You can't really trust anyone of them to do what they say but......

Out of green, Reform and Liberal who should I vote for and Why?

Deffo don't want to vote labour or conservative, so please only sell the others to me! 😜

@UrsulaBelle I'm glad you said that about the "indigenous" right-wing Trump vote. I couldn't even work out how to address it.

Reform appeal to those who feel ignored. Branding them racist etc is only going to harden their position. People have learned nothing from Brexit. Until we can discuss immigration rationally this divide will exist. Smug/sarcastic left wingers should learn to be quiet they only put people off voting for their party.

Most of the Reform voters are defecting from the Tories. They are increasing the chances of a Labour victory by diluting the right wing vote, so arguably, anyone who wants rid of the Tory government should be encouraging people to vote for Reform. They won't ever get enough support to actually take many seats because the majority of the voting public will draw the line at voting for a far right party. There is, of course, a danger that they will move the Tories even further to the right, which is what Farage wants, but common sense will eventually prevail in the end and the Tories will realise that they need to move back towards the centre to actually get elected.

As for having a sensible, rational conversation about immigration, I'm all in favour of that. We need to take a proper look at the facts about why we need immigration as well as the impact of immigration at the levels we are currently seeing. But there is no place within that rational debate for racists - they need to be called out and sidelined, not tolerated or given the respect of being treated as valid opinions that deserve to be considered.

ToWhitToWhoo · 29/06/2024 15:04

If you are somewhere where LibDems might get in, then consider them; they are the ones with the greatest chance of having an impact. I am voting for them myself, for tactical and local reasons. But you'd need to consider your particular candidate. They're an even broader church than Labour or Tories, and your candidate could be anything from a thoughtful semi-independent moderate leftist, less constrained than Labour by the realpolitik of being a potentially governing party, to essentially a socially liberal Tory, who still thinks that going into coalition with Cameron and Osborne was the greatest idea ever.

If the environment and climate change are your top issues, and you value principle strongly over pragmatism. then the Greens are for you! But again check the particular candidate- you could potentially get an anti-vaccination loony or other poorly vetted dodgy type.

Also, there may be constituencies, where the Greens and/or LibDems could split the anti-Tory vote.

Reform are vile; not even worth considering.

Google will tell you

I was asking how you define it, rather than what it actually means. I suspect you have no idea.

Again as a PP said, lefties insult the natives and the natives dont like it. If you didnt bite at the simplest things then Trump and Farage wouldnt have the followings they have. Wokery created Trump and Farage and continues to fan their flames.

Sookafatwan · 29/06/2024 14:51

The lefties will never understand this. Same as USA. The more indigenous people are ignored, the more they push back.

What are the Native American Indians doing to “push back” in America?

The natives?

I'm not entirely sure if you're a genuine Reform supporter or a plant posing as a Reform supporter to prove how stupid they are. If it's the latter, you're doing a grand job.

Sookafatwan · 29/06/2024 15:23

It would be disingenuous to dispute that countries have native peoples. But go ahead, keep pushing and keep Farage and his team alive. Guardian readers again missing the point. It's this loony leftyism that gave us the EU Referendum, so well done Remoaners, you caused it!

Inthesnug · 29/06/2024 15:28

I genuinely can't believe that people who have brains (as demonstrated by the capacity to type a coherent post on the internet) could consider voting Reform.

I have the misfortune to know one of our local candidates (not through choice) but DO know that she is married to a violent racist (doesn't hide it, hideously racist Facebook and X posts, to the extent he was chucked out of Reform earlier this year after standing as a councillor), but of course standing in her maiden name to avoid the connection. There's other stuff which I won't put on a public forum around benefit fraud and other unpleasant activity, but suffice to say I was shocked to see her standing. Absolutely no moral compass and, thankfully, not in my constituency. But I imagine she is only standing because her violent, racist, homophonic husband can't.

crowgift · 29/06/2024 15:29

OP you should see which of the local candidates appeal to you.
Otherwise consider one of the tactical voting sites to see how your vote might make a difference to the result in your constituency?

GingerPirate · 29/06/2024 15:41

Reform.
I cannot vote because I'm not a British citizen,
also cannot wait till I'm able to go back to my own country.
What are your preferences?
How do you like the state of this country?

So who would you say counts as a "native" in the UK? What about in the US?

Always disrespect the natives at your peril. How do you think we ended up with UKIP and now Reform?

Dont care about US

GreyCarpet · 29/06/2024 15:43

Our local socialist candidate is looking pretty good. I agree with everything she says on social issues and, when I went to the public meeting last week, she knew what a woman was when I asked her.

It might be that or spoiling my ballot, I'm afraid.

Also, I am pretty surprised you are stuck between those three!

Why don’t you read up on what their manifestos say? They’re really very different.

I was going to say the same! They’re all so different. The only thing that unites them is thar none of them are a mainstream party.

They're so different is seems unbelievable that anyone would be comparing them.

Surely OP must know if they have far right views or not?!

GreyCarpet · 29/06/2024 15:48

I mean, I'm still undecided and they'll never get a majority so 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I'm not voting Tory (never have) and I'm not voting Labour (always have). And certainly not after listening to KS's responses to Jane's questions.

I'll probably spoil my ballot.

You haven't answered the question. In your view, who counts as a "native" of the UK?

(I only asked about the US because you brought it into the discussion earlier. I'm guessing you've decided that you don't care about it now because you've realised that the "indigenous" people of the US are not quite who you thought they were.)

Why can’t you go back? And why do you want to vote Reform? They don’t protect the interests of anyone but a small minority of British citizens - if you don’t have British citizenship, they won’t look out for you.

@Shortfatsuit you know fine well who they are, its very simple to understand so I shant spell it out. Ignore these people at your peril!

Ok I call satire.

Which one of you is this? Grin

I should've called it at the indigenous people of America thing, but this gobbledegook is spot on.

Actually, I really don't know who they are. At a guess, I suppose people with exclusively Celtic ancestry? The Welsh and the Cornish, maybe? But not totally sure how anyone would go about proving that, I certainly couldn't. In any case, I have lots of Anglo Saxon kicking about in my genes, so I guess I wouldn't count.

As to how we ended up with the likes of Reform and UKIP, I think it's down to poor education personally. People who have been failed by the school system to the extent that they have never been given the tools to think critically and analyse the information that is put in front of them. I presume that, for whatever reason, it suits the establishment to perpetuate that state of ignorance amongst a certain section of the population. It's a shame.
