To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

We have so much wildlife that I do a lot of my gardening on the deck. The planters are self watering. I did get some nice flowers on my cactus in the front garden in June.

Thanks, Anne. The garden has done well this year. I'll check my laptop at home to see if I have any other interesting pictures. By the way, I'm in New York.

MissConductUS · 09/08/2022 22:57

The only other garden photos I found worth sharing were these of roses I have in the front garden. I started them in 2003 from cuttings from my mum's garden, and they have really thrived. It's a good location for them.

Is that your hibiscus in flower florentina?

BooseysMom · 19/08/2022 11:51

A bumper harvest of cherry toms (Siderno).. never had so many ripen at once. One good thing about the hot sunny weather!

They look tasty

@AnneKipankitoo thanks! They are sweet tasting. The seeds were from DT Brown catalogue.

Sweetpea1532 · 21/08/2022 17:39

@BooseysMom
Those look delicious...and I'm very impressed how you managed to grow them from seed...I've NEVER been able to grow anything from seed on purpose...if something does come up from a seed it's a volunteer...right now I have an avocado tree that's about 1 foot tall growing from a seed that I buried in with my lemon tree...I forgot about it and thought it was a weed...boy was I surprised when I dug it up and the 'weed' was attached to an avocado seed.

BooseysMom · 23/08/2022 21:45

@Sweetpea1532 Ah thanks! I usually put them on a window sill but now we've got a mini greenhouse they're in there. I did make the mistake of not supporting them properly but I'm astonished how well they've done!

That's brilliant about your avocado tree! We tried to get an avocado seed to sprout roots suspended over water with cocktail sticks but it never really worked. How long did it take to get yours to grow?

Sweetpea1532 · 24/08/2022 12:58

Hi@BooseysMom ,
I tried the cocktail sticks also...didn't work at the Sweetpea household either.
I think this seed had been put into my vermi-culture bin( red wiggler worms that produce black liquid gold fertilizer) and within a couple weeks it had cracked open with a sprout coming out of it...I wasn't even trying to have it do that so I was surprised. I think I then buried it in the pot plant with my plumeria that i was trying to grow...I literally (yes, literally) forgot about it...one day I noticed some large green leaves sprouting out of the soil next to my plumeria...i honestly had no idea what it was. We have lots of invasive plants here so I decided to remove it so my plumeria could grow unencumbered...lo and behold it was that avocado seed that was split open a bit with a large sprout with leaves so I gave it it's own pot and it's doing fantastic..we might actually get some avocados in 2 years time. I've found that the avo seeds sprout very quickly in the worm bin, I suppose they do the same if planted . I honestly don't have any idea how long it's been growing now, but the initial sprouting was pretty quick...it's worth a try, though. I'm not at home right now, but my DH has saved me 5 avo seeds so I can purposely try to grow them.. I will keep you posted, ok?

Hi just popping on to show off a few of the garden ornaments I've found this year in our local reuse shop at the dump!

I love adding them in amongst the plants.

AnneKipankitoo · 29/08/2022 13:21

Lovely @Girliefriendlikespuppies

Thanks here's a few more...

I always seem to pick up something at the reuse shop and find a little home for it!

They are a delight @Girliefriendlikespuppies

I know that quite a lot of people grow this one now, but it's the first time in 5 years that it's flowered in my garden! Hedychium gardenerianum.

Those little sprites are adorable @Girliefriendlikespuppies...you have quite the knack for setting them out in the perfect spot. I'm a bit envious...I love rooting around in junk that someone else has pitched outGrin...one man's trash and all that.

@everywhichway , that's lovely! I didn't know you like to garden...looks as if you're really good at itSmile

Thanks SP! That was one of this year's successes - I always have failures too!

AnneKipankitoo · 30/08/2022 07:22

That’s very striking @everywhichway .
