And THAT is your real issue - not that I spoiled my ballot but that I did not vote Left. Even if I liked the current incarnation of the Labour Party it would be pointless in my constituency.
For many voters in the country, their vote means nothing.

Edited

No it isn’t. It’s that you threw away something really precious. My vote (in my hitherto extremely safe seat) actually means something this time. It’s the first time in my 52 years of voting it ever has but I’ve voted every time since I was 18.

For decades I've lived in a safe seat.
I always voted. I never felt my vote meant nothing.
One day things might change and the seat isn't so safe. Today might be one of them.

You tell lots of random people you are going to do something that doesn't make any difference to the outcome. You do that and then tell random people that you did that something that doesn't make a difference.

Random people laugh.

You say that random people are spiteful to laugh. If you think what you said, then did, you might in time laugh too. You may not get why people find it amusing. Fair enough.

Personally, I'm glad lots of people can be bothered to speak up and vote, whether their choice wins or loses, they did their bit to help the country select the next government. As another poster said we don't get the opportunity very often.

It may mean something this time. It may not.

One things for certain, by not voting or spoiling it won't change the outcome indeed the incumbent who relies on people not bothering or spoiling might get in again.

I meant it might change something this time or it may not. It always means something, it's a vote and they all count.

Exit poll has tories on 131.

I guess it depends on which poll numbers they look at! Some polls had them as low as 50 seats!

Which was always more a demonstration of the volatility that starts to occur with low numbers of seats.

Its a landslide.

Rejoice!

I really wouldn't start rejoicing yet. There's no guarantee of anything.

Franzkafkascat · 04/07/2024 22:55

Well Jeremy hunt has possibly lost his seat.

I think we can rejoice that the nonsense of women haters stating they know what a woman is is over.

Its the will of the people.

No. Because they were predicted fewer than 100. So 136 would be better than anticipated.

The largest ever swing against the Tories, that is as bad as bad can be.

No. The thread title was they've done better than predicted. Which it looks like they have.

Tbf I never thought the Tories would end up with fewer than 100 seats. Especially with the way they were scaremongering about the dangers of a ‘super majority’, which was clearly having some impact.

No. I thought that was pessimistic. But the polls were throwing up very low numbers of seats.

Thingscanonlygetsunk · 04/07/2024 23:12

The exit poll has 125 seats that are too close to call. So 131 could be 99, or 80.
Much as the other polls were saying.

Wow if that's true things keep getting better. He destroyed so many things. Whichever department he touched.
