Thinking of you figgy, I have lit a candle for you and your mum, it is flickering beside me. I lost my dad 8 years ago now, to cancer, he was only 60, so I know how you feel. I am sending you big hugs so help you through this day.

RWU I am seriously worried abou you falling off the horse, are you ok?

LJ - Yeah, yeah for you. This is fab news. I am so relieved for you. I am glad the stay went all right, and the operation, well from what you describe it seems to have gone as well as could be expected. Grin at your little shoulder bag.....fashion guru you. Grin
I am off to write the next part of ds' reconsideration for DLA. Have written about this first point, and it has taken 6 pages. Am writing a very clear, slightly emotional idiots guide, with accomapnying quotes from doctors and supportive evidence. It reads like an emotional academic paper at the moment. Confused
Have hot chocolate and big box of tissues to get me through the next bit to write.Sobbed my own body weight in snot and tissues when I did the first bit. Shock and tmi!

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 10:43

courage ma sparkle - you'll do a great job I'm sure, but must be very emotional and draining.
Take care on that horse RWU !

Fantastic news from LJ - yay!!!

RWU I do hope the ring turns up. I put a Swatch down when i went for a bath, and have never seen it from that day to this (more than 20 years). I remember your eternity ring though - it's gorgeous (and personally chosen Wink so I hope it isn't away long!

Good luck with the report sparkles.

my candle is burning away here nicely and I must go and do some work. But I must just say that the split seems final at the moment: ex dp moving out and stuff getting divided up. Apparently dh's niece has a history of quite flakey relationships, but we sure didn't see it coming! Dd is a bit miffed about not being bridesmaid, but it seems she wasn't looking forward to the flight so she's coping with the disappointment Grin

smee · 11/02/2011 13:48

Serious boasting, but have just cycled through rain to swim. Ha!

But have been thinking of Figgy. Think that's what made me go really. Something to affirm life. Figgy, impossible day I'm sure, but I really hope it's all gone as well as it could for you all. x

  • wow, LJ, that is FANTASTIC!! Big whoops for you. Bet it's a huge relief and will make your meet next week a lot easier. You already expect chemo, so fingers crossed no more shocks, just have to get through it all, which you will. Smile

RWU, you need 3 handbags am sure - though doubtless you'll pick up the wrong one and get to work without something vital. + blimey, tell that horse to behave. Good the haystack caught you, but last thing you need is some broken bones.

MAS, I'm not keen on seeing myself either - DH has a photo of me on his wall at work looking less than glamorous (I'm buttering toast!). Was horrified when I saw it, but he refuses to take it down.

Kurri, hope your veins were amenable for blood tests today. I love your chimp story, though I don't think zoos have improved all that much. Poor beasts didn't seem to have much room and all looked a bit fed up. Sad

Sparkle, how's the breast today?? Really hope a bit calmer and that DS finishes the school week on a high. Mine's finishing the class 'cottage of the rain forest' today. Took me ages to work out he meant 'collage'. Grin

Cakes, no wedding; excellent. Does this mean you can book a desirable holiday instead?? I do hope so.

  • SR, is Spain this weekend? Have lost track. If so, have a fantastic time. Smile

Hard to keep up with you lot. Hope I haven't missed anyone. Better do some work now..

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 14:32

lol cottage of the rain forest Grin

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 14:39

I bow at the alter of smee's virtuous exercise regime.

I too am virtuous. Having written another 3 pages of pointed academic argument as to why DWP should give ds DLA. I have now got 9 pages of detailed text, huge pile of supportive evidence, and still one section to go, which will be a well structured and convincing (I hope) diatribe in respect of the "highly qualified doctor" the DWP sent to examine ds. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 14:49

well done for rainy cycling smee !
Is it your hol this w/end SR ? if so,have the loveliest time.
I have cleaned a bit,and even rinsed out the tumble dryer condenser.
Off to do some work.....

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 14:49

Grin @ cottage of the rainforest - I had a very clear mental picture of that !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 11/02/2011 14:56

Smee 'Cottage of the rainforest' sounds like somewhere really nice to stay - maybe DS has come up with a money making holiday idea Grin

Well done on the cycling and swimming.

Yes they managed to get some blood from me - in first time and no prodding about hooray!

Then I went into town afterwards and had coffee with a group of friends, and changed my library books (I lead a very exciting life, I'm sure you can tell Grin)

Figgy I've been thinking about you today as well, and have my candle burning. I hope everything went as well and as peacefully as is possible.

Sparkle - arm yourself with tea and treats, it's bound to be emotional, but hopefully it will get through to those DLA bastards people, and get you the result you need. Smile

I think SR is off to Spain very soon - so happy holidays SR have a lovely timeSmile

RWU - hope your little magpie spills the beans and your ring turns up soon Grin. Am Envy of your handbags. And please be careful on that horse - thank goodness you had a soft landing.

Did anyone see this on another thread? It's a live lambcam - where you can see the newborn lambs and if you're lucky see one being born. I thought some of your LO might like it Smile - warning - it's very addictive - you don't like to turn it off in case you miss something Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 17:15

lamb cam sounds lovely....
so glad they managed to get some blood without too much trouble -hooray.
Am going to see if my prescription is ready and see if chemist has my usual tamoxifen in -if not, then I'll just have what there is-am sure my anxiety is purely psychological Grin
Am attempting to make ice cream for 12 tomorrow - (though dn might refuse it) My brother, lalaa, niece and 2 lots of our friends are descending on my parents house for curry night -we are ordering a massive take away ! I suddenly remembered pudding,so hope that ice cream will be ok. I have bought those nice chocolate curl wafers..am making it with chocolate, fudge bits and some kahlua (recipe says cooled espresso but ds says kahlua will be more exciting) (it's his grandpa's fault for letting him taste liquers at Christmas)

OP posts:
smee · 11/02/2011 17:51

mmm MAS, sounds delicious - can I come?! I can eat DN's share. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 19:27

you'd be very welcome smee !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 11/02/2011 19:39

That ice cream sounds wonderful MAS. Smile

Just noticed we have whizzed through the posts and are over nine hundred again ShockGrin

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 19:39

MAS it does sound delicious, rather putting my plans for dinner tomorrow to shame.....might have to get something yummy from Morrisons tomorrow. Gosh I have absolutely NO will power Grin

KurriKurri · 11/02/2011 19:39

Oh and have you spotted the new Brew?

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 19:40

Wow over 900 already, see I just added another just because I could Wink

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 19:40

And another, have you seen we have a new Brew I love this place

SparkleRainbow · 11/02/2011 19:41

Cross posted kurri, but great minds eh!

KurriKurri · 11/02/2011 19:47

Great minds indeed SparkleGrin

sandripples · 11/02/2011 19:58

Hi all,

LimeJ I am so pleased about your nodes - that's great news. (Not really sure why you need chemo then??)

Sparkle - well done on your writing up your DS's case for DLA - I hope it will be supported eventually. Thanks for asking about my friend. Turns out she has lymphodaema in the operated breast - I didn't realise this could happen, and I don't know what if any treatment can be given.

RWU - well obviously you will need 3 handbags for your new job, almost one per season, you will look very well accessorised (visions of RWU in her riding gear and after coming through a hedge, going to work, but very well accessorized....)

MAS that ice cream does sound great. Have to confess that after 2.5 weeks of the diet I fell off the wagon today, had a small very beautiful cupcake at work - was being sold for breast cancer, and then also 3 Go Ahead biscuits after my tea. Think it s because I had a head-ache most of the day so will weakened....never mind tomoz is another day.

Yes its an early start as flight is at 0710, so better go and pack now....DH and DS and the DS's friend are all out and haven't [packed and we have to get up at 5 - am I panicking? No actually, they'll have to sort themselves out.

I love the Rainforest cottage. Sweet.

Love to all, and hoping Figgy is OK.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/02/2011 22:36

safe journey SR and have a wonderful time !
Shall I start us on a new 8th thread ?

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 11/02/2011 22:39

i have returned from the vision of hell that is Ikea! we spent 5 hours mooching, and bought...... cushions....... throws........ candles..... daim bars..... and more cushions! dh thinks we've lost it!

I hope today went well figgy, i've been thinking of you.

LJ fab news about the nodes Smile

do not fear for my tumbles on the horse- i am beyond the point of having a sense of self-presevation, if i fall off i can dust myself down and get back on!

Lamb-cam sounds good, we have the live thing up here, lambing starts on March 10th for us and the ds's are all going night-lambing with their cousin. We're also waiting for 'Gertie' (Gertrude) the calf, dnephews prize pedigree Limousin cow was due last week, but so far nothing has appeared, we are hoping for a lovely calf to take to the Royal Welsh Show this year!

KurriKurri · 11/02/2011 22:47

RWU - night-lambing sounds magical (although in reality I know from my farming sister that its very hard work!) - I hope the calf arrives safe and well.

We don't have an IKEA anywhere near us - probably just as well or I'd get over excited Grin

MAS - I think a new thread is a good plan - before we overflow Grin

SR - bon voyage!

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/02/2011 08:45

will see to a new thread shortly...meanwhile-my mum has had another fall-this time she was adjusting rugs and has broken her hip-so it'll need pinning. Dad was helped by the lovely neighbour to sit her on her chair and paramedics whisked her away..she's being seen by orthopaedic bods today. Arggghhhh ! I just think poor dad as it's even more stress and worry for him. We are still doing our curry night as it'll be cheering . What next ?

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 12/02/2011 10:53

Oh MAS - I'm so sorry, - your poor mum Sad and your poor dad of course, how awful.

Do you have any idea how long she will be in hospital? I hope it's not for too long and that she makes a speedy recover (well as speedy as possible with a broken hip).

Hope you are OK too and not too shaken up - She will be in very good hands at the hospital.

xx
