To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

Yes, but not strong, you have to lean in to smell it.

I have some dendrobium kingiana about to bloom too, and will take pics as soon as. These have a stronger frabngrance.

Can any one help ?
2 identical pots filled with ivy and flowers.
Flowers end with the season
Ivy in pot one goes brown and starts to die.
As ivy is indestructible I was concerned.
Threw away dead ivy from pot 1.
But added some shop brought , flowering cyclamen ti each pot.
Watered - yet the cyclamen in pot 1 drooped.
Pot 2 still perky with healthy green ivy
I have now dug up the poorly cyclamen and replanted in the garden hoping to nurse it back ti health.

It's as if pot has been poison ???
Can't see any slugs.
But what could kill ivy ?

Did you change all the compost?

Here are three pots of my dendrobium speciosum, AKA rock lilies in bloom. Never been better. For scale, the pots are huge and need a trolley to move them.
I've discovered that what they need is shade in summer and be put in the sun on the first day of autumn, no other care bar occasional watering needed.

These are amazing - am off to google them as I've not gone across them before.

@WobblyLondoner
It is possible that it was 'different' compost.
A friend has suggested insect infestation - maybe ants ??

I was wondering about wine weevils - but that can't be it if you changed the compost.

WobblyLondoner · 14/10/2022 20:25

Vine weevils!! Mind boggles at wine ones.

WobblyLondoner · 14/10/2022 20:26

A bit of autumn colour! It really is that colour too, quite astonishing.

@WobblyLondoner.. absolutely beautiful 😍 I love Acers. I have one in a pot which started off in the ground but didn't grow at all, so I moved it to a large pot filled with ericaceous compost and it started growing straight away. I'll post a pic when it's daylight!

applecatchers36 · 15/10/2022 07:56

Fabulous Acer WobblyLondoner almost glows!

I had two in pots - this one and another which I then planted out in the garden. It was very unhappy quite quickly - I think a mix of wrong soil (London clay) and too much sun. Eventually I had to dig it up.

So I'm a big fan of acers in pots - much more flexible.

AnneKipankitoo · 15/10/2022 11:48

We had an acer that died too

Fabulous autumn colours in all those pics. It's being spring here in Melbourne, my bird's nest fern is putting out new leaves. Again, it's a whopper.

@WobblyLondoner - wow, that is stunning. What a glorious display of colour.

I have an acer in my garden (from previous owners) and it’s a manky, boring brown colour. I keep trying to kill it off, but it keeps growing back!
