I need a new phone as mine is old and knackered with a cracked screen
I make some calls and text but that's about it

I could just get a new Nokia but will I regret not getting an iphone (esp as DH has just got one)

All thoughts welcomed

Get an iphone i love mine! I couldn't be happy with another phone AND mumsnet are bringing out an app. After 18months on the contract you can switch to simplicity tariff and it'll cost you £25 a month.

Don't even think of getting a Crackberry

What's not to love?

EldonAve · 10/04/2010 19:15

No way I'm getting a crackberry

I guess the cost is the main downside
It's a 24 mth contract and it'll cost an extra £400 overall!

and lots of cool things for kids - ds loves monkeys preschool lunchbox and elmos monster maker

MerlinsBeard · 10/04/2010 20:04

DH swapping his as soon as he can. Lots of sparkles tha you can add to what he calls a very poor product.

swapping to HTC as soon as his contract expires. (had it since new)

iphone iphone iphone...love it love it love it....you will NEVER look back..

foxinsocks · 10/04/2010 20:06

I wonder if it's worth waiting till the new ones come out? is it going to be in the summer?

I don't have one (nor does dh) but I'm thinking of getting one for him for his birthday but I'm not sure if the newer generation one might be better.

Have heard the current ones don't have brilliant battery life?

EldonAve · 10/04/2010 20:36

mumofmonsters - what is HTC?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 10/04/2010 20:58

HTC is a brand of phone. Dh has his eye on this one (I think its that one)

SoupDragon · 10/04/2010 21:01

You can text another iPhone user free of charge

It is so much more than a phone.

MerlinsBeard · 10/04/2010 21:09

can you?

It always cost DH to text his brother on another iphone

SoupDragon · 10/04/2010 21:12

You need to buy an app called "WhatsApp", as does the other iPhone user(s). It's fabulous - you can send photos etc free. A friend and I have so much childish fun with it

Needanewname · 10/04/2010 21:13

Dh has the HTC and to say he loves it would be an understatement, he thinks I should get one too but am still going for an iPhone - they just look and feel so lovely but I know this makes me very sad!!!!!

SoupyD - I thought most of the packages with the iPhone was unlimited texting anyway. Oh well, free texta or not, I still want one!

Needanewname · 10/04/2010 21:13

Sorry SoupD, not sure where that y came from!

SoupDragon · 10/04/2010 21:14

My)2 contract has a text limit on it. No idea what and I never used to reach it anyway. The WhatsApp thingy has changed the way I chat to my iPhone friend - often a picture speaks 1000 words

nannyj · 10/04/2010 21:16

It's free to phone another iphone. I love mine

SoupDragon · 10/04/2010 21:17

Other things I love - ordering Ocado whilst waiting to pick up from school, keeping a running shopping basket with Ocado rather than relying on scribbles on the noticeboard, internet in my pocket, barcode scanning to check online prices of stuff in shops, calendar reminders, emails, games...

MerlinsBeard · 10/04/2010 21:19

soupy - have you seen the tesco clubcard app? (I have it on ipod touch)

nannyj · 10/04/2010 21:25

I've got the clubcard one! Never go to tesco though , the lightsaber one, iquarium, and a to do list.....it's a whole new world.

SoupDragon · 10/04/2010 21:25

Yes, but it doesn't work according to my friend and the cashiers in the local store. Rather hit and miss I hear.
