today has been hetic with visitors etc i am so looking foward to a quiet day tomorrow the kids will be back at school and im just planning to chill.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2011 21:37

am so glad you had a lovely wedding and the dress was right (and handily right for next celebrations !)
Hope you can relax and chill tomorrow pink
Didn't do much today- was odd, suddenly not having an outing. We asked ds if he'd like to go to Wagamama yesterday as a pre-birthday treat, but he said he didn't feel like it.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2011 09:40

yay - topsy should be home by lunch time ! Grin

OP posts:
amberlight · 06/06/2011 09:52

Oh excellent news re Topsy!!

KurriKurri · 06/06/2011 10:19

Great news about Topsy, - she will be glad to get home I expect. Thank goodness it is done and out of the way now after that cancellation.

Pink - have a good rest today, and chill out - sorry you are feeling a bit rubbish atm, I hope you have a better day today.

It is cold and dull here, which is probably just as well as I have lots of work to do on the puppets, and I don't need the temptation of sunshine to make me want to get into the garden.

My dog has a nasty little sore on her tummy - I think she's been bitten by something. I have put tea tree cream on it -much to her disgust, so hopefully that will work. Bruce gave her a dentistix when he got up, o she is trying out various place round the room to bury it. So far we have had the ironing basket, under a cushion on the sofa, and in my shopping bag Grin

Love to everyone.

smee · 06/06/2011 10:29

Am waving through the rain. Very soggy here. Brilliant about Topsy though. Smile

Have just skimmed through, but woo hoo for perfect dresses, saffron shed, M&S bra sales, dead Triffids, and for Theo's website. How brilliant, MAS - he's so inventive, am v.impressed. Smile

Sad for bone aches and mouth problems, Pink. Hope that gel's helping the aches a bit. I remember how miserable it is, so hugs to you.

Also Sad for Sparkle's little cat. Maybe you'll get some good news today on the school. Sounds like you need a boost.

Hope everyone else is doing okay. Lots of those on treatment have gone very quiet. Hunkering down is a good tactic, but if you're lurking let us distract you.

Back from Half Term madness, so have to catch up on work now. So much to do, I'm not sure where to start. Confused

SparkleRainbow · 06/06/2011 14:25

Kurri Grin bone burying!

Topsy, this is such fab news, am so pleased you may even be home by now!

Waves to soggy smee Smile and to anyone who may be lurking!

I took my dd1 and dd2 on a girly outing this morning, we bought them nail varnish, ate cake, some toys, (and some clothes for me Blush) Have painted their finger nails and toe nails since we got home.......a 2 yr olld and a 5 yr old have tiny, tiny nails !!!!

Have heard from the LA and Head teacher of new school for ds (yes you may not believe your eyes but I did say NEW SCHOOL). He is being accepted full time from 27th June, assuming all paperwork and training in place!!!! Isd it too early for a Wine...yes well have to have a Brew then, but please raise a glass to ds later!Grin Smile Grin Smile

KurriKurri · 06/06/2011 14:56

Dashing in quickly to say great news on the school front Sparkle I think a Wine is definitely in order.

Girly day sounds great - yes they do have tiny nails don't they , but I bet they loved getting them done Smile

Dog is a terrible burier (is that a word) anything over a certain size has to be hidden in something. The trouble is she then goes and stand by the place she has hidden it and shakes with anxiety in case its stolen (obviously I often eat half an old sausage thats been chewed by a dog) , - so it's usually pretty easy to find Grin

KurriKurri · 06/06/2011 14:57

Good luck with the work Smee, and sorry about the rain (we have a bit, but not too bad)

SparkleRainbow · 06/06/2011 15:04

Even when starving on a diet, it would have to be pretty extreme to want that old half eaten, and chewed sausage!!!!! Grin but seeing what my dogs eat, they would think that was some tasty doggy haute cuisine! Grin at him guarding it and vibrating with anxiety.....

Sorry smee no rain here yet...... but it did rain yesterday when we were laying paving..... still not finished but looking good! Will post an in progress photo later....gosh my life is so exciting!

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2011 16:31

hooray for junior sparkle !!! fab news xxx
and topsy is safely at home and is having omelette for tea.

May I grizzle about something here ? Have had a newsletter thing from my agent- as always it's about everyone else and how well they're doing- I never get mentioned and feel v miffed. I also wrote a blog very promptly for the agency blog about the books (as urged to by agent) and that appears to have been forgotten- harrumph. Sad

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 06/06/2011 17:09

I would be Angry rather than Sad....and grizzle away MAS. The others will pale in comparison to you anyway.

Hope topsy is having well cooked omelette and that chocolate in large quantities is included in the "supplies"

Have told ds about the new school, and he actually whooped! Just have to tell him about MRI now, will do that next week.......so he can't dwell for too long.

Hope you are drying out smee.

smee · 06/06/2011 17:33

Hip-hip-hooray for little Sparkle! Wine is most definitely in order. For you obviously, not him. Smile

I am almost dry thanks - would be totally, but DS has just squirted me with a water pistol. I'm plotting my revenge. Grin

Topsy, what numpties to send you home without any pain killers. Hope the GP gave you lots. Shame you don't live closer, for I have a whole shoe box of drugs. Could easily have medicalised you to a happy oblivion..

Kurri, your dog sounds wonderfully neurotic. Poor thing must be in a constant state of torment. Hope her tummy heals quickly.

MAS, harrumph away. Think Sparkle's right, you should be angry not cross.

Now who on here was it who is PTA Treasurer? Can't remember but think someone is. I've just got myself lumbered elected and could use some pointers as we haven't even had a PTA before so no systems in place. Any top tips for embezzling welcomed. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2011 17:37

oh I missed the bit about KK's little dog-poor thing but the dentistix is funny !
Have emailed agent to point out my new books so feel a bit better.

OP posts:
smee · 06/06/2011 17:39

Am addled, MAS, I meant to say 'you should be angry not sad'. Confused

SparkleRainbow · 06/06/2011 18:08

Just cos I know how you humour me interested you are, I have posted paving in progress photos Grin

KurriKurri · 06/06/2011 18:47

That's very irritating MAS - and rather rude, I'm not surprised you feel miffed. Sad

Topsy you were sent home with no painkillers? - that's ridiculous, I hope you've got some now. Rest up now you are home and let yourself be waited on, yes to chocolate, yes to a tipple - they help in the healing process Smile

Smee you are a brave woman going on the PTA, and treasurer sounds like hard work. (I'm sure they won't miss the odd quid though - that's got to be a perk of the job Wink)

How nice that DS is excited about his new school Sparkle Smile
Your patio is looking great - it is big (mine is only about 6' square) it will be so nice to sit out there in the nice weather. And it looks as if it is well on the way to being finished. (by the way I am beside myself with Envy of your house - it looks so lovely).

DS rang earlier and invited us over for the afternoon on Friday, which will be nice.

He has been teaching the prisoners poetry and critical thinking, and says he is really enjoying working with them. He seems to just really enjoy teaching which is great.Smile

smee · 06/06/2011 19:38

Sparkle that patio's mighty impressive. Which way does it face? Are we talking all day sun, or occasional shade? Either way I'm jealous. Envy

Kurri, great that DS is enjoying his prison work. From all you've said about him, am not surprised he's enjoying it. I'd bet he's a brilliant teacher.

Me and DH hugely amused by DS's school having an Olympic opening ceremony on Thursday (over a year early!), complete with costumes and an Olympic flame, passed from class to class as they each 'perform a short demonstration of an Olympic sport'. [can you imagine!!] DS hasn't a clue which sport his class are doing. I'm hoping for synchronised swimming. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2011 20:15

wow -amazing patio ! lovely house too !!
Synchronised swimming would be hilarious smee Grin(it is anyway !)
KK - am so glad that ds is really enjoying the prison teaching- I think poetry is such a good thing too -well done him.
Celeste caught her first critter and brought it in - a frog-I caught it and took it outside (dh shrieking girlishly) and locked her in...poor thing.

pinkstarlight · 06/06/2011 21:14

topsy...so pleased to hear you will be home today.

kurri...i love the advert for dentistix,my dog insists on throwing them everywhere then settles to eat them.if anything goes missing in my house we check under the dogs bed can find anything from socks to pegs.

mas..sounds like you have worn your ds out.

sparkle...pleased at last your ds has been found a new school.

smee..you are brave.

had a really chilling day just what i needed catnapped most of it,was sick this morning but feel so much better for it. plan another chilling day tomorrow been trying to carry on as normal and think ive overdone it.

SparkleRainbow · 07/06/2011 07:59

I hope you are feeling better this morning pink......Sad you were sick yesterday. I will make you some virtual Brew later.....put your feet up.

I listened to a radio 4 programme the olther day, in which an adult child of a long since dead eastend gangster was talking about her father. He had learnt to read in prison, studied poetry and literature, became interested in psychology and philosphy and eventually "went straight" as a result. It wasn't all a happy ending, but nevertheless I think what your ds is doing Kurri must be incredibly rewarding!!

Smee, oh please let it be synchronised swimming......oh please! Grin

Thank you for the nice comments about my house. I love it, it is a small cottage though, and often feels full of the five of us! The patio, or terrace as my mother says I should call it (who knew there was a social hierarchy in paving vocabulary) faces due south, so sun all day, how lucky. One day I might be able to enjoy it and actually sit down! Wink

amberlight · 07/06/2011 08:05

Morning all!
Having all sorts of problems with watery eyes at the mo. Think it must be a chemo side effect of some sort, grr, but it's making concentrating on computer screens quite a challenge. Might go see the doc later to see what she recommends. Will catch up properly later...

topsyturner · 07/06/2011 08:19

Morning All

Just trying to catch up on all the news .
Pink - hope you are feeling a little more human today .

I have to shoot off now , dcs to throw out to school , breakfast to make and take back to bed Grin

Catch up later ladies , I am sure I have a whole raft of stupidly obvious questions to ask you all !

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/06/2011 10:07

hello topsy !
sorry to hear about watery eyes amber and hope you're feeling a bit better pink...
V nice picture of Cakes and dd on facebook Grin !
Am taking dad to hospital for his 2nd cataract today - my bcn might meet me for coffee,if she can get away, though suspect they are v busy up there...

OP posts:
cakesandale · 07/06/2011 12:29

Hi all!

Back from Norfolk, it was fab. i have skimmed through and you have all been so busy. Yay for junior sparkles and his school (and the little dds for their posh nails) - but Boo for MAS's agent. How very, very rude.

I hope all the chemo aches and pains subside a bit.

Will catch up properly with all your news later: I need to do a bit of work for a while (sigh).

I have posted a pic of me and dd on my MN profile. Still sideways. No idea why. They went the right way up automatically on FB. Sorry, but I can't seem to get them to rotate. Don't crick your necks Grin Oh, and PLEEEASE remember that this was a trick camera. I am really very lissome.
