I usually vote Tory but not this time. Hell will freeze before I vote reform. There were plenty of options for you that don't consist of racist individuals and policies.

How could you vote for them?

Edited

Not necessarily, for some the reform candidate might be better than the other candidates on offer.

I was struggling with my vote, reform were campaigning well in my area which has been a Tory stronghold for a very long time and sadly I’m not expecting that to change. The Labour candidate I actually liked but can’t bring myself to vote for them overall even though I’ve always been a labour voter. If I didn’t think the Reform candidate was an actual racist misogynistic prick (I certainly don’t think they all are) but this guy is, I could quite easily have been swayed to vote for them over Tory or Labour. The thing is the candidate has a lot of pull in the area, been a business man for decades employing locals, excellent reviews from customers has community based activities so I can see why he has been popular.

In the end after a lot of soul searching I voted independent, she has the local area at heart which has been proven in her years of work in the wider community. I thought voting independent would be pointless but in the end I’m hoping it makes a difference in my area, which has been a Tory dumping ground like other places for too long. As I said I liked the Labour candidate but don’t agree with their policies and sadly a Labour candidate would just follow the party whip.

Landslide!!!!

SapphireSeptember · 04/07/2024 22:03

The local independent candidate. No way on God's green earth am I voting Reform or Tory, I've voted for the Lib Dems, Labour and Greens in the past, but can't vote for any of them anymore, and I can't vote for the SDP, Communist Party or Party of Women in my area.

Lib Dem as a tactical vote

How does a tactical vote work though? Why don't you vote for the party you want?

Yes. And shaking slightly. And now… it’s time for election bingo.

Lonelycrab · 04/07/2024 22:05

Biggest landslide exit poll ever, surely?

Whu · 04/07/2024 22:06

I stayed politically neutral all day for this post to remain fair.

Now it’s done I can say I’m delighted with the exit poll, although horrified with the number of reform MPs.

Workers Party.

I understand why people vote tactically but can’t bring myself to do it personally, because I think if we went with what we truly wanted, we could break the Lab/Con stranglehold on our country.

Xtraincome · 04/07/2024 22:06

Is anyone else watching Sky News and thinking the graphics are a bit wild this year!

The party leaders faces are in hexagons outside number 10, on top of a greyed out constituency map of the UK while the panel is placed in a semi-circle alongside it 😆 🤣

I'm horrified by the number of Reform MPs as well, and I hope they're wrong!!

HungryLittleCrocodile · 04/07/2024 22:11

Thankfully, Reform didn't do as well as some people predicted! Shock

I was worried Nigel Farage may be PM tomorrow!

Think he will pop off back into oblivion?! Or stay and fight with his 13 seats?

Heucherarowan · 04/07/2024 22:12

The best bit is that one annoying poster has promised to stop posting if the Tories don't get in. Result!

Samedaysameshit · 04/07/2024 22:12

Disappointed that the conservatives are projected to get 131.
was hoping for double figures.

Toooldforthisshit49 · 04/07/2024 22:13

Me-Labour DH --Tories hoping to get SNP out as they're useless 🤞

I so hope the SNP figure is correct. I'll be delighted if it is.

Redhairandhottubs · 04/07/2024 22:14

Feeling quite emotional after watching BBC News. Let's just hope the exit poll is right 🤞

GameOfJones · 04/07/2024 22:14

I'm really horrified by the number of Reform seats too.

I'm not particularly happy with a huge landslide. I'm quite worried about how things will go under Labour and can't bear their stance on women's rights. I think the government always needs a strong opposition. I didn't vote Conservative either as I said above.

Certainly interesting times!

Crying with happiness if that exit poll is to go off. My cousin aged 48 died in hospice while the Tories partied the night away and were groping each other in hallways.

tonight is just a small justice for those that suffered during the Covid pandemic and were made a laughing stock of the tories

Hi everyone.
Not to sound like a broken record on the theme of entry into C of E schools, just wondered if anyone can answer my question. I’m not a church goer and don’t intend to go to church to assure my child gets into one. HOWEVER, my LO has attended church v regularly almost since birth with my mum (who we live with). My LO does little prayers at home and seems to be learning some lovely stuff at Sunday school. Now here is the crux of the matter We do have a Cof E school attached which (you’ve guessed it) does seem lovely and I would actually be quite happy for my child to go there as she certainly does enjoy church. I just wanted to ask if it MUST be parents who attend with the child for this to count on a school application, or whether a grand parent would be sufficient. Just wondered if it’s worth applying, as I know the school is immensely popular and probably no point in applying if we don’t come under the church criteria (I think the whole of the local nursery just joined for that very reason)! We are very lucky in our area to have a wealth of outstanding primary schools, so it’s not a deal breaker. It’s more that I know my LO would probably already have friends there and does seem to love the praying and little things they learn in church, which I guess would carry through to the school. Has anyone come across this before?
