Well, I'm just here for the banter and a chance to talk bollox, and we also do weight loss, WATER drinking (I'm the 'ficcial water monitor, and I have a badge), and heart to hearts..

I am the Mittz(not Mitts), I need to lose about 10lb, but get my head straight in the process..

I am sure one of my lovely companions will be along shortly......

Ooohh.. good moment to drop in.. Alice, seriously, get a new born baby grow and carry it with you at all times,, the emotions it brings are said to stimulate labour hormones.

I was so nesty when DD was arriving it alarmed me. And I just knew. Had her at home, with DS running up and down stairs for update . He would run in the room and ask 'how's it going ladies?'.. bless!

I am working madly so can't stop for long.

I like finding things I have popped away ID . I love boots. Long flowy skirts with petticoat showing..mmmmmm clothes.

Hope all else are well xx

Sorry ladies, was making enough shepherds pie to feed an army

I keep getting random tightenings/contractions, but nothing. May have a G&T tonight and pounce on DH, could be the only way. Hate to break it to you SAF but it took DD 30hrs to only get half way so not feeling too optimistic about doing the whole thing in less than 7hours

Think i might make some cakes in a minute. Thinking pear upside down cake?

Would love to take DD to NH museum, but she is still only 2 and may get a bit bored quite quickly.

SAF - I have to say gingerbread is uber yummy.

Righto lighter ladies. I have another annoucement to make.

It has been brought to my attention that I drink far too much. I drink every night and that adds up to around 70, yes 70 units per week in an average week. More if it's date night.

This is because vodka is my weapon of choice.

That has to stop and now.

I have no idea how to do it but I am going to start by posting on the 'Old Bags' thread and seeing how far I get. As well as staying on here for your support if that is ok?

I'm going to do it without the GP for now I think and have just sat DH down and told him that I have to stop/cut back dramatically/limit my intake......... whatever.

I am shocked at just how much I 'need' to feel floaty, relaxed, able to sleep etc.

Sorry for bringing the thread down but I wanted to get this out into the open so that it made it 'real' IYSWIM.

Mittz · 27/07/2010 18:15

No Mouse, you have our absolute support. We are here for whatever, whenever and I have every respect for you for facing this and realising it needs resolving.

I'm a bit crap at the moment but if you need a hug, or just a boost or whatever, you have my number.

Can you set yourself goals and targets like with weightloss? I don't know, put the money in a pot towards something?

Also, like other things that get out of hand, perhaps identify where the need is coming from.. if you are switching off from stress or pain, are there other ways to relieve them. We all know how selflessly you care for minimouse but it is so full on, you must be shattered..

Big big love Mouse, take care and wishing you all the very very best with your fight..I have no doubt you can crack it, you are an amazing lady xx

gives mousey a big squishy hug. well done for facing this head on - it's a big step on the path to sorting this out. and fully agree with Mittz - you have a lot to deal with in terms of chronic pain and worries about your DS - I know there's no easy answers, but maybe look at ways of making things easier on a day to day basis - either through official channels (SS for respite care/Homestart) etc or buying in cleaning/nursery hours etc.

Mouseface · 27/07/2010 18:46

Thanks guys.

Mittz - it's 18:44 and I have not had a drink.

That is 44 minutes later than the first one would normally be.

Small steps.

Thank you for your offer of RL support. You are truly wonderful and have more than enough to deal with. I will call if I need you.

I'll be on here just as before but hopefully, healther and happier as I unravel the reasons as to why I 'need' to drink.

Other than the obvious.

TC - thank you also for your suggestions of help. I have a cleaner but due to DS having his feeding tube and living in a tiny village, nursery is a no for now. He can go to play group soon though, I'll have to stay with him.

MrMouse has always 'no'd' respite from the start but is wonderful with DS and helps as much as he can. Plus DS is getting used to folks now so when people come, he'll stay with them.

There is more to my drinking than DS and pain but it certainly compounds the issue if that is the right phrase.

Thank you again for not drumming me out!!!

Here's to a lighter, brighter Mouse. xx

Mouse - I will fb you my further thoughts if that is OK?

In terms of the playgroup etc stuff - are you happy to go along with? I never went down the statementing route, but there are lots of ladies on the SN board here who know the sen code of practice backwards, and could advise if you wanted to look at getting 1-1 for mini-mouse. Obviously right now he is little and you would want to settle him in anyway, but let that thought percolate for the future....

you won't be the first and probably not be the last of my online or real life pals to recognise and get on top of a drink problem, put it this way. I have no great advice or experience, but like Mitts am happy to offer virtual and real life tea and sympathy, you have my number too.

TotalChaos · 27/07/2010 18:54

saf - well done on your gingerbread. I made a crap carrot cake with DS today (realised too late that we didnt have any cinnamon or mixed spice, and forgot to put a bit of fruit juice in), so it was edible but bland. still DS ate plenty
