A less lovely photo - flipping snails are not only context with munching their way through my hosta - now they are eating persicaria (which I didn't know they liked). Gar!!

Lovely dahlia @applecatchers36 - think mine are a few days away.

@AnneKipanki
Sounds like a little caterpillar, maybe?
@WobblyLondoner those snails were very hungry...as AK used to say about my squirrels....WOBBLY 'S --best restaurant in town

@bettyfloormop

I love your patio garden! Those hydrangeas are mesmerising..I love the colours! You'll find that purples and pinks and blues are favourites on this thread. Thanks for postingFlowers

@beautyisfoundwithin
I was looking at the colour thread from last year...your sweetpeas were amazing in the photos as were all the photos of your gardens ...are the sweetpeas as prolific this year? You were also starting a new area in the middle of your lawn with lots of pots...were you able to add more to the area as you'd planned?
@AnneKipanki you had so many beautiful troughs last year on that thread. Did any of the plants come back? I had a big laugh when you showed us a photo of what you called "a contraption "!

It may be too early in the season for these all to be out yet...I think it was from the middle of July to August

AnneKipanki · 11/07/2021 00:24

I do have some troughs.
I will photograph them soon .

@AnneKipanki
Looking forward to your photos...last year I think you had some impatiens and begonias Flowers

bettyfloormop · 11/07/2021 08:44

Thank you @Sweetpea1532 Smile

The bees have been loving the poppies in the front too ❤️

Also a pic of my wisteria ( donated by a neighbour who didn't have a decent spot for it to thrive) which seems to be happy growing up the outside of our house, and my beautiful DA roses in the back garden with the most heavenly scent ❤️

It is begonias and impatiens again.

@AnneKipanki Something similar happens to my Dahlia every year and I discovered it's earwigs. Not sure if yours could be earwigs too?

Gorgeous @bettyfloormop! The colours of those Hydrangeas 😍

Thanks for asking @Sweetpea1532 😊 My Sweet Peas are actually even more prolific than last year! No idea why. I'm cutting pretty decent sized bunches for vases twice a week at the moment! I just didn't want to bore everyone on the thread posting photos of Sweet Peas over and over! 😆

And the area in the middle is coming along nicely. I've added a little pond to it too which I'm pretty pleased with. I was planning on taking photos to share, just waiting for some blooms to come out. So watch this space! 😉

I thought I'd try some different Nasturtiums this year, so I ordered some seeds called Cherry Rose and some called Purple Emperor. Photo attached is Cherry Rose (still waiting on the purple one to flower).

I will look that up .

My dahlia got eaten too, after I was so pleased it survived winter in a bag of shredded paper insulation in my cold shed! It's trying its best to come back but I'm not sure there's much hope for it.

Photo of my sweet peas.

Lovely @FeltTipPenny & @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet!

Love that contrast between the flowers and the foliage on those Begonias @AnneKipanki. Your Impatiens are much healthier looking than mine too.

Beautiful Foxgloves @bettyfloormop, that first one is absolutely stunning!

We can NEVER see too many SP photos! Post away, Girlfriend!
Those different nasturtiums are so pretty..I'm not a big fan of the orange ones...they grow wild around here so I get kind of tired of them. Looking forward to your pond photos, too. Boy you are a very ambitious gardener! How are our peas coming along?Wink
Thanks for the earwig tip!!! Something has shredded the leaves of my one bulb that survived out of 100s I planted in May I think...I bet it’s those nasty earwigs..they'll be history as soon as I can figure out how to eradicate them!Hmm

@AnneKipanki
Your troughs are coming along nicely....and your contraption has turned out so sweet....is that Biden named after our esteemed President?Grin
I dont know when you've had time to do all that planting, though, with your gigantic house painting project! Were you and DH able to finish it up by the time the heavy rains came? I'm still very impressed at ya'lls DIY skills...just assembling that scaffolding properly must have been a challenge and taken lots of patience...SWEET would have been using a ladder and trying to stretch herself across the entire area😂
Brings to mind the scaffolding I saw in China ...theirs is made of bamboo!

@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet you had so many lovely posts last year, too. I'm loving your different purple geraniums with the red roses!

@bettyfloormop I'm glad your neighbour shared her wisteria..it sure looks happy at BETTY 'S! Do you know the colour yet?
I can imagine many walkers enjoy your garden as they pass by your home...when visiting my friend in London, I always take to the streets to peep into people's gardens...I walk all over the city getting ideas...so much beautiful colour and creative talent....I wonder if I've peeked over @WobblyLondoner 's fence before.? Sorry WL, it was probably just me if you saw a nosey lady trying to get a better look at your banana tree. I also wonder if I'm drawing MI5 's attention as I keep showing up on just about every cctv in the city..." What on Earth could that woman be up to walking all over the place spying and taking photos of private areas?"Grin

@FeltTipPenny your sweetpeas are coming along nicely...sorry to hear about your dahlia Hmm

Sweetpea1532 · 11/07/2021 17:56

@bettyfloormop...I forgot to ask...what is that tin and such next to your beautiful rose? Is it a contraption for catching insects? I'd love to know as I'm nosey like thatGrin

WobblyLondoner · 11/07/2021 17:59

The dahlias have arrived in north London!!

It's very odd here, has been football hysteria from early morning - I've heard car horns and chanting from about mid day. Have been ignoring it pottering about in the garden - cleaned out my pond-in-a-sink and put in some irises that had been struggling in the normal garden because, I now realise, are marginal pond plants! Put a tiny solar fountain in it too - it's spluttering away every now and then (dark clouds, no sun).

But look at my gorgeous dahlias. They are called purple gem and are descendants of tubers I bought about 20 years ago.

Gorgeous Dahlias @WobblyLondoner! That first photo in particular is stunning! I've seen a lot of the evidence of the football hysteria on social media and I can't help thinking that a lot of the people going absolutely crazy over it so early aren't actually going to last until the match at the rate they're going! 😆

Thanks @Sweetpea1532! Ambitious I am, but certainly too ambitious, I have lots of grand plans but never enough time (or skill) to complete them!! As soon as you figure out a way to eradicate the earwigs please let me know!! The peas are coming along very slowly. I've had two more 'harvests' since the first but both also very tiny! 😂 Speaking of Sweet Peas, how are yours? I'll blame you entirely for encouraging me to post more photos of mine! Two photos, one bunch picked on Tuesday, the second on Friday. Gobsmacked at the rate they're appearing!
