Gosh you have all been busy today. I am just popping in to say hi, and that I hope everyone is feeling ok today.

SallyScuttles · 21/03/2011 20:18

Just got back from my day out at a friends house so thankfully haven't had any time to worry and fret.
The hospital called this morning at about 10.30am and my appt is tomorrow at 1pm. I'm really glad I don't have to wait all week but also not looking forward to it at all. DH has taken the day off so we'll have a family morning and then I'll leave him to do lunch/naptime.

RWU Loving the idea of emailing someone to bring me tea and cake...

smee · 21/03/2011 21:22

Sally, that's good - though terrifying too am sure. Will be thinking of you tomorrow, with fingers crossed for them saying it's nothing. Smile

I too like the idea of e-mailing for tea and cake. Has reminded me of something. An appallingly long time ago, when I was vaguely young and reckless, I copped off with someone. Next morning I crawled to the kitchen to make us some tea. He phoned me from the bedroom on his mobile to order toast. Shock

Though Cakes wins the award for smuttiest post. I take my hat off to you. Grin

Kurri, a cow in the bird box would scare away the crows. Might be a smart move. Wink I'd bet DS's prison work will give him so much as a Director/ Actor. I know a few creative souls who've worked in prisons and they've all gained massively from it. Really hope your shoulder's on the mend again.

DH seems to be stuck in a beetroot rut. We ate mountains of it when I was having chemo to keep my iron levels up. Another bunch landed on the work surface tonight. It's not even in season is it?! Can't imagine where he's finding it..
.

LittleGreenFr0g · 21/03/2011 22:26

Sally - well thats good news? You don't have to wait very long at all for your appointment. I wish you all the luck I can xx

Well I chickened out of having my hair shaved off! I just went very short, and I don't mind it, which will come in handy :) I wore my wig to work today - I had so many comments about how shiny and good my hair looked. My hair is normally all over the place and the wig looks very well styled Grin

I have consulatant and blood appointment tomorrow morning...its been nice and peaceful for the past few weeks :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/03/2011 22:48

thinking of you tomorrow sally-and good luck LGF with consultant and bloods...night night all xxx

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 21/03/2011 22:52

LGF - glad the wig is so fab.

Lots of positive happy vibes to you and to sally for tomorrow. I hope ou will both be just fine.

Beetroot? At this time of year??? Where from? and why???? He must surely love you, smee Smile

I am glad to take the crown for something, even if it is only smut. I am quite ashamed though Grin

LittleGreenFr0g · 21/03/2011 23:07

My mum is convinced that I should try juicing! She has read up on it, and apparently beetroot is the best thing to juice. My mum is so convinced, that she has gone and bought me a juicer :) Anyone tried it?

reallywoundup · 21/03/2011 23:14

note to all.... building announcements (type of sms thingy that goes to everyone logged into the building via their security pass) very good for meetings/training/ important announcements.... NOT so good when you are covertly facebooking in the garden and press the wrong button.... oooops! they luuuurve me at work Wink apparently i am a 'legend'- not sure if thats good or not Hmm

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2011 07:34

oh RWU ! you are a legend here,at any rate Grin
love to sally today x

Sally - thinking of you, all the best wishes for your appointment.xx

LGF - good luck for you too for consultant and bloods tomorrow. Is it your second FEC on Thursday? Think Figgy was due to have hers yesterday - hope she's feeling OK. My next is week on Thursday.

It was my birthday yesterday, but I decided to make Sunday my 'official' birthday treats day, so we went out for a lovely lunch at my favourite restaurant. We all scrubbed up and dressed up (proper shirts for the boys), very civilised. DS2 is very adventurous with food, had a grown-up starter for his main course - he chose scallops and black pudding with pee puree!! And he ate most of it, surprised even me. Then we went shopping for my presents Hmm, only thing I could think of that I really wanted was new toilet bags (big and small) as recent hospital stays made me realised my PJs may be posh enough but my battered old toilet bag ain't! I had fancied one of the Red Nose Day T-shirts I saw on TV - wanted the BlackAdder Queenie one - but they were sold out. Then we all relaxed in front of a DVD - Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Lovely day Smile

Took me until about last Thursday (ie a week) to feel really 'normal' again, although even yesterday I started the day fine then by the afternoon felt a bit tired, spaced out and shaky, presume this is par for the course.

I seem to have all my hair so far, but have not reached the 2-week mark yet, and have had fair amounts of tingling, so not counting any chickens. As well as the cold cap I have been wearing a hairnet to bed every night (oh so glam, me) as that's supposed to help too, bloody better had after all this effort and indignity!

Cakes you are indeed a smutty lech! Grin

And RWU you are indeed a legend! what on earth did you broadcast? Shock

Kurri very impressed with your DS, hope he gets the work. One of my best theatre memories is seeing Endgame and Krapp's Last Tape in Oxford (early 80s), directed by Beckett himself and performed by the San Quentin Workshop. One of my schoolfriends' mum used to read with prisoners. I'm sure he and his DP will be very well looked after, and gain an awful lot from it Smile

Is beetroot really that good for iron? Didn't know that, and love beetroot. So picked up some beetroot salad for my lunch today, yum Smile

LimeJellyforBrains · 22/03/2011 10:37

OMG have just spotted the typo in my description of DS2's meal - that should of course be PEA puree and not the other...Grin

Cakesandale · 22/03/2011 11:28

LJ - that's a relief! {grin] Your birthday sounds lovely, good for you. And the restaurant sounds fab, now you've spelled the menu right Wink

I too would LURVE to know what RWU posted....

I think beetroot is meant to be jolly good for just about everything. It's not exactly my favourite thing, but I believe it's a superfood. Get juicing LGF, but I'd mix it with something nice if you can. Beetroot juice sounds a bit 'hair shirt' even if you like beetroot.

i have just been told by a client that my pricing on the last job I did was too high. As I haven't put my fees up (to them, at any rate) for 4 years, and I priced the last magazine slightly less than the one before, I decided not to pick up on the very broad hint to look again at my prices. They can either pay 'em, or go elsewhere. Angry

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2011 11:33

quite right Cakes- pay up or bugger off...tsk.
Love the idea of pee puree LJ and happy birthday for yesterday !!
Your ds sounds like my boy- he would choose scallops,or if there were mussels then def. those or anything weird and expensive

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2011 11:34

love beetroot too- my mum used to cook it for me -so much more lovely than with vinegar.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 22/03/2011 11:43

MAS -dd's like that too. Anything weird and expensive - and that can then be left untouched Angry No wonder I like Wine

reallywoundup · 22/03/2011 11:44

broadcast to entire office was.... "in garden, have cake and coffee- you joining?" was meant to be sent to one of the housing co-ordinators who i needed to talk to about work stuff- so was a legit msg, but it went to everyone and 17 people turned up to steal my cake Shock

have been handed a 'uniform' suit today as we're doing a presentation tonight on the local development plan and the MD wants us all to match and look professional- it's cheap black pinstripe and nasty with a really thin pencil skirt that hasn't got a slit, imagine walking up the stairs..... i can feel the next cock-up forming here!

must do some work......!

KurriKurri · 22/03/2011 12:49

Lots of luck today Sally - will be thinking of you Smile

Also to LGF for bloods and consultant - hope it all goes well.

JUicing is fun, but a bit trial and error to find out what combinations of things are drinkable Grin I think with beetroot, you are supposed to put it about 1:4 with other things (carrot or apple or anything that's not as strong) but it is supposed to be really good for you. (watch out for pink wee if you drink a lot of it!)

Happy Birthday for yesterday LJ - sounds as if you had a lovely day - and well done DS for his adventurous choice in the restaurant Smile

And wow to seeing Endgame and Krapps last tape directed by Beckett - It sounds brilliant.
Ds has done quite a lot of work with people in drug rehab. and he finds that very rewarding work.
I know his DP has a panic button if things get hairy, but she hasn't had to us it so far touch wood.

RWU - you are a legend - I'm glad they've realised how lucky they are to have you Grin Loving the widespread cake invitation Grin I hope all goes well tonight and the skirt behaves.

Cakes - definitely tell them to pay up or bugger off - cheeky wotsits.

I'm going to an 80th birthday lunch/buffet tomorrow, what on earth am I going to wear? - I've realised I own very little decent clothing. am useless with fashion.

Figgyroll · 22/03/2011 12:52

Hello all.

Belated happy birthday for yesterday LJ. Sending good luck vibes to Sally for 1 o'clock. Keeping everything crossed it's good news.

I'm glad you like wearing your wig LGF. I think it's only a matter of a day or so and I will have to wear mine but need to practice at home first to make sure it doesn't slip or ride up. Now I've had my hair really short for a few days I really like it and think my wig, being shoulder length, will take some getting used to. Our hospital don't do free wigs and I had to pay for mine as I don't get any benefits but it's subsidised by the hospital so only paid £13 for it - on the internet its over £120 so I'm not complaining.

2nd cycle of chemo went well yesterday - was only in the clinic for 6 hours this time Smile. I had a fairly good nights sleep despite the steroids but have woken up with a very flushed face and neck - very beetroot like - but my temperature is only 35.6 which is low for me. I think my body heat must all be going out of my head.

Off for a rest now, daytime tv is calling Wink and maybe a snooze.

Hope everyone's having a lovely day - the weather has certainly changed for the better and it seems to be cheering everyone up.

KurriKurri · 22/03/2011 13:07

I glad chemo went well yesterday Figgy (I would have wished you luck - but my memory is rubbish and I lose track of what days people are having their treatment, so many apologies)

I think the flushed appearance is just something that happens just after chemo - I always got it - it does look a bit alarming though!

Cakesandale · 22/03/2011 13:16

Well done figgy - take it easy.

KK - i have a wardrobe full of clothes I am too fat to wear, so you have my sympathy.

RWU - shame the cake invite didn't get to here. Could go a large slice.

Just had more hypno. I think I may have a private session or two to see if he can make me stop eating. If he can he is truly a miracle worker.

LittleGreenFr0g · 22/03/2011 13:44

Lots of beetroot talk :)

Figgy - wearing a wig certainly takes a bit of getting used too. I've been wearing mine on and off for 3 days now, and it is certainly a relief to take it off. Glad 2nd Chemo went well :)

LJ - 2nd FEC is Friday...for some reason they have changed the day.

My consultant appointment went well. The results of the CT scan show that it has not spread anywhere else, which is a huge relief :) The lump has got softer which is also good. He has also confirmed that it is not herceptin positive. I will have 8 rounds of chemo and then surgery. Four FEC and then 4 of something else beginning with D? Rubbish at remembering things!

My mum is bringing the juicer over on Friday so will give it a whirl...I think beetroot, carrot and apple was the one she read is the best combo?

KurriKurri · 22/03/2011 13:54

Great news about your CT results LGF. Good luck for Friday Smile

LimeJellyforBrains · 22/03/2011 14:11

LGF That is brilliant news all round! Delighted for you. Smile

Figgy I got the chemo flush as well, glad I had heard about it (on here of course) first!

smee · 22/03/2011 14:22

Beetroot juice is something even I haven't had, LGF. Go for it though and let us know. Brilliant about your CT results. Hooray for that and huge sigh of relief in your house, am sure. Smile

Figgy, I too forgot you'd reached no.2. Glad it went well, though six hours is still a very long time. I used to get very flushed too. Mine always went after 24 hours, but it is a bit alarming. Wishing you snoozable daytime tv. Smile

LJ, belated birthday greetings. Am mighty impressed by your DS's appetite. Not sure mine would eat that, though he does have a habit of surprising me. Feeling spaced out and shaky sounds familiar, so I'd say it's normal. Beckett sounds amazing. Envy

Cakes, did you remind them you haven't raised your fee for four years?! Ridiculous to say you're charging too much.

DS had a nosebleed in the middle of the night. His room looked like something from a slasher movie, so am knee deep in washing. Also wrestling with a work proposal which I can't seem to get right. I think the sunshine's distracting me.

I have just spoken to a friend whose DP went to her breast clinic referral last night. Her lump was a cyst, so that's a huge relief. Hoping the same's true for Sally. Smile
