Horrid dizzy day for me.

Hope everyone else is ok

RichTeaAreCrap · 18/07/2011 21:55

Sorry to hear that essexgirl. Hope it calms down and you manage a good sleep tonight and wake up feeling a bit better.

I have been dizzy today too, was meant to drive but couldn't do it.

Grockle · 19/07/2011 00:02

I've had an iffy day today... Headache all morning then dizziness & feeling spacey and nauseous. That passed (took anti emetic) but headache returned. I've never linked headaches & dizziness before this thread. I've decided to keep a record of days/ times/ incidents to see if there is a pattern.

Sorry you couldn't drive RTAC. Hope you & Essex have a better day tomorrow.

RichTeaAreCrap · 19/07/2011 07:38

Sorry you had a bad day Grockle.

Yes you should definately keep a diary - my dizziness is always bad if I have a headache, and they think I have MAV. I am always dizzy but find it much worse with a headache.

I hope you have a better day today.

RichTeaAreCrap · 20/07/2011 08:58

Well I didn't manage my drive, have been feeling too rough.

I couldn't get to sleep last night with the awful drunk room spin feeling.

I am going to attempt to drive today though, feeling a bit better at the moment.

IntotheNittyGritty · 20/07/2011 09:31

Am going to ask a silly question what is the difference between vertigo and dizziness?

Am really dizzy at moment and horrendous headache that wont go away. It is so bad its making me sick.

hollygolightlyandcat · 20/07/2011 11:22

Sorry everyone is feeling rotten recently. I've been up and down, had a few very bad episodes last week - only to come down with a really mild cold. Everything like that just goes straight in my ear. Unfortunately one of the attacks happened during a family occassion, which was really upsetting for me.

Still I recovered and wasn't too bad the rest of the week.
RTAC - that must be horrible to feel like that when you lie down. I find lying down helps me, so dont have the same trouble sleeping - its standing and sitting up which I find hard.Although I do get that falling out of bed feeling sometimes, but it goes if I change the side I'm lying on.
IntotheNittyGritty - vertigo is where everything in the room is moving and spinning around, its particularly nasty.

RichTeaAreCrap · 20/07/2011 18:26

Sorry to hear oyou have had a few bad episodes holly, its rotten especially when they strike you if you are out trying to enjoy yourself. Glad your cold has gone and hope you are a bit better.

Well I did my drive.....hooray! Feel awful again now though. midly dizzy but hate all this pressure in my neck and base of skull - does anyone else get that? I feel like my neck isnt strong enough to support my head sometimes.

NittyGritty, sorry to read you have been suffering too, the sickness is awful when you are dizzy. Do you know what has caused it?

Grockle · 20/07/2011 22:47

Am glad you are feeling up to driving RTAC.

Vertigo is like having drunk far far too much, when everything around you spins and you feel SO sick. It's horrible.

I've been ok but feel very nauseous tonight. Not sure if it is a sickness thing, tiredness or what. Am hoping it passes with some sleep.

rockinhippy · 20/07/2011 23:08

Yes same here, though not sure whether to blame it on the Fibro, ME, Chronic Sinus disease or chronic Migraine disorderHmm as they all come with the "dizzies" & my spacial awareness & balance are all over the place

mine is always present but does come & go IYSWIM - I find the weather can play havoc with it, this sort of stormy weather we are having right now is bit of a killer on a few levels Hmm

I don't have the head/eyes to read the whole thread, but just incase its not been mentioned - have you tried sea bands ?? - sort of sweat wriststbands, with magnets on pressure point - usually for travel sickness, but after having recommended by a friend who was given them by the hospital as she was on chemo, for her none sea sick dizzies I thought I'd give them a try & was surprised to find they do help, sometimes a lot :)

you'll find them in Boots & the likes :)

rockinhippy · 20/07/2011 23:10

Should have said - mine also gets bad when headaches are playing up

feedthegoat · 21/07/2011 11:30

Oh dear it seems like we have all been having an awful time of it!

I have had a rotten time for about 10 days now. I was on my pill free week so lots of pain, dizziness and headaches. Restarted on sunday. I only work monday and tuesday and had to go home early both days as had awful migraines. This is quite normal for me post period. Had an horrific night tuesday as migraine went on all night along with needing a wee every 30 minutes. I think that is something to do with the endometriosis as happens for about 5 days after every period. Must remember to ask at next gynae appointment.

Headaches seem to be back to normal (I won't say gone!) But I have now taken so many painkillers in last week that my stomach is horribly upset and I am struggling with nausea. Don't think I have eaten a full meal in 3 days. I am living on cereals!

essexgirl31 · 22/07/2011 18:40

Hi all,

Busy few days for me. Dizziness hasn't been too bad until this evening. I am shattered from a really busy 2 days at work and early wake up calls from DS2. I also had to get up for him about 2000 times last night. My dizziness really hits a peak when I am tired. Then that makes me feel like a bad mum as I can't cope with the hard tiring bits of parenting.

RichTeaAreCrap · 24/07/2011 12:16

Oh no, sorry to hear you have had a rough time essexgirl, rockinhippy and feedthegoat.

I hope you are all having better days today.

I started on my medication on Friday and have felt good for the last couple of days. It may be just a good spell, but I am really hoping that the meds are kicking in and helping me.

Grockle · 25/07/2011 16:48

I always feel like a bad parent too - especially because I end up snapping. I feel like I always tell DS 'mummy's poorly' - he must be fed up with it. I don't like getting all snappy with him.

Am much better now than I have been but I think it being the end of term helps. I'm a teacher and am working all week but can do it all at my own pace which helps. I think the frantic rush day in, day out doesn't help.

Hope everyone feels better Smile

essexgirl31 · 25/07/2011 18:37

RTAC - hope the medication is still working for you.

Grockle - I think stress and tiredness makes mine worse too.

Had a good Sat but Sunday was hard. We went to a christening - the standing up and down amoungst all those people made me feel horrid. I felt a lot better once I was safely at home

RichTeaAreCrap · 25/07/2011 19:30

Grockle, glad that things are calming down for you and you are feeling a bit better. You are right, tiredness and stress makes it much worse.

Essexgirl, I hate having to do social things and worry so much about being dizzy. I hate crowds too. I went out on Saturday night to some display that was on in town, it was heaving with people and I hated it - I just count down the time that I can come home and only feel safe at home.

I had a rough day yesterday but ok again today, I am still pinning my hopes on the medication starting to work, lets hope so.

feedthegoat · 25/07/2011 20:18

I'm glad some of you are having the odd good day.

Unfortunately I have had so many bad days lately I have lost the battle with anxiety this weekend. I feel really upset about as thought I had that under control.

I had to leave work early both days I was there last week which made me really anxious all weekend to the point where I felt like I was teetering on edge of a full blown panic attack.

I have had a good heart to heart with my lovely boss today who was so understanding. As I work part time she says thay will accommodate me changing hours at short notice if I am struggling. She is going to refer me to occ health too for support and maybe counselling. I think this is a good thing to be honest as I am scared of anxiety taking over. I have an active 5 year old who is already getting paranoid about mummys headaches and I really don't want this to affect him too. Anything that might help me feel more in control has to be good!

I have bought Kalms today and the seasickness bands today so I'm crossing my fingers as we are driving to coast tommorrow after I finish work to meet ds and my mum who are already there. Hopefully it will be a nice break and not an ordeal!

Grockle · 25/07/2011 22:09

Interesting that so many of us dislike crowds. If we go out on a weekend (shops, zoo, festivals, open days etc), I'll make sure we get there as early as we are allowed so that we can do it and leave before it gets horribly busy. Poor DS gets whisked to places and marched around at top speed so we can go home again. But I do try!

RichTeaAreCrap · 25/07/2011 23:26

feedthegoat Sad I am sorry you are feeling bad and your anxiety is coming back. I think that we panic when we are dizzy and that makes it all worse, I know I do. I have tried to control mine and most of the time its ok but then it just hits like a bolt out of the blue.

Great news that your boss was so good about it, that is helpful and good to hear you are getting some support. I hope thinks improve for you and you manage to have a nice time away. It will do you good to relax.

It is interesting how many people hate crowds Grockle. I can't bear supermarkets either and can't really avoid them for the rest of my life. I just make sure I go round so quickly and get out. All the time I am out I can feel myself getting panicked.

essexgirl31 · 27/07/2011 19:49

Hi,

How are you all?

Feedthegoat - I hope your drive went ok and you are enjoying your break.

RTAC - are the meds still working?

Grockle, I do exactly the same. Not only do I not like the crowds but the lighting makes me want to sit down. Mothercare and Morrisons have the worst lighting!!

I have a cold so feel dreadful. It has set my dizziness off. At least I know it will ease once I'm over this

IntotheNittyGritty · 27/07/2011 21:42

I had a few weeks of severe dizziness adn doctor has diagnosed pills for vertigo. But dizziness stopped now.

So question is, is vertigo continuous, or can it come and go?

Grockle · 27/07/2011 22:27

I do my big food shop online so that I avoid the crowds!

My vertigo comes and goes. It will sometimes be present on & off for weeks on end, then I'll have a few weeks with just a few dizzy spells which is what is happening atm. I am decorating so constantly bending down & reaching up and that seems to make me quite dizzy.

How is everyone?

feedthegoat · 28/07/2011 22:11

I think the kalms tablets have helped me as feel like I have the anxiety under control again despite some serious dizzy spells. I have even been sleeping despite spinning head at bedtime which is great.

I think the fact that the caravan we are in is at a slight angle, and moves slightly when walk is exagerating the feeling of being about to tip over! It has been hot as well, so baking in glaring sun probably wasn't sensible yesterday! But we are having a good time and I feel much more in control which is great.

essexgirl31 · 31/07/2011 18:21

Hi all,

Hope you have had good weekends. My cold is going so I feel slightly more human.

Feedthegoat - pleased things are looking up for you

Grockle - my DH is trained to do our shop Wink
