To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

Fiftypencepiece · 24/05/2024 13:02

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

The state school system already coped with the intake of refugees and other state school closures

School places have already been allocated for September so good luck with finding a place as those outstanding oversubscriped ones.

The council are legally obliged to offer every child a school place so it looks like those over sized classes are just about to get even bigger! Cold lunches, sen provision stretched to the limit and teachers over loaded - what a fantastically terrible policy!

Notonthestairs · 28/05/2024 18:03

Oh no. Cold lunches.

DuncinToffee · 28/05/2024 18:06

There will be places available in schools, just not the popular ones.

And why cold lunches?

There’s always spaces at unpopular schools. The rich kids can go there.

It won’t swell the classes of the popular schools, they’re already full.

I will have to feed the ponies value hay. Will Have to send the children to a cheap day school, something pebbledash no doubt. God not a Sarf of the river school. Will need to cancel all my subscriptions to galleries, members clubs and pony school. I suppose I could slum it in the Ned(oh the ignominy) I believe it’s akin to a high street chain. Yes,govt under labour will be ghastly

Don’t worry about the ponies - you’ll have to eat them when collective agriculture fails under Labour.

Pretty sure it will be the same under Labour - just more taxes

MonkeyTennis34 · 29/05/2024 08:01

They are trying to improve state schools by taxing the wealthy.

This. I applaud them too 👏🏻

It will when the state system is flooded with thousands of unfunded children! It won’t be quite as fun then

Don't be silly. Anyone who sends their children to an independent and doesn’t allow for increases in annual tuition/boarding/extra-curricular activities then finds themselves unable to meet the new fees has only their lack of forward planning to blame.

Our kids were at independents. Fees went up significantly each year. Increases should be anticipated and factored in.

I'm sure that if parents stop buying Latte's and Avocado on T, the savings will more than compensate.

But if they really do have to move to the scum, sorry state sector, then all those go-getting banker types, will very quickly drive up standards.

Is there going to be anyone Conservative to vote for ? So many are stepping down and less than 6 weeks to find replacements !

Rats deserting a sinking ship. Shows their dedication and commitment though. Abandons their constituents rather than see it out. Selfish. Which is the whole underpinning principle behind Conservative policy.

No they are trying to ruin state schools by forcibly closing thousands of functioning private schools. Not cool, or clever.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/labour-lead-slashed-to-just-12-points/

tell you what's not clever.. your post.

What a load of twaddle. nobody is going to close private schools because of this. people are spending thousands a month for child care, they can also pay the same for school. not all, perhaps, but many.

There are so many people who have also much money they don't know what to do with it. prices go up, they pay more. They still have plenty for 4/5 holidays a year, new car, big handbags and big lips and cheekbone injections. Stop the hyperbole, THINK FFS! something needs to change. The contempt we have all been treated to over the last few years is beyond shocking. We're all punch drunk if we think that this shower needs voting in again.

Don't get me wrong, there is a real threat to our household income, if/when government changes from Blue to Red, but we'll weather it. But the less advantaged in our society can't take any more. I wept last time when I had to vote for Cameron because i will never forget what he tried to do to people like me at that time, single parent, scraping by. At least this time, there isn't Corbin in the mix. He was (still is) a lunatic. My situation may have changed, but i won't ever forgive this bunch of tossers for the mess they have made, and the piss they have taken and they don't even care to hide it. Corrupt fuckers the lot of them.

I’m considering putting my local state school on notice about the potential deluge. Aside from the general impact, if they increase class sizes to 75-100 per class, all those polyester uniforms in one place might pose a significant fire hazard.

😂imagine the STATIC

Thats now out of date, Sky's latest YouGov poll puts Lab 27pts in front.

Nah, they are all saying something different- either way after Tuesday we can expect to see more people lose faith in Labour. Starmer is a terrible communicator with the personality of a block of wood. I’m expecting a slim conservative win for the first time ever since this whole thing began.

Really worth looking at who runs the polling company that is alone in stating a 12 point lead for Labour:

They use an interesting methodology too. Another poster on another thread posted about it.

That's a great joke!

I think @Polishedshoesalways is a secret Labour supporter, here to make sure we don't get complacent.

Polls are usually wrong regardless but I can sense a changing tide, and feel very confident Labour will not win ( even without the kick in the bollocks Rayner is giving them)

If the polls are usually wrong, why were you banging on about Labour being in trouble because the polls are "narrowing" on another thread? Make your mind up!

Because the tide is turning darlings 🥳🥳🎉🎉
