@PolytheneRam

I saw that you had a passionfruit vine...were you aware that you can pop then in your fridge freezer and then eat them as a frozen treat or let them thaw and they taste exactly the same as fresh? I just ate some that had been frozen for 2 years and they tasted as if they were fresh off the vine.
Meanwhile, we have been blessed with hundreds of Passionfruit this year...we keep giving them away to friends and more fruits keep coming ..kinda like courgettes 😂
And this isn't even counting the ones that have rolled down the drive and continued rolling down the steep hill.

Hey, another SP tip...did you know that you can pop whole lemons into your fridge freezer, too? Thaw them in the microwave and the juice is as tasty as fresh...I've tried cutting extra lemons and squeezing the juice into ice trays and when frozen putting them in a plastic bag and back in the freezer, but it was so labour intensive and didn't taste as fresh.

applecatchers36 · 11/09/2021 07:53

SP thanks for all the freezer tips, bear and passion fruit pics 🐻 do the bears like passion fruit?

AnneKipankitoo · 11/09/2021 19:58

Love the bear photos SP . The passion fruit looks tasty .

Sweetpea1532 · 12/09/2021 00:00

@applecatchers36

The bears are on the East Coast US and my passionfruit vine is on the West coast😂 so I'm not sure about Bears and PF, but I would imagine they would love them as they are very tasty...they love acorns and wild blueberries which are numerous in my DSs garden.
@AnneKipankitoo...I'm glad you liked the photos...I have been near a bear in Alaska...it was so surrel...we looked at her, she looked at us and thankfully she took off running in the opposite direction...in the shops up there they sell little bells that you are supposed to carry to scare the bears away...Confused

applecatchers36 · 12/09/2021 00:11

Ah SP am getting mixed up with yours and your children's gardens I think! Am also not too familiar with North American nature so am liable to get confused!

Still sunny and experiencing a last gasp of summer in the UK here are some sunny Rudbeckias, the bees love them!

@applecatchers36
With me going back and forth across the US, I myself get confusedGrin
I love those Rudbeckias...Smile I'm not familiar with them, but they sure do cheer up a garden

AnneKipankitoo · 12/09/2021 11:59

A very sunny yellow @applecatchers36

I do love my pond @applecatchers36, but I must admit it is only a very tiny one! Very amusing and bizarre arrival to the garden really, one day my next door neighbour randomly opened the upstairs window and called down to me in the garden "Hey beautyisfoundwithin, do you want a pond??" We are friendly to say hi to each other but not close friends, we never talk more than polite chit chat so it was a bit out of the blue! 😆 Turns out she'd bought one and never got around to doing anything with it, plus she overlooks our garden to a certain extent so I put it somewhere she can see it so this way she can still appreciate it but we had to do all the digging to put it in! Gorgeous Hibiscus! And lovely cheerful Rudbeckia too.

You give me far too much credit @Sweetpea1532! I just buy the Lily bulbs and shove them in all over the place! As for the bees 🐝, yes I do try to actively grow things for them, and for the butterflies 🦋 Great photos too! Thanks for sharing! It must be incredible to see a bear like that - from the safety of inside the house of course!!

My Buddleia is looking much sadder than ususal (we've had some pretty miserable weather, torrential rain and unusually cold overnight temperatures) but the bees and the butterflies are still very much enjoying it. In fact a couple of days ago I sat out on a bench right next to it and it was teeming with butterflies, then they started landing on me too! At one point I had one on my arm, one on my leg, and one on my head! Managed to snap a photo of the one on my arm.

Fabulous photos @beautyisfoundwithin.

@beautyisfoundwithin

I love your pond story..thanks for sharing! It's amazing how we can do something in our gardens that we'll enjoy not realising how much joy it can bring to our neighbours or people just passing by..and also to other MNETTERS across the World on @AnneKipankitoo 's thread.
Once again, AK2, you rock! Trophy for you, My friend!🏆

Sweetpea1532 · 12/09/2021 17:17

@beautyisfoundwithin
I got so excited by the pond story I forgot to comment on your butterflies! Reminds me of one of those Disney films where the insects and animals are all very friendly with humansSmile
Did it tickle when the BF was on your arm?

beautyisfoundwithin · 12/09/2021 18:07

Thanks @AnneKipankitoo & @Sweetpea1532! Yes, that's so true. She said at the same time that she gets a lot of joy from overlooking part of my garden, and thanked me for giving her something beautiful to look at without her needing to put all the work in! 😆 It made me very happy actually. I think it's a good thing in life to bring joy to someone else. Yes it did tickle! Funny you say about it being like a Disney film, I am a huge Disney fan!! That's where my username comes from (Beauty & the Beast) 😁

I was looking out my window this a.m. and saw a flock of little birds make a crash landing onto my ornamental grass...they were so funny..as they grabbed on to a stalk, it would bend over with their weight and they'd hang on for dear life so they didn't get catapulted across the garden...then they'd start pecking away at the grass seeds Grin
They are the brown figures amongst the fuzzy stalks.

Oh SP that must have been fun to see .
Lovely profile shots @ImprobablePuffin♥️

Sweetpea1532 · 14/09/2021 17:22

@ImprobablePuffin
Is that a blue heron? He is gorgeous...we have a few around here but I've never seen one that is so beautiful! Perhaps ours are all females and along with dull feather colours they are also a bit worn out and bedraggled... trying to take care of their children for any species is always wearingGrin
@AnneKipankitoo
It was really fun to watch the little birds alight on the plumes and hang on tight so they wouldn't be thrown off😂

ImprobablePuffin · 15/09/2021 00:11

I think it is a Grey heron, I'm not sure we have blue herons in the UK but I stand to be corrected!
