I don't know what the ipad 3 will do. I don't know how it will affect my life. I don't know what it costs or whether it's value for money or even what it looks like.

I just know I am definitely going to get one.

I'm a total sucker, aren't I?

Looks like you won't have long to wait

LemonDifficult · 28/02/2012 20:09

Dead Exciting.

I've no idea why this has fired my imagination so much. I'm not really a techie-type but the ipad 3 does sound the business.

Well I would expect it to be around the same price as the current iPad 2. Apple can't really afford to up their prices anymore as they're already facing a lot of competition from the Android market.

There's been loads of rumours and even alleged screenshots of the new display which isn't quite retina (iphone 4) standards but near as dammit for most people. Some are claiming as a result it will be slightly thicker than the ipad2 but we'll wait and see on that.

Otherwise I'd expect either the same CPU as the 4S or a small bump in horsepower. I'm predicting the same camera as currently in the iphone 4S along with Siri baked into the operating system.

As for how it will affect your life, probably not much other than less money in the bank and a smile on your face when using it.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/02/2012 12:38

I've got an ipad2. Unless this ipad has better connectivity, so a usb port I don't think I'll be interested in upgrading.

bagpuss · 29/02/2012 12:45

Are you my dh, op? He is also talking of buying one (we both have original iPads) and can't wait for the announcement. I'm reserving judgement until I see it. I was going to have an iPad 2 originally, but decided on the one I have because apple dropped the price once the new one was launched. It still makes me smile just as much and I'm not quite as poor as I might have been.

TinyPants · 29/02/2012 12:49

Another Apple fanboy in this house!

DH has been impatiently waiting since last year for news on the new one.

LemonDifficult · 29/02/2012 17:18

What I'm amazed at is how Apple have somehow through mysterious evil? methods managed to work up such anticipation. It's strange.

Anyone else getting excited now? Hours to go...

OP posts:
LemonDifficult · 07/03/2012 18:19

No one else following the launch?

OP posts:
RustyBear · 07/03/2012 18:27

Yes, I am!

retina display....

LemonDifficult · 07/03/2012 18:43

March 16th! I think I might queue

Wilts · 07/03/2012 18:46

Dh has been glued to the pc for the last 40 mins watching the launch. He sold his ipad2 last week ready to purchase the new one. I am sure Apple have some sort of strange hold on him.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 07/03/2012 18:47

Following it too. I 'spect uk launch will be after that.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 07/03/2012 19:14

maybe I'm wrong - perhaps it will be the 16th here too.

LemonDifficult · 07/03/2012 19:32

It's Up!

OP posts:
ohyouBadBadkitten · 07/03/2012 19:41

site has locked up for me. I have no idea why I'm so interested - I'm still dithering as I do have my netbook (which I've had for 3 years)

ohyouBadBadkitten · 07/03/2012 19:42

dh says it might be 4 years old. That's quite old isnt it

TheCunningStunt · 07/03/2012 19:45

Hhmm it's fatter and heavier than iPad two...and if they are discontinuing the 64gb iPad 2, then mine will be a rarityWink. If you want a slightly better camera and graphics I guess it's worth getting excited over. To me it's a bit like the iPhone 3GS. A bit of a non event. It's worth holding for the 4 next year(plus I can justify it then)Grin

RustyBear · 07/03/2012 19:51

I'll be getting one, as mine is the original - I seem to be falling into a pattern of every other Apple device - got the 3G iPhone, skipped the 3GS, got the 4, skipped the 4S, iPad 1 and 3 (or whatever they are calling it - apparently they only referred to it as 'the new iPad')

LemonDifficult · 07/03/2012 19:52

Nah, I've held out long enough - I've been excited about this since Christmas - just sold my buggy and other stuff for it. Crazy, really.

OP posts:
TheCunningStunt · 07/03/2012 19:53

I would get it if I had the iPad 1 too. But I have a six month old 64gb iPad 2 that's fab, so it's not sparkly enough to make me lust after it. And I have my eye on a MacBook air.......Blush

LemonDifficult · 07/03/2012 19:58

You are right, of course. And I'll remember this thread when the next ipad gets launched but for now I'm sold.

OP posts:
GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/03/2012 20:01

Same as Cunning. I have a 6 month old 64GB iPad 2 that my dad swapped me for my original iPad (he's a luddite). There's nothing on the new iPad that excites me that much. Obviously if he wants to swap again... :)

ohyouBadBadkitten · 07/03/2012 22:26

apple are still updating their store.

Just say I was interested - what would be the best way to buy one?

JasperJohns · 07/03/2012 22:28

I have just today bought an iPad 2, so I do NOT want to hear about imminent arrival of no3! Grin
