? BC is no walk in the park. x

amberlight · 29/06/2011 11:24

My bcn has had all sorts of queries from me. I'm sure they don't mind, MAS.
Also, still can't believe how little you're paid for your work. When I'm hiring illustrators for mine, the going rate I pay is a heck of a lot more than that. Hmm Fair rights for illustrators!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/06/2011 11:42

feel free to wave banners amber Grin ! and thanks too cakes - He says he's changed his registration -will try again later. I am paid little I know -and I am hopeless at charging for my work too.

KK many thanks for cheque btw - promptly paid and it was a pleasure to do a card for dd.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 29/06/2011 12:45

I am glad he has changed it. But he's still a git.

I am also hopeless at charging but i am aiming for what dh says is called the woodscrew principle. Pitch your pricing at a level where some will balk at it as being too high. Apparently this is good practice, and then you can negotiate. It's bloody hard to do. Plus negotiating with me is no challenge. I always roll over.

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 13:24

hello all, I've been to yoga this morning, now sitting down with a Brew and a bowl of rice krispies healthy lunch Grin

MAS I'm glad the cheque arrived - DD keeps saying 'I can't stop looking at that card , its brilliant' she is so chuffed with it Smile

Don't worry aboput asking your BCN for help, thats what she's there for, and I'm sure she's happy to do it. They'd much rather people came forward when they need help, than suffered in silence. And it shows courage to ask when you do need a helping hand, nothing to be ashamed of at all.

I'm glad DS's concert went well, and you all survived the prawns Smile - When is his trip to USA is it this year or next?

Good luck with Sports day Smee, keep well away from the dreaded parents race (ours were always full of uber-competitive types who would elbow you out of the way so they could win Grin)

Amber I hope the meeting goes well, I'm sure everyone will be fine, watery eyes are a pain though, I hope that eases off for you soon.

Topsy, we used to have a terrible moulter of dog, she had a sort of thick fluffy undercoat which all came out in summer - you could have stuffed a duvet with it (if you were mad Grin) the one we have now has a different type of coat and she doesn't moult.

Did you decide to stuff your bra with the contents of your kitchen cupboard in the end - or was the squirrel risk too great? Grin

Good for you for refusing to bow to tweeting pressure Cakes, you are right about pricing policy, - it seems to be a natural inclination to undersell yourself, - I've done a lot of craft fairs (selling things I've sewn) and I was always underpricing, but in the end I found things sold better when I charged more Confused

Also sending good vibes Pink's way, I hope everything has gone OK this time.

topsyturner · 29/06/2011 14:00

There's a squirrel on the bird feeder in my back garden .
Should I be worried ?
Grin

KurriKurri · 29/06/2011 14:05

yes - stay inside! Grin
