Yes , Magherafelt is about 3/4 hour away from me . I'm not a native of Belfast , originally a Londoner , but DH is from here . And all Belfast boys eventually come home to their mammys !

DHs brother (when he was a much younger man) was in a band in London . And he used to hang out with Adam Ant ! Even he says he was extremely good looking !

I used to stalk various Duran Duran band members up and down the Kings Road as a teenage girl .

topsyturner · 24/06/2011 15:31

Hmm , think I would end up with Vivid Violet feet if dh did it !

sandripples · 25/06/2011 13:06

Hi, DD's results were delayed by a day for some reason so we really have been on tenterhooks - anyway she's got a 2.1 amd we're absolutely thrilled and very relieved, after all the stress.

Hope your face is recovering KK, and wishing everyone well - I'm going to find DH at his Quaker garden party now and we can bask in this news together!

xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/06/2011 13:25

hooray for SR junior - well done-fab news !! Grin Wine

Oh that's brilliant SR - I'm so pleased she did so well, especially because she had a bit of a hard time. Congratulations to her (it must have been pretty stressful having to wait an extra day though!)

MAS - the card arrived this morning and I absolutely love it, as does DH - he keeps coming up to me and saying 'that card is amazing' and I say 'I know' Grin. Thank you so much -DD will be so pleased Smile

Topsy - did you get the toenails finished in the end, or are you still half and half? Grin

We went to a hog roast +band +ceroc dancing +disco at DH's work last night. Didn't stay until the end because I was feeling a bit yuk. The face is slightly better (although a couple more blisters appeared this a.m - sorry TMI!) but the AB's are making me feel ill - I was terribly sick in the night. I'm not sure whether to give up on them or not and try to get something different.

DS coming over tonight to dog sit for us tomorrow while we're away - I'm getting quite excited now (we even managed to get a good deal on first class train tickets - I've never been first class before!)

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and that MrCakes and Little cake didn't get soaked in their tents (and that Cakes was cosy in the travelodge Smile)

sandripples · 25/06/2011 17:45

BTW - is Topsyturner the same Topsy who used to be on here? Sorry but because I'm not on the thread so much I've forgotten but I thought you were Topsy tuirvy or something like that before. Of course, I am also losing my marbles so if its the same Topsy just ignore this. But if its a new Topsy, well hello!

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/06/2011 18:15

um,the same ! I get confused, esp now people are on facebook too Grin
Hope you have a wonderful trip KK and feel better v soon -am so glad you liked the card Grin!

I am fairly new to mumsnet .
Only 2 or 3 months here .
Am horrified ofcourse , that there could be another Topsy Grin

smee · 26/06/2011 20:02

SO HOT!! London's like a sauna. So of course we chose to trek off on the train down to Greenwich, with far too many kids for relaxation. Was still fun, but a bit of a mad thing to do in this weather.

Had DS's school's summer fete yesterday, which was fun but took a lot of energy. I still have all the cash to count, so must get to it. Am a bit in denial as am sure it'll take forever - so many grubby, hot hands on so many pennies. Grin

Missed loads and I've only been away a couple of days, but hooray for SR's DD. 2:1's excellent. Hope you've been celebrating. Smile

Pink, brilliant you can go ahead tomorrow. Will be thinking of you. So nearly through now. Smile

Kurri, impetigo sounds a bit grim. Hope no more blisters today. Being sick seems like the final insult.

Are you heading back to GP's, MAS. V.good news that the bloods were clear, but a bit puzzling if you're still achey. I'd lay odds on Tamoxifen now. Not sure what you can do about it if it is that though.

Topsy, you're not alone on the Duran Duran thing - me and Cakes both have form - we're Birmingham girls, so were there at the start. Wink

Speaking of Cakes, I wonder how she got on with the mini-bar camping. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/06/2011 21:21

goodness smee, you must have baked yourselves !
We went to a village fete yesterday and to an NGS open garden today- massive house, lovely trees, horses, loads of fields etc - dh bought some larkspurs. Ate supper out in the garden both evenings.
I'm wondering whether I should go back to the docs- not sure what can be done really

a new week ! and nearly a new thread time Grin

OP posts:
topsyturner · 27/06/2011 07:40

Morning all .

What a glorious weekend , weather wise . I actually feel sorry for all those living and working in London today . According to the weather lady its going to be 31 degrees today !
Damn , that's hot !
Belfast is pleasantly warm , around 20 degrees . That's all I can cope with , am so not a hot weather person !

What does everyones weeks hold ?
For me , I have DS at home as he finished school last week . DD finishes this Thursday .
I start my long line of hospital appointments this Friday . So far I have appointments on Friday , the following Monday , and Tuesday .
And I will prob have another 1 or 2 next week aswell .
I think the time has come to start getting the car parking fees refunded !

For now , I am enjoying my morning coffee (made by DH before he left for work , so it tastes even nicer Grin ) in the peace and quiet .

What ever your week holds in store , I hope its a good one !

topsyturner · 27/06/2011 08:11

PS - pudding recommendation !

Found (on casualty corner - so twas 1/2 price too !) Tesco Finest Caramelised Pear Clafoutis .
Oh My God !
I am not normally a pud person , but this was devine Grin

As you were .

cakesandale · 27/06/2011 10:14

Morning all - topsy, WHY did you have to mention pudding? It is 10am and that has got my tummy rumbling. aaargh!!

I am dashing through to say chin up to KK and MAS for ailments, and that I am really really pleased for SR's dd. Great result. I am also very pleased that Pink is recovering enough to have a smaller dollop of chemo.

Hi to everyone - will be back but have to dash out to take my elderly mother to the train station.

Dd and i nearly came to blows in a kayak Blush but other than that, the weekend was a raging success. For us - though not for two of our friends - one's tent leaked like a sieve, and the other's dh took the opportunity to tell her he didn't want to live with her anymore Shock. What timing.

Two other friends passed out drunk (one of them on our picnic table, which collapsed under the strain). it was really quite riotous but i missed most of it as it all kicked off each night after I left. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/06/2011 10:23

oh my Cakes ! what dramas under canvas (even more reason to not go camping !!) Poor friend though-that must've been a shock announcement.
I broke 2 garden chairs - I could get paranoid about it but I won't- the leg of one had split and the 2nd one had a repair already. Dh has ordered hopefully sturdier ones to replace !
Am seeing doctor later on today- just to confirm that it's either age or tamoxifen I think Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/06/2011 10:24

oh and pear clafoutis sounds nice- that's pancakey stuff isn't it ? (sorry Cakes)
