To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

Exciting day today - I'm making a raised bed at the end of the garden, largely to improve growing conditions (it's very overhung by a neighbour's tree). First though I need to dig out everything which is taking far longer than I thought (it's not a huge space). Anyway, a long winded way of saying I'm enjoying a day outside and have spotted a few flashes of colour. The final one is from a raised bed in the front, which is south facing and enjoying our warmer than usual November.

And of course the gorgeous Japanese anemones which have finally recovered from being battered by the drought.

Look's back!🤬
They ate the entire bit out of the middle...the stalk is completely empty!

Sweetpea1532 · 14/11/2022 23:56

' Look who's back!' * (So upset I can't even manage to write a correct sentence) 🙄

AnneKipankitoo · 15/11/2022 07:10

Wow … @Sweetpea1532 . Tidy though.

WobblyLondoner · 15/11/2022 07:41

Oh no!!!! Bastards! What on earth did that?

Sweetpea1532 · 15/11/2022 16:52

@AnneKipankitoo and@WobblyLondoner
It's those sneaky ground squirrels up to their old tricks!!!! They tunnel under ground, run into the roots and have a party all the way up the stalk until the pointy bit falls over...kinda reminds me of the squirrel version of hearts of palm...as AK used to say, 'SPs has the best eats in town'.
Yes, AK I can just imagine their tiny little teeth chomping away in a neat little circle pattern 🤬. They have ruined thousands of dollars of them...( of course I didn't pay that much as I grew them from babies about 15 years ...but if I had bought them at the size they were when decimated)
Enough about my garden trials and tribulations...
I'm so happy to see ya'll've been having a warm November so ya'll can enjoy your gardens and share your lovely pictures! Thanks!
Wobbly, whatever happened to your little front area that was hit by thieves?
Does it ever freeze in London? I've only visited during November and other than a tad of rain, the weather was lovely🙂

Sweetpea1532 · 15/11/2022 16:53

@AnneKipankitoo ...I keep laughing at your comment...'tidy though'! 😂

AnneKipankitoo · 15/11/2022 17:04

Thanks SP. I do not say much but I make it count .

OP posts:
WobblyLondoner · 16/11/2022 07:49

Thanks SP, that is mind blowing. I'm no fan of the squirrels we get (especially when they are decapitating my tulips) but had no idea there were ones that burrowed Shock

Touched you remember my front garden woes! The new planter has settled down now but, although the planting is dense enough to put the foxes off, I still lose the occasional plant or flower to a passer by. Most recently it was a gorgeous dark pink nerine - it had been flowering for about three weeks and I did think a few times that it was too near the front and so vulnerable to being nicked - and then one morning it was gone. But the bulb is still there and it clearly loved the site so I'll dig it up and plant it somewhere further back.

The planter itself is fantastic - it's made of steel and so gets very hot. Some plants thrive, others quite quickly turn up their heels and die! This picture shows a couple of the plants that are very happy indeed!

@WobblyLondoner The nerve of some people! 'Just help yourself, why don't ya?'! 😠 at least they didn't pull the flower up blub and all, I suppose.
Yes, the plants you have in the planter do look very healthy...what are those pink ones? They look like little pink butterflies 🙂

@AnneKipankitoo you do have a way with words!Wink

Sweetpea1532 · 17/11/2022 02:40

I just had to share this photo of the stalk of my agave as I just couldn't get over how tidy the squirrel actually was, as @AnneKipankitoo as pointed ...he didn't miss one bit.
