Rishi thinks we've turned a corner. Does it feel like we have

Rishi keeps saying we've turned a corner, but does it really feel like we have. Do people feel better off, or less worse off.

A case in point from my very small world view. I know a mum of a 4 month old and a 3 yo who has today lost her home. The rent was put up from £600 pcm to £875. She's had to move in with her parents until temporary accommodation becomes available.

Housing is just one of the things that absolutely do not feel lime they are improving and have only got much worse under 14 years of the conservatives. So how can we trust that the next 5 years will be any better.

He's talking the words he thinks we want to hear, but why not have delivered it before if that's what they could do?

I can’t get a medication I need at the moment and am waiting for GP to come up with an alternative and in a shed load of extra pain whilst I wait. Then had to help my Stepmum this afternoon come up with a plan for getting her medication that she struggled to get last time and been given half strength tablets she needs to double up on so at least she has it . She is worried about getting more so was thinking of taking half the dose which wouldn’t be good.

Never had these problems before with getting basic medications.

That is happening to many people thanks to the Labour and Tory voters who voted Brexit!!

But at least on this thread, they haven’t mentioned Labour getting in unelected by a back door coalition, which seems to be a favourite phrase on every thread.

Yet…!

We won't be getting anywhere near a corner until after July 5th, and even then it's going to take a while.

Rishi has no policies that would help your single mum. Not one. Asking them 'well, why haven't you done anything about that in the past 14 years' is the question everyone should be asking.

This^
and I would love to be different but it’s 100% this ^

I've mentioned this on another thread apologies, but on sky a French lady was being interviewed about macron. She said she is not surprised because of cost of living etc..
Our problems are the same across the eu.

I disagree. The pro Brexit gang blinkered even the many seasoned voters with BS.

People were fed up with EU immigration conveniently forgetting our lot went there to live as well - look at how people from England have brirhted certain parts of Sapin up

Then there were the so-called "we have to do this because of EU laws," IMO really got to Tory and Labour voters alike with the aid of the gutter press. This resulted in a massive majority for Brexit and now we are paying the price

The only positive out of Brexit was we got the jabs first as we had no partners to listen to or vote on decisions. Other than that, everything negative is thanks to Brexit

That is a fact the vast majorty of time for most of the world - look at oil andgas prices - up everywhere as were interest rates and food inflation. But hey, don't left facts get in the way of a Labour voter

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator I am a middle manager. I have no hope and no aspirations. My adult life has been lived under the Tories. I worry for my dd, I worry for my future. I frankly feel sad for people around me who are genuinely struggling. Labour haven't done that. That's all Tories. I'm not sure what is distinguished about your social commentary. But you aren't living on the same planet as many of us.

And for all those slating immigration. The fact is we have an aging population. Currently for every 3 working adults there is 1 pensioner. Very soon that will slip to one pensioner for every 2 working adults. The maths don't add up. We need to increase the number of working adults or decrease how much support is given to pensioners. It's really is as simple as that. And that is the issue that all politicians from all parties have to wrangle with. An aging population is incredibly expensive, and there are not enough economically productive adults to support them.

Sorry you feel like that. Though its easier said than done, you need to be more positive and get saving as money makes money. Consider promotion and or taking up a hobby that you can eventually earn a profit from. If you are not already living in and around London, consider moving here as this is were the prospects are

Your choice - good luck

I agree with most of what you posted other than the jabs

In my judgment - whosit the 14 or whatever number of EU leaders were fighting over who they shouldpay money to reserve jabs that not even been formed. England did not need another ccuntires approval, never mind 14 or so others. Therefore, we got supply of jabs before all of them

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator I have savings. I'm incredibly lucky. I've worked hard to accrue them. I volunteer locally. I'm a school Governor. All of those things are reasons WHY I feel so depressed and despondent about where we are as a society.

The poster doesn't seem to understand that Britain is not just England. I'm not sure how as they claim to live here so you'd think it would be obvious.

You may be right, I am referring to the jabs we bought in advance, got rights to jabs before they were developed. The EU leaders were infighting re how many to order, how much to pay and all of them had their vote and their views on this. Therefore we beat the EU to the jabs is what I am saying

TooBigForMyBoots · 10/06/2024 22:56

We cannot turn a corner while our PM is a monumentally stupid fuckwit.

That is happening to many people thanks to the Labour and Tory voters who voted Brexit!!

You mean after they listened to the lies told by the Tory government? After they were led by Cameron into the situation and then he did off to make millions, until he was knighted. Then Teresa May failed entirely to make anything decent of any of it or unite her party behind her as leader. The EU thought she was a weak fool. Then Johnson appeared with his trite phrases and outright lies including the one about giving £350 million a week to the NHS. Then Lettuce Liz caused fucking financial chaos in the couple of weeks she did anything at all. And now we have greasy pole dancer Sunak who will promise anything to get our attention and vote. 14 years of incompetent, weak, dishonest, incapable, greedy, Tory PMs and you blame Labour voters.
Blame greedy, selfish Tory voters by all means but don't blame Labour voters.

That's why we haven't been able to for 14 years.
