Thank you. I can almost guarantee it Wink

smee · 23/06/2011 15:29

Must be National Cat Hunting Day. My butch beast has just arrived with a moth. Grin

Ouch for Pink. Hand sounds grim. I haven't heard of that reaction before. Maybe they'll change the drug or lower the dose for next round. Don't despair!

Amber, good you're feeling a bit better today. Feels brilliant when the fug lifts. You're so nearly through now. Smile

Topsy, must be all a bit emotional, DS leaving school/ you starting chemo. That priest's timing's not the best. I know it wasn't deliberate, but still. Religion's interesting. I'm also a bit of a hippy at heart. When I was diagnosed, a couple of people asked if I might find God because of it. I so didn't get that. If I'd found God I'd have thumped him for giving it to me. Grin

Got to run, but Happy Birthday to little Cakes. I trust there will be cake? Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/06/2011 15:46

KK - congratulations to your DD - great result! We're on tenterhooks for our DD's degree results tomorrow....

DS seemed ok about his ASs - he was a lot less stressed than DD, although his exams did drag on rather.

Sorry haven't been on here for a while - work's been hectic. I saw MAS had had a javelin injury and Amber's sons doing As so I hope things look up when all wounds and chemos and exams are through. Meanwhile at least there is Wimbledon to enjoy (so I won't be on here much! going to Cambridge for graduation next week, taking DS to Newcastle open day and fitting in work and SW19 -phew!)
Love to all and take heart - one colleague of mine who had BC 4 years ago saw her surgeon yesterday and he said he wouldn't need to see her again. Another similar colleague got married recently (she had a mastectomy and rebuild a few years ago) and looked truly stunning!

sandripples · 23/06/2011 21:46

Oh I forgot I have a story to tell you.

5 years ago when I took DD for her interview at Cambridge we befriended a girl also there for interviews and on her own, We took her out for lunch, she was a little intense, but very nice, you know. Called Grace Durham.

Well, after hearing an archive 'Desert Island Discs' recently by Victoria Wood I realised that her DD was at same college as mine. This had never been mentioned (I am huge Victoria fan). I told DD about it, and said lets have a look at Wikipedia and see if we can work out who it is --- and yes you've got it, it was the girl we'd taken out for lunch!! I am very tickled about this. So is my DD who does vaguely know her but they did their years abroad at different times so have only been at Clare college for one year actually at the same time. DD said, Yeah, that's the sort of thing that happens at Cambridge!'

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/06/2011 22:28

oh wow SR Grin !
and that's v nice to hear about your friend/colleague and their post BC lives- very encouraging.

KurriKurri · 23/06/2011 22:53

Excited about the card MAS Smile

SR - loads of luck for your DD tomorrow (its a bit of a nerve racking day waiting, but I'm sure she will do well Smile) and what a great story about V.Wood's DD -I didn't realise she was so grown up ( I seem to remember Victoria Wood having a baby only a few years ago - I am definitely losing my marbles) How kind of you to take her to lunch Smile

Your DD's graduation is sooner than mine's - its not until the 18th July - I still have to find a dress (sigh)

I went to yoga this morning and then into town to buy b'day presents for my mum. Anyway, I've had a sort of blistery rash on my face for a few days, so I popped int o the walk in centre. Apparently after much humming and harring, (they thought it might be shingles -I knew it wasn't) they decided it was impetigo (I thought that was something children get Confused) so I've got AB's. I also had a highish temperature and wobbly eyes according to the nurse, I'd been putting feeling very hot and somewhat lethargic down to the menopause Grin

I'm supposed to be going to a barbeque and disco and salsa dancing do tomorrow night at DH's work. So hope I can summon some energy and that no one notices my horrible spotty face Sad

I've caught up with everyone's posts, and am sending love to all. And happy birthday to little Cakes, hope she had a lovely day Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2011 07:35

oh KK that sounds itchy and horrid- hope you do make it to dh's do though.
Am looking forward to hearing about the CupCakes party Smile
Sending lots of luck to junior SR !

Lots of luck to mini sr .

Try some piriton kk . I use It when the dc have chicken pox or the like . Calms down the spots nicely !

DS eventually got brought home at 10.20pm last night !
He had a great last day . Subway , friends house , cinema , another friends house .
Ofcourse , he is still passed out in his bedroom now !
DD is tres jealous !
Will have to do something special for her after school today to make up for it .

Happy Friday Ladies .
Its a beauty here in Belfast today !

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2011 09:02

yay for ds topsy Grin
Very beautiful too here in Hampshire !

OP posts:
cakesandale · 24/06/2011 10:25

Fingers crossed for SR's dd.

How horrid about the bug KK - the piriton suggestion sounds worth a go.

Very enthused about the 2 BC ladies as well - most encouraging.

DD's birthday WAS fab - there definitely was cake (chocolate fudge - DD's choice). Two of her older cousins drove up all the way from London to see her and we all went out to dinner - plus she finally got to open all the gifts that have been sitting there since the weekend. Cue a massive snowstorm of paper and sellotape.

Talking of 18th July, KK - how's the healthy eating going? I thought I had stalled a bit but my MIL said I'd lost weight when I saw her yesterday, and she doesn't usually pay me compliments if she can avoid it, so there must be a noticeable change

cakesandale · 24/06/2011 10:58

Off camping (well not me, obviously, but I will be spending the days on site) - so here's my best to all for a lovely weekend. We've got to go soon as the detailed weather forecast shows a jag of heavy rain at just about the time we were planning to attempt to pitch the tent. Fortunately the kids get to leave school early. But, still - aaaaaargh!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2011 11:20

have a fab time cakes Grin So glad that dd had a lovely fudge cakey birthday Grin

OP posts:
topsyturner · 24/06/2011 12:52

Enjoy the camping cakes .

KurriKurri · 24/06/2011 13:39

Hi all, Fudgy cake sounds good Cakes, and happy camping this weekend.
The healthy eating isn't going all that well, I have stuck to the diet and been doing more exercise, the only thing that hasn't happened is me losing weight, which is a bit demoralising. So I may have to go to the graduation as a fat person Grin

Topsy piriton is a good idea, I will try that. What a shame about your DS being upset by the priests words, these things are hard to avoid unfortunately Sad I'm glad he had a good end of year celebration though Smile

I hope your DS has great leavers celebration tonight Amber (it's an odd set of emotions when you leave school isn't it?, kind of exciting but scary)

Hope your fierce hunter enjoyed his moth Smee Grin - My dog is a spider-murderer, - she thinks she's very brave Grin

I was going to go to keep fit this morning, but half way there I felt so tired and hot and headachey, I gave up. Its typical I've managed to be under the weather when I've got things to go to this weekend. [grrr]

Finger crossed and good vibes for SR's DD today Smile

hello to everyone else, I hope no one is feeling too grotty today, have a lovely weekend ladies. Think of me on Sunday jumping aorund in Hyde park Grin - DD has described the bands as "fogeyish" so should be right up my street Grin

pinkstarlight · 24/06/2011 14:05

my visit to the onc went well my blood was fine they are going to go ahead with my chemo on monday but at a much lower dose. only have 2 more sessions to go but of couse that depends on how i react to my next chemo session.came away with a big bag of medication to combat side effects so at least i will be better prepared this time will also be booked in for another ct scan soon ready for the surgeon and then will be able to find out what is going to happen next omg dont even want to think about that yet.

hope you all have a great weekend

topsyturner · 24/06/2011 14:09

Enjoy your fogeyish weekend kk .
Teeny bit jealous as Adam Ant was one of my teen crushes (runs away and hides as people realise how old I actually am .....)

Can someone come round to my house and finish painting my toenails for me please ?
I managed to do the right foot , but the left one is defeating me . Just can't bend enough yet .
Its called Vivid Violet , and would be very pretty if I had it on more than 50% of my toes Grin

topsyturner · 24/06/2011 14:12

Good news pink !
Here's hoping Mondays dose agrees with you better .

Just remembered , got another apt in the post today .
So I shall be in hospital on 1st July for CT scan , 4th of July for chemo (maybe brought back later on in that week for actual chemo though !) , and now 5th July for bone scan .
May aswell get a bed in there !

KurriKurri · 24/06/2011 14:28

Great you can go ahead on Monday Pink, and fingers crossed you won't feel so dreadful with this one Smile

Topsy - I loved Adam Ant too - DH and I used to bop around to Ant Music in our youth Grin good luck with the scans, and start of chemo - I hope your hospital is a nice one, you do end up feeling you might as well move in Grin

My dad's first job when he was18 was in Belfast, and I have a good friend from Uni days who came from Magherafelt (which I think is a little way outside?)

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2011 14:32

that is good news pink !
topsy -pesky not being able to do your toenails -can you persuade dh ? that reminds me that I should go and paint my mum's -she can't reach either and I always think painted toenails are a must in the summer !
Blood test came back normal- which is good- but am not sure where that leaves me.
Have fun at your fogeyfest KK Grin
