@Sweetpea1532 your black widow post is the first thing I have read and I cannot scroll further till I express my sheer horror ShockShockShock!!! I would run for the hills and hide in them. I'm just getting over my arachnophobia of nonvenomous spiders but it lives strong toward venomous ones. That picture has me shuddering!! But the web is really cool. And I must ask.. what did you do with the eggs? Let them be?

notsogreenthumb · 16/07/2021 21:35

@TheAwfuITruth that wasp looks like two of those sticky gems stuck together. Never seen anything like it

notsogreenthumb · 16/07/2021 21:36

Slightly different flower today but why not. One of my courgette flowers and it is ginormous. The largest flower I've ever seen. My hostas have bloomed too and one dahlia sleepily opens one eye (petal). Will post tomorrow hopefully

@notsogreenthumb
Wow, that courgette flower is so pretty...are we all invited to a courgette party at yours in a few weeks?

beautyisfoundwithin · 17/07/2021 08:13

Thanks for your concern @Sweetpea1532 😊 actually I am in Germany - just right next to the border with Austria. I actually live on a mountain so I'm not worried about my house but we do have torrential rain and there's a chance my town could flood as it's down in the valley with a big river running right through it 😬 Fingers crossed because it's so terrible what is happening in other parts of Germany 😔

On the other hand I'm not very happy with you for that photo!!! I'll be having nightmares about spiders tonight now!! 😱

I was thinking the same about @AnneKipanki's garden, very inviting! It must be lovely to sit and relax out there.

No photos from me, my garden is looking very,very sad from all this rain. Plus it's so dark today. Really terrible weather.

AnneKipanki · 17/07/2021 10:36

Thanks very much @beautyisfoundwithin .
I sat in the garden yesterday to have tea , coffee, and a read.
I also did some Mumsnet.

I must say you're far braver than I @Sweetpea1532. I can't believe you sometimes find eggs on furniture and things. My worst nightmare. As a child I lived by the woods and we'd have spiders the size of my palm invading our house all summer, it's left me slightly scarred 😂. I was also bitten once and had my leg treble in size and turn a deep purple from shin to knee - it was not pretty and the doctor refused to believe that a spider caused it. He did kindly give me the required medicines though. (The nurse however told me her son had experienced the same bite that week and he also said it was a spider. She believed me )

@Sweetpea1532 if any of these courgettes deign to grow then of course you are more than welcome to a courgette party Grin. I've grown a lot this year but the up and down weather has slowed everything down. Only my tomatoes are behaving

Hello everyone! @LemonViolet that is a gorgeous colour combustion, I love it. I'm planning a new planting area at the moment in my front garden and am agonising over pink/purple/blue combinations. Yours is an inspiration!

@Sweetpea1532 did you post some scary photos and then take them down? Am intrigued!

So awful watching the news about Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Terrifying to see the power of water like that.

This is my photo of the day. Love love love dahlias! They are peeking though a lime green continus - quite the clash!

AnneKipanki · 17/07/2021 19:28

@WobblyLondoner , the photos have not appeared yet.

Only just realised @Sweetpea1532 has taken the photos down, so sorry if my message came across the wrong way @Sweetpea1532. I was only joking! I mean I am terrified of spiders, but I wasn't truly upset with you for posting, the information you shared was really interesting (as always).

LemonViolet · 17/07/2021 19:48

At the moment I don’t think you can go wrong just mashing different purples together, that’s my approach to this area so far! I really rate the Verbena Santos Purple though, it’s an almost luminescent violet and has really lifted everything, I’ve dotted it all along the border. Here it is again next to a Callicarpa bodinieri Profusion and some baby Heuchera Forever Purple that have some growing to do!

LemonViolet · 17/07/2021 19:49

Helps if I add the photo

Hello Everyone
I do apologise for my unnecessary photo... @beautyisfoundwithin of course I took your post as a light commentHmmGrinWink
It did get me thinking about how the photo had absolutely nothing to do with AKs lovely thread and could be traumatising to not only present MN friends but also anyone in the future who comes on to view lovely colour and then sees the photo instead..and they might have it seared into their visual memory instead of the gorgeous scenery and flowers that have been posted
@WobblyLondoner...sorry I've gotten up your intrigue feelers! P M for further info if still intrigued...Nothing exciting at ALLto see here ..just SWEET sticking her foot in it once again! @AnneKipanki..I think I shall blame my faux paus on mean ole Nellie!Grin
I have to admit it could look intriguing to see that a poster has deleted so many posts in a row😂 but I just reported everything I posted about the subject and the lovely ladies at MNHQ bent over backwards to appease me...we are so fortunate to have them watching our backs on this worldwide forum...I've always gotten an immediate response to any issues I've had...they are so pleasant and funny.YAY, MNHQ!WineCakeFlowers

I'll dig up a photo so this post won't be a total waste for ya'll! There! Bouquets for yall! And they don't even need any water Grin

@WobblyLondoner
I wasn't aware you had a front garden also...I can't wait to see your efforts since your back garden is such a serene oasisFlowers

Sweetpea1532 · 17/07/2021 20:01

@beautyisfoundwithin
Thanks for your kind words about my sharing...I'm a bit like Sheldon on the big bang theory...random factoids intrigue me and I love to share although I'm learning that not everyone cares to have their brain clogged with trivial bits of info...maybe I should audition for "JEOPARDY " and get some actual use from them

beautyisfoundwithin · 17/07/2021 20:13

I really am so sorry if I upset you @Sweetpea1532, that wasn't my intention. I know it's sometimes tricky to gauge the tone of comments when they're written down. I promise you didn't stick your foot in it! By the way, Sheldon is totally my favourite character from The Big Bang Theory!

Sweetpea1532 · 17/07/2021 21:06

@beautyisfoundwithin
No worries..I like to laugh and ALWAYS think people are being funny instead of annoyed at me...probably annoys them more...but I'm so much like Sheldon it just rolls on by me....we've posted back and forth over the last year that I think I know your heart a bit❤

beautyisfoundwithin · 17/07/2021 21:16

I'm glad to hear that, I was definitely trying to be funny and not annoyed at you. I always look forward to your posts and have so enjoyed speaking with you on this thread ❤️

beautyisfoundwithin · 17/07/2021 21:17

Oops, just realised I didn't tag you in that last post @Sweetpea1532!

notsogreenthumb · 17/07/2021 21:22

Ohh you took it down @Sweetpea1532. Thats so thoughtful of you and kind. I must admit I was joking too about being too terrified to scroll down again. It really was a creepy looking thing but also so intriguing to see it's egg sac and the zigzag web.

WobblyLondoner · 17/07/2021 22:09

Not sure why my picture didn't post, is there a daily limit?

Sweetpea1532 · 17/07/2021 22:15

❤❤❤thank you! It's my all time favourite thread!
