It is all but a forgone conclusion that Labour will form our next government.
How are you expecting your life to change as a result?
what are you most looking forward to or dreading?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

To add it fills me with dread because it seems so disconnected from what I’m hearing - the people I would expect to vote Labour are drifting, mainly to the Greens, and the reluctant Tories are becoming less reluctant.

What am I expecting?

This seems unconnected to where we are on various things

More about the 90s than now

Energy bills and council tax going up
Having to buy an electric car and ASHP sooner

Same

It’s truer now than in 1997. Blair didn’t inherit the debt ridden mess the next government faces.

This statement fills me with dread.

Now I’m listening to commentary on Biden and how he’s helping his own loss I fear being a left-ish gov in a global situation mostly turning right

All their harder borders and us taking higher cost of green policies as we stand out will be painful and I can see it could be destabilising

LaPalmaLlama · 28/06/2024 20:54

Biden: Don’t worry guys- I’m not quitting.

Whole World: Fuuuuuuuuuuuck!

paolo2145 · 29/06/2024 01:27

I am taking nothing for granted. Like a doubting Thomas, until i see the exit poll actual showing that the Tories are out i will not believe it.

If that does happen then i will probably be smiling for a week at least!

I feel like I am in a minority of people actually dreading a huge labour majority. I would prefer a hung paliament so that they would be moderated (hopefully) by another party.

I think the labour party will bring in a lot of unpleasant policies and blame everything on the tories (wouldn't you in their shoes?)

That's why I'd like Lib Dem opposition.

The Tories have got no grounds to hold Labour to account as Labour spend the next five years methodically fixing everything the Tories left to crumble.

All Keir Starmer has to say is "You had 14 years to fix that. Instead you made it a) worse and b) somehow cost more than ever. So Pipe down."

I'd like to see what Labour are going to do to address the NHS pay rise that was due in April.

I expect you’ll find out shortly after 5 July.
