Ooh, I haven't seen one, Mac- shall check now!

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2010 13:06

Just ordered a new rucksack for when I go camping at this festival. 45l capacity! That'll take all my clothes, and all the camping lights and things I've got to bring for us And I can attach my sleeping bag to the top and camping mat to the bottom and save us carrying a fair amount of stuff!

God, just realized how unbelievably sad it is to be excited about a rucksack. Or going camping. But it IS my first ever festival!

double - my pesky kid is being not so pesky today, mini has just helped me clean the bathroom (and actually helped) and is now busily cleaning the sitting room floor. Gave her an dettol spray bottle (empty so just filled with water) and she is quite merrily spraying and cleaning the laminate

Just need to bribe persuade junior to do her room now

You been back up to the lakes Mac?

LV - at the festival, we are aiming to do camp bestival next year, so as we have only ever spent one night under canvas, we are building up slowly

Have just consumed a rather lovely sunday roast, the first one i have cooked in months - actually, probably christmas dinner was the last one i think The girls are usually at their dads on a sunday, and its not worth doing one just for me. So, as they are here today, i figured i should make the effort. Shoving a lemon up a chicken's bum is not something i ever thought i would do

Forgot to say yesterday, i had a lovely agency pa for a change so we went shopping. Instead of getting an online shop for £70, i managed to get everything on my list, and more, for £40 - going to fruit shop, butchers, greengrocer and discount store. Am happy

iggi999 · 18/07/2010 13:41

I still remember my first (and last) festival. I still have nightmares about the toilets from time to time. I imagine they are a little less "rough" these days!

MacTheWife · 18/07/2010 13:46

Toilets at festival are still rough iggs, believe me, they are baaaad

Jet great about your shopping bargains i never buy food online, i like to shop around for the bargains

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2010 13:50

My friend's advice to me, as she went to this festival last year, was this "You hold your breath, you don't hang around and you think happy thoughts" when it comes to using the loos. Oh joy.

They've published the price list for food/drink now. Wow, it's sort of pub prices, which isn't too bad, I'll probably eat lunch in the arena, breakfast and dinner in the campsite though!

Mouseface · 18/07/2010 13:51

Afternoon, tis me, Mouseface.

How are we all. Had a lovely lie in this morning. And......... a morning sheet shuffle! Yay!!! Not managed one of those in a very long time.

Full cooked breakfast to follow. Ah, make Mouse happy.

Now doing shed loads of laundry, cleaning and stomach crunches. Oh and I'm off to wood stain the new back door before it's fitted.

MrMouse is up the scoffolind painting the house, DS has just given in to nap time and DD is chilling in her room.

Jet - can you send mini round here after she's done your floor.....mind are in dire need of a clean.

LV - hope the weather is ok for you, I take it you have wellies packed too?

Mouseface · 18/07/2010 13:53

'scoffolind' ?????

Scaffolding. Der.

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2010 14:02

Mouse, to not pack wellies would be a fatal error! Yeah, got a nice pair of floral ones

morning all.

Double im the same. the more i get the more i want. had some last ngiht so ^needed6 some this morning.

Oddly it works the same with cake too.

we are having a great big fat roast pork dinner. I can't wait. Not at all healthy but i don't care. pork is worth being fat for.

BoF - i love that story. I remember when sonmeone first posted it here and have passed it on to many friends who moan about their own traumatic birth story.

LV - I love festivals, haven't been for years but i love them. oh, and a tiny bit of Vic rub just under the nose before you go into the porterloo is a godsend.

MacTheWife · 18/07/2010 14:29

loved the link bof, thats mingsome

which festival are you going to LV? i would love to buy a campervan and travel to festivals all over the country, just me and finnster, it is a dream of mine

can someone explain to me what is this 'sex' thing? i dont have it, but its vaguely familiar

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2010 14:34

Mac, going to Sonisphere, which is all heavy rock/metal music

I wish I'd spent this summer travelling the country working festivals. When is it permissible to have a mid-life crisis and just give up work for 6 months to go and do it? I'm 20 so think I'll have to wait a while before doing it but oh well!

Mouseface · 18/07/2010 14:39

LV - a few essentials (apart from cash and suncream) that I have been told are a must for festivals are -

  1. Imodium for the trots, last thing you need!

  2. Pain killers (something decent like co-codamol) for the hangovers.

  3. Antiseptic cream for any sore bits you may get.

  4. Dioralyte for the dehydration.

And last but not least.......

  1. Condoms. For any er, well you know......

The last one is in no way intended to suggest that you are a loose young lady who is likely to jump into any old tent but hey...... best to be safe.

MacTheWife · 18/07/2010 14:46

another to add to your list of essentials is baby wipes, great for a multitude of things:

-wiping bogs seats,
-using as bog roll
-wiping armspits and other bits if there are no showers
-taking makeup off or face paints if you decide to have one done

and loads of other things, i never go anywhere without babywipes

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2010 15:04

Yeah, apparently the showers are basically communal, so I think babywipes will be used in abundance! So excited now, just need to talk to my mate about staying at hers on the Thursday so our mate who's driving only has to stop at one house (her brother is coming but obviously they're in the same house).

Double - would that be a babysinglemuvva?

WTF is that all about. Saw it the other day and meant to rant about it. If anyone called me that when I was on my own with DD I would've smashed them one in the gob. Cos I'm all class!

Seriously, how degrading.

Oh and you are so not downtrodden, you are fabufeckinglovely. I heart you.

Afternoon.

DC are parked in front of Alice in Wonderland, DH is fitting the new shower.

Managed to get one half price for £70 bargain!

Bathroom is an ongoing project. DH wants to fit it and tile it himself, which would take ages to fit around work. I want someone to come in and do everything for us, but tbh we can't afford it.

LV festival sounds fun. I've not been to one in years.

Hurrah for Morning sex - the best kind.

You lot are all fabulous and I heart you all. xx

Mouseface · 18/07/2010 16:38

Great news re the shower! I watched Alice with DD yesterday, was a bit odd but visual effects were amazing! Cast of thousands in it too. We played guess who the voice over is!

Double - I'd love to see you tear the towns folk apart dare they say it to your face!!

I bet you are like 'wind her up n watch her go' aren't you?!!

Love it.
