You've been busy on here. Am glad the MRI wasn't too bad, aristocat.

I amm seeing my ENT on Friday and am terrified. He was so awful the first time. I don't know what to say or ask. The pressure in my ears is fo uncomfortable and the tinnitus so loud I've turned into a horrible creature. I'm having shocking mood swings and really angry outbursts (shouts). Poor DS Sad

essexgirl31 · 25/12/2011 06:39

Wishing you all a non dizzy christmas day

Hope your appointment went well Grockle.

sweetness86 · 25/12/2011 20:46

aristocat Im glad you went through the MRI its scary isnt it ? I got dizzy when I got up too its been over two yrs since I had one now.

I celebrated Xmas day tee -total Ive been tee-total two yrs now its so depressing people pressure me to drink but I learnt my lesson from the last time but I cant tell them about why I wont drink people honestly do not understand!

Today was a HUGE improvement on last year for me (I had to go to bed on Xmas day last year)
Ive been preety much good all day. I remember when I first got this and someone told me who had had it a few years that TIME was the biggest healer in their case and a lot of others. At the time I cried I thought no matter what I cant be dizzy like this forever but you do get through it there is no quick fix I used to think there was but not now.

Try not to lose heart guys easier said than done I know x

Merry Christmas. Hope everyone is ok & not dizzy.

My ENT apt was not all that helpful. The registrar said that it's not classic menieres since I don't have the warning signs before I get dizzy - I have all the symptoms but in the wrong order apparently.

She put me in diuretics and said to go back in 3 months. Oh, and to 'power through the dizziness and push to make it worse' so that my body compensates. Or something.

Idratherbemuckingout · 28/12/2011 18:06

I take something called Tanganil that really hits an attack on the head if you take it the moment you feel one coming on. I have Menieres by the way, diagnosed about six years ago. When I get an attack I just have to lie down in a dark room with my sick bowl and fix my eyes on one spot and keep them there. When I need the loo (get a bit of diarrhoea with it) I have to crawl, shunting the sick bowl in front of me to the toilet and sit on it, clutching the bowl to my chest.
Not nice. And when I am sick (every time I get an attack) I am really violently sick, time after time. I hate it. Sometimes I get a really bad attack every week. But lately I seem to have been able to take the pills in time (touch wood) and have not been quite so bad.
After an attack, I get carsick for ages whenever I'm in a car. Can't ride my horse properly any more as my balance isn't good. That's really upset me. Likewise I fall off my bike!

aristocat · 31/12/2011 19:58

best wishes to everyone for 2012 Smile

essexgirl31 · 03/01/2012 13:44

Happy New Year to you all. Hope 2012 is the year we all stop feeling dizzy.

How is everyone? I am not feeling too bad at the moment.

Grockle · 06/01/2012 19:54

Happy new year all.

For the first time ever, I had vertigo in bed last night. Meant 3 hours sleep and going to work this morning with a 'hangover' - does anyone else get that? Feeling all shakey, achey, nasueous and generally a bit yucky for a while after an episode of vertigo?

sweetness86 · 07/01/2012 19:03

Hi Grockle

I definitely do. Today i was fine got home from work tonight felt very dodgy I feel so giddy and legs all weak and shakey and light. Its a terrible feeling :(

Do you find stress affects you too? Im very stressed at the moment moving house next week just feel awful tonight Im a bit scared havent felt this bad in ages.

OP posts:
Grockle · 07/01/2012 21:57

Stress and tiredness make it worse for me, which is awkward since i have bad bouts of insomnia and life is stressful at home & work. Plus, I worry about when I might next feel spacey/ dizzy/ have bad vertigo and if it might happen at work or when I'm driving or what if I can't take DS to X, Y, Z... I think the anxiety doesn't help. I feel very highly strung atm, with a tight chest and I'm incredibly irritable. And also the fact that they haven't actually found anything wrong with me, makes me feel like it's all in my head and I'm just being a needy hypochondriac who can't deal with life...

Oooh, that was longer than I intended. Bad day!

Hope you feel better with a bit of rest Sweetness.

sweetness86 · 09/01/2012 20:20

hi grockle

Sorry if all over the place cant see straight .

OP posts:
Grockle · 12/01/2012 17:08

Ugh Sweetness, how are you? It's scary when it happens and you are driving.

I've had a bad week - lots of really loud tinnitus, bad dizziness and terrible nausea. I'm so tired and fed up Sad

essexgirl31 · 13/01/2012 06:54

Hi all,

Sorry to hear you are both having a rough time at the moment Grockle and Sweetness. I can identify with your feelings so much. Stress really sets me off - my balance gets awful. The anxiety really doesn't help does it? My fear is something happening when I am alone with my DSs. I really wonder if it is all in my head sometimes. I feel like I am mad!

My physio seems to be helping. I have episodes of feeling awful rather than all the time which is a positive thing I know but it is still awful when it happens. Woe!

sweetness86 · 14/01/2012 20:59

Hi guys

Im feeling a bit better today yesterday was pretty bad but I went into work still.
I did wake up with full room spining vertigo yesterday which was bloody awful havent has proper vertigo that extreme in ages and it never fails to frighten you does it.

Im thinking of going down the specialist route again but unsure its a long road with not many answers but this bad spell has made me want to go through it again.

Essex so glad physio is helping I hope it cures you I really do.

grockle how are you?

Would love to hear off richtea aswell as did Pm for a bit I hope she is better.

If you dont mind me asking how old are you? Im 25 and have been told its rare to get it in someone my age.

RichTeaAreCrap · 14/01/2012 21:26

Hi ladies

Great to pop in again. Glad to see some of you are feeling a bit better and getting some relief.

I am still on the beta blockers - I think they are doing some good because my attacks are less frequent, although still get it. I am also now seeing a chiro because they think that my neck may also have something to do with it. My GP referred me for physio but the waiting list is months and months so I am seeing a chiro while I am waiting.

I am still frustrated that I have no answers and although I am a lot better than I was at first there is still something causing it and I would love to know what it is. Nobody seems to know though.

Sweetness - so sorry you have had a bad attack again, I understand how you want to have it all looked into again until you get a definate answer and more important a cure.

I am 39 - mine started at 38.

Grockle · 17/01/2012 19:34

Nice to see you all on here.

I was 32 when this started - it's been almost 2 years. And still no further.

I've had a bad couple of weeks, horrendous tinnitus and bad pressure in my head coupled with constant nausea and spaceyness/ dizziness/ mild vertigo. I just don't know what to do any more. I really think I am becoming depressed and I don't need that on top of everything else. I'm struggling at work, am snappy at home and just want to crawl away and hide til the noise and pressure in my head stops.

Sorry for the self-indulgent moan. Sad

essexgirl31 · 18/01/2012 18:50

Thanks Sweetness.

I was 34 when this started. 2 years and 5 months later I am still not right. Getting there though.

Grockle - I completely know how you are feeling. Bl**dy awful isn't it?

aristocat · 18/01/2012 21:04

I telephoned the hospital this week as it has been 3 weeks since my MRI and I was told the results would be through in 3 weeks

Well, I was told that the results will be another 2 weeks FFS Angry ..... however I currently have the idea that if there was a major issue on the scan I would have heard by now. Finding it hard to wait but dizziness not too bad at the moment.

Hope everyone is OK Smile

Grockle · 19/01/2012 14:46

Aristocat, mine took about 5 weeks. I am sure if they find something, they let you know sooner so I expect no news is good news... but it's hard to wait and it would be reassuring to be told that it's ok. Hope news comes quickly.

sweetness86 · 20/01/2012 21:43

Grockle - So sorry you feel bad if it makes you feel any better Im right there with you this week its a cruel illness.
Out of interest have you looked at the MAV route? it sounds like it could be.

Aristocat my results only took two weeks but if something had shown you would of known by now so I think you can relax but they dont like to rush themselves do they.

Essegirl you sound like your making progress which is great.

I need to change my meds now I think I get numbness on my face and head which neuro said is migraine ? does anyone else gets this?

I move house tomorrow its so stressful second time in 6 months and I NEVER want to do it again its flooring me. Sorry for moaning hard week .

javo · 21/01/2012 10:07

Hi, all have not been around much - lost the thread, and have been having lots of eye flickering and visual stuff so been avoiding screens.

Sorry to hear you are all having a bad time - it's a horrid illness and everyone just seems to think you are being weird, I rarely if ever mention it anymore. Sweetness I hope your house move goes well and without stress.

My dizziness/spacey/tinnituus/pressure started when I was 32 a few months after a Labyrinthitis infection (although I had bad migraines in my early 20's after getting meningitis). It was truly awful for about 2 years but my body compensated somewhat and I got more used to it - I also gave up work to be a SAHM mum which helped a lot as I could stay home and not go to playdates, playgroups etc if I wanted. I saw private consultants and NHS everyone said I had Menieres so was only treated with serc (which did nothing). My Drs also said it was rare in "someone my age"

Things for me were bearbale with the odd bad spell each year for many years but got worse again a few years ago and consultant said it was MAV and was very dismmisive and discharged me. The migraine diet has helped a bit, it also seems to be hormonal these days- so I avoid outings etc round my period. I hate it - its been 16 years now and atm its starting to get me down - I woke up last night and the room was spinning which hasn't happened in a long time . I feel like screaming sometimes and tearing my ears and brain out.

Sending love and good vibes to all

essexgirl31 · 24/01/2012 12:10

Hi all,

Having a rubbish day. Very off balance and dizzy. Boo hoo. Have a headache too. Moan moan moan.

Hope you feeling better Javo.

Hope the move went well Sweetness

Grockle · 24/01/2012 21:17

I dont know about MAV - I dont often get headaches and when I do they aren't bad, they just stick around for days.

Sorry you've been bad Essex & Javo.

mumofjust1 · 24/01/2012 22:09

Hi,

Hope you don't mind me joining in here Smile

I have vertigo (bpv according to GP) and was quite bad last Friday. The spinning has eased from all the time (practically) to quick bouts here and there throughout the day.

I still feel really nauseated on and off though - does that sound normal to you?

mumofjust1 · 24/01/2012 22:11

Oops! Fta that I'm getting intermittent ringing/humming in ears too. Anyone else?
