Unless absolutely SHEDLOADS of people who voted Conservative in 2019 vote Labour this time.

That's right, isn't it?

I’m just horrified on a mainly women’s forum, how many women are effectively willing to be turkeys voting for Christmas.

It's not quite so simple is it? Labour will give women more rights overall and improve equality. The conservatives tax policies are worse for women as are their employment policies etc. The price is that will include trans women. So the option is a higher standard including trans or a government that doesn't give a shit about women but know that trans-women are actually men. It is more like turkeys choicing between chrirstmas and thanksgiving.

Under the Tories, rape is effectively decriminalised, increasing numbers of women and children have been pushed into poverty, womens health issues have been neglected and waiting lists have soared, online violence, degradation and abuse of women has flourished under the guise of "porn" and there's been an increase in open misogyny.

The leader of Reform is a lying unfaithful shagger who writes off misogyny and racism as "things men do" and is friendly with woman hating, alleged trafficker and pimp Andrew Tate.

Yet a woman voting for Labour is a turkey voting for Christmas.

Pull the other one 😂😂😂

RishisLeavingDo · 01/07/2024 09:58

Because of stats like this, unless you think women are immune to homelessness

Labour can't win

The very fact Labour are willing to include men who identify as women and tell women to be quiet about it, indicates to me they don’t give a flying fuck about women. Did you see Starmer clenching his fist in a clear signal of male aggression when Jane from London challenged him on this issue the other day. Please don’t think Labour are in any way for women. They have no qualms in telling women to shut up. The Lib Dem’s are even worse. Labour stand for pseudo equality, The Lib Dem’s for pseudo liberalism. Women don’t benefit from either.

Look at the Labour council in Birmingham. Their sexism has bankrupted the council.

It’s unlikely Labour will be able to improve the situation with any of this.

Labours plans however open up women’s safe spaces and support services even further to men. It’s creates a fear around women expressing themselves. Labour are not the friend of women. Birmingham city council - the one who was bankrupted because of institutional sexism is proof of that.

I clench my fist when I'm angry or frustrated. I'm female. Honestly, that's the most ridiculous argument I yet heard from a GC single issue voter, and that's saying something.

Getting angry is more the issue though, he’s about to lead and questions on single sex spaces provoke anger over listening

BIossomtoes · 01/07/2024 11:12

It looked more like frustration than anger to me. And frankly I don’t blame him, this never ending nonsense frustrates the hell out of me.

I might have missed it, but who are you saying we should vote for?

I agree with you on the issue, but I would rather push back on Labour when they are in power than allow someone like Reform get in, whose policy on this is clearer.

EasternStandard · 01/07/2024 11:21

He’ll have to deal with the contradictory statements at some point rather than try rehashed lines to deflect

Jane was great at cutting that off

I would never tell anyone who to vote for. I’m simply pointing out that Labour are not the friend of women. Once Labour are in power it r we I’ll be too late. They will already have the mandate to fuck women over in favour of men.

Starmars fist clench at an intelligent woman who challenged him clearly indicates what he thinks of strong intelligent women who don’t bow down to his views.

I think it's very unlikely that that is a genuine poster. To get those facts wrong, they would need to be a bot, a troll, or maybe some other kind of bad-faith actor. No genuine poster from the UK could make that mistake, IMO.

I wouldn't be so sure. I've heard real people in real life say some shockingly ignorant and anti-factual things when it comes to politics.

Yes of course. These problems affecting women just can't be fixed Hmm

I think clearing the backlog of rape cases so victims are less likely to drop out is a good start. Would far rather have judges doing that than Rwanda

Devonbabs · 01/07/2024 11:56

@blossomtoes Oh no, it was anger, Many men become violent when frustrated. Making a fist was a very clear sign here. People need to look at this kind of indication of true feelings behind the bland statements.

So which part of this “nonsense” are you fed up of women raising and Labour failing to address?

Women being silenced when they raise concerns over dignity and safety when single sex spaces are undermined?

The multiple effects on women’s healthcare

The derogatory language used to describe women

The silencing of women and destruction of careers when they raised concerns

The impact on women’s sports, being made to face men in full context sports, often forcing the women to pull out of sport rather than face a very dangerous situation? Putting off women participating in sports as they know they will face a man

the targeting of vulnerable children in the education system passing off an ideology as fact?

Are you not bothered about a woman who was raped not only being forced out of a support group but harassed and prevented from starting a single sex rape support group.

These are just a few of the issues off the top of my head. Which of these )presumably all of them) are you bored of hearing about and think women should just shut up about?

Maybe you think fertile women should just don white bonnets and red capes, spread their legs lie back and think of socialism instead.

It's easy to be negative about Labour, but without a better option that's who a lot of people will vote for.
I honestly don't see a better option.

Labour are not even in power (yet) so I don't see how you can blame them for all this.
I thought that most of these things were introduced/happened while the Tories were in power

Exactly that. There’s also the small matter of the backlog of rape cases going to court. All 2,700 of them. That’s really great for women.

All of this happened under the tories. Along with women bearing the brunt of austerity and cuts to public services.

The tories are no friend to women, and anyone who thinks they are is kidding themselves.

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 01/07/2024 15:56

I am GC, but I find the blinkeredness of the GC single issue voters unbelievably frustrating.

If you want an excuse to vote Tory, go ahead, but don't use false feminist justifications when all the evidence tells us loud and clear that Conservative policies are not good for women.

verdantverdure · 01/07/2024 17:31

Takoneko · 01/07/2024 07:58

Electoral calculus are actually predicting the Lib Dems will get slightly more seats than the Tories. I dare not get my hopes up that they are right.

There is a much narrower confidence interval on the number of seats for the Lib Dems.

The range (90% confidence) for the LDs is 48-82 seats, for the Tories it’s 24-170 seats.

It’s going to be an interesting night.
