Have your peonies sprouted yet?

Mine seem to have not
They should be up by now, right? This would be their 3rd year, 3 plants. Nada.

I look almost every day and I don't see them!

This is mine just now. Getting ready to unfurl. No idea what variety it is, we inherited it when we bought the house 20 years ago and it flowers reliably every year.

So lovely to see all the peonies in various stages unfurl! Loving going out every morning with an espresso to inspect my peonies and check on the ants. I'm wondering what variety I have because they are stubbornly closed and we are south of England.

Out of interest what do others plant with theirs? I have wild geranium, black eyed susans and something else which I can't remember and can't identify until it flowers.

I went to The Chelsea Flower Show today. Distinct lack of peonies. Very disappointed!

I found a half price peony (white) on the reduced bench at B and Q this pm. I only went in to replace my hanging basket baskets but of course had to check out the bargain corner…..🙂I will be patient and loving and nurture it carefully.

My one bud on 'Penny the Peony' has opened and is a beauty.

I have discussed my disappointment with the lack of floral offerings with my other peonies and requested they do better next year!

Penny is a stunner! Maybe the others will take her lead and show themselves next year.

My lovely yellow peony flowered a scrumptious single flower and then I hit it with the watering can and all the petals fell off. It was lovely though!

Accidentally I hasten to add!

Since my bargain peony will probably not flower for another couple of years I treated myself to a bunch. They smell amazing.

I picked up a yellow sticker bunch yesterday in Tesco for £1.20 with a couple still just about to burst out of bud.

Mine are heading towards ‘sunset’ now but I’ve got another wave of (smaller) blooms waiting to happen.

Some new ones today

Mine are opening! I'll get some photos tomorrow. The flowers are not quite as I expected them. I felt a teensy bit disappointed at first, but I think they will be beautiful all the same.

Mine are beautiful this year, last year I only had one bud!

I have several buds waiting to bloom, much better than last year. We’re in the north east so alway a bit later.

I have a few peonies we inherited with the house but this one is by far the biggest/best/most reliable. Just flowered this week. Also discovered a beautiful red one which I haven't seen flower before.

I remember seeing wild peonies in the hills in southern Portugal. Huge red flowers with a bunch of yellow stamens, groups of several plants in the shade of trees. One of the advantages of holidaying in Feb/Mar
