Lovely hydrangeas! I don't tend to see that colour here, only dark blue or pink but not in between @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet

Sunshine finally here and everything looking well.

@Sweetpea1532 not sure if you r come across them before but the "melons" are small grape sized more like cucumbers with a lime twist

I can't seem to add any new photos but loving the others shared!

Light blue, dark blue, lavender, dark purple, pink..I'm in hydrangea heaven!
@Containergardener..no, I've never seen your little melons before....I've learnt something new today...Grin they sound very interesting
@SuziLikeSuziQ I love your little cherry tree...so many delicious looking cherries...what is the little purpley blue flower?
@applecatchers36 your dahlia does not look real...it's perfect! And a lovely rose..is that jasmine growing in the background?

LemonViolet · 18/07/2021 04:08

Ooh that’s a really lovely hydrangea bettyfloormop what variety is it?

I’m not as into the current vogue for hydrangeas as most people seem to be, mainly because I am very fussy about pink and really don’t like any pale/baby pinks at all and much prefer stronger/brighter colours full stop. But that deep blue and violet is gorgeous. I know it’s a pH/soil issue…..I wonder if you can keep blue hydrangeas blue with the right mix in a container and the right specialist feed?

SuziLikeSuziQ · 18/07/2021 08:14

@Sweetpea1532 They're borage. Great for pollinators!

AnneKipanki · 18/07/2021 08:42

I like hydrangeas too . I do not have one .

Fabulous, vivid blue @bettyfloormop

This is my favourite (in a pot). Leaves are looking a bit crispy. It needs so.much.water

Try again with a new days allowance - dahlias ahoy!

WobblyLondoner · 18/07/2021 08:53

Argh! Sorry for clogging up the thread with my non-postings!

AnneKipanki · 18/07/2021 09:08

Beautiful colour @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet.
If you are on the app @WobblyLondoner , it is sometimes unpredictable.
Photos? Maybes yes , maybes no .🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you! I'm sure it was more pinkish last year, but spread some of our home made compost on it this year, so maybe it's altered the PH balance?

Not sure what variety it is actually. I'm a bit hopeless at flower names!

Also have this pretty white variety in a pot.

That’s so frustrating @WobblyLondoner I would love to see your Dahlias.
Is it too early for Echinaceas? I haven’t seen any. Mine were absolutely devoured when they had grown through the ground in late spring Sad

Our wildflowers. I can never keep the grass or the weeds from winning, but the bees still love them

Lovely @applecatchers36! What a delicate Dahlia.

Absolutely gorgeous Hydrangea @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet. I've been anticipating them as I remembered that you're a big fan and that last year yours were spectacular! I also adore them but sadly have had no luck at all trying to grow them. Stunning wildflowers too.

I'm loving your front garden Hydrangeas too @bettyfloormop!

LemonViolet · 18/07/2021 17:38

I have echinacea Green Jewel in the purple border, as a contrast but it’s not flowering yet. I bought tiny plug plants off eBay about 3 months ago, grew them on and then planted them maybe 6 weeks ago….they’re getting there with buds but no flowers yet and are still pretty small, but they are babies.

beautyisfoundwithin · 18/07/2021 17:44

I don't have any new pictures, the rain is still torrential here and although my house is fine as we're up high, our town has been hit pretty badly by the flooding now 😔

Sweetpea1532 · 18/07/2021 17:49

@beautyisfoundwithin
I am thankful that you and yours are okay...so sorry to hear about your town, though...praying for you all!

WobblyLondoner · 18/07/2021 18:46

Some lovely hydrangeas here - that blue /purple one is amazing @bettyfloormop.

Finally, this is my dahlia!!

My mention of a front garden earlier @Sweetpea1532 - it's an odd one, a planting area c 4m by 80cm above a steel bike/bin unit, only 20cm deep in terms of soil. In full sun - so on a day like today it is ludicrously hot! Have never had a sunny area to think about and am swimming in lists of plants etc. It does have irrigation so I don't have to worry about that!
