I have one tiny little rosebud but it seems reluctant to open. Definitely an autumnal feel to the garden now. I have one batch of Sweet Peas still flowering, the rest I cleared away today as they'd all died off. Can't believe I'm starting the clear up for winter jobs already 😢 I don't know where this year has gone!

I do still have lots of colour left though, it's not over just yet! These Petunias are still nice and bright, then something in very deep red colours (I'm not sure what it is exactly, I only bought it last year but can't remember!), and this kind of Ivy (maybe Boston?) climbing through my hedge/trees that turns a lovely rich colour at this time of year.

Very nice @Robin233

applecatchers36 · 20/09/2021 21:56

Pretty violas Robin what have you put in the other planter?

echt · 20/09/2021 22:34

This is a cymbidium orchid that grows outside, as most do in Melbourne. It's been in bud for literally months and has just now decided to bloom.

@Sweetpea1532
Thank you.
They were from Home Bargains.
They have such lovely colours - blue, green and if course mauve.

Robin233 · 21/09/2021 13:21

@AnneKipankitoo @applecatchers36
Thank you
One plant is Heuchera and other I'm not sure.
The idea is that I will have some colour through winter

Fingers crossed

Sweetpea1532 · 22/09/2021 04:54

@Robin233
If you don't mind me asking what continent are you on that you are fortunate enough to be able to have planters in the winter? No pressure to answer..I won't mind if you tell me it's a secretGrin

Robin233 · 22/09/2021 07:45

@Sweetpea1532
lol no problem.
I'm in uk and bit of a novice when it comes to gardening.
I come to this passion later in life but an really getting in to it.
I'm not sure how my planters will fair, but they are in a sunny and sheltered spot, so we'll see how they go :)

AnneKipankitoo · 22/09/2021 07:58

They should be ok @Robin233.
I can’t really put anything out as I get very little sun later in the year .

Sweetpea1532 · 22/09/2021 17:32

@Robin233
It will be a fun experiment to see what beautiful flowers you will have..it's fun to try different things to see what "sticks"..violas are so hardy! Looking forward to updatesSmile
Just those beautiful mauve planters cheered me up!
Ha! My mum has discovered artificial silk flowers from charity shops...they look quite real....she gets so many compliments on her green thumb😂..I "plant" them for her in her evergreen shrubs.

Happy weekend everyone! 😁 Hope everyone has some sunshine ☀️

I've had a really busy day in the garden, lots of heaving rocks and gravel around so my arms are aching! Now I'm sitting down in the garden with a glass of wine, time to relax...

The last of my Lilies has opened up (I promise it's the last, no more spamming the thread with Lilies! 😆), my little yellow Rose too, and my Cosmos are still going strong and keeping the bees 🐝 happy!

Sweetpea1532 · 30/09/2021 04:24

I've been a bit busy for the last 2 weeks in my garden...up to my eyeballs in mud....the story involves squirrels ! It will take another day or two to get over the tragic event....sorry for the suspense...I just can't put the disappointment into words yet...except; those darn ground squirrels ! ShockHmmAngry
